Earlier this week, I found a little budgie in my backyard. Having no experience caring for birds, I felt overwhelmed and unsure of what to do, but I was incredibly grateful to find the Fine Feathered Friends Foundation. Marie was a pleasure to work with. She is kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and she welcomed my found bird with open arms. It gave me great peace of mind knowing the budgie was in such capable hands. It's wonderful to know that there is an organization like this for bird rescues and emergencies. Thank you, Marie, for all that you do! read more

I found Fine Feathered Friends on Facebook. Our 9 year old cockatiel was in need of a friend. Rather than purchase from a breeder or off a big-box store, my family wanted to adopt. We adopted our two other birds from local fosters and non-profits. After texting the number of the organization, I was immediately in touch with Marie, sweetest person-ever! We coordinated a date and time to come by and see the available cockatiels ready for adoption. I brought my partner and daughter along. As we got a review of the birds, Marie's hyacinth macaw Howard came over to greet us. Such a handsome, boy! We landed in adopting out a young male cockatiel (likely to be 1 year old due to the pearls still visible in his feathers) named "Patrick". He'd been saved from the elements, rescued after being dropped from the sky by a crow. Marie helped get him back in tip top shape, provided me the labs for his current health state (healthy!) and his DNA sexed paperwork. I appreciated the level of care and service Marie provided. She was professional, detailed, and super accommodating. I really loved her level of attention to understanding each and every bird's quirks, preferences, and history. Before we left, Marie provided a bit of food, snacks, and helped us pick a few perches and toys that "Patrick" would be happy with from his current cage. I was very grateful to be able to donate towards the foundation through Venmo. They also do cash or check, or Zelle. The feel the contribution/donation fee is minuscule compared to the value you give back to new member(s) of your flock. I understand only time will heal him from the trauma of his ordeal. We hope the love, care, and patience, our family can provide him with the right environment to help him heal at his own pace. If you're ever looking to adopt a bird in need, look no further than Fine Feathered Friends. Marie is wonderful and so dedicated, and it shows! read more

Our family recently adopted a Diluted Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure from Fine Feathered Friends Foundation, and we had a wonderful experience. Since this was our first time adopting a bird from a rescue, Marie made the entire process welcoming and comfortable. Marie is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about birds. You can tell she truly cares for every bird at the foundation and continues the amazing legacy of the organization. She took the time to answer our questions and help us feel confident bringing our conure home. She was also so sweet with our 4 year daughter being there, and making sure she was comfortable. The birds are clearly well cared for and loved. It was also such an honor to meet Howie the Macaw! If you're thinking about adopting a bird, I highly recommend visiting Fine Feathered Friends Foundation. Fine Feathered Friends found an amazing forever home for our cockatiel. Rehoming her was a super hard decision, so we sought out a place that would take care of her and look for only trustworthy owners to adopt her and give her the life that she so deserves. Marie was not judgmental about our situation and was very compassionate. She kept in contact with me while our birdie was in her care, and when she was adopted. She even shared photos to give us reassurance she was doing fine. We really appreciated this organization for helping us at such a vulnerable time and finding her a sweet forever home. read more

I'm so grateful to have found Marie and her organization. My mother had four male cockatiels she could no longer care for due to health issues, and even though Marie was already at capacity, she made an exception and welcomed my mother's beloved boys. A few weeks later, I brought the birds--and a car full of their things--to her. They were all closely bonded, and we hoped they might be re-homed together. Marie kept us updated throughout, which brought my mother so much comfort. And this week, she shared the wonderful news that all four boys were adopted together, exactly as we'd hoped. She turned a difficult situation into a truly uplifting experience. I'd recommend Marie to anyone needing bird re-homing support, and my family will happily continue donating to help her keep doing such incredible work. read more

Rehoming a pet is one of the hardest decisions a family can make, and we were absolutely heartbroken when we realized we had no other option. We had rescued our conure, Sunny, from a big chain pet store and instantly fell in love with her. She became part of our family right away. But after a few months, we discovered our 2 year old son was having an allergic reaction. We tried to find any possible way to keep her, because giving her up was the last thing we wanted. That's when we found Fine Feathered Friends Foundation, and I truly cannot say enough good things about them. Marie responded to my message almost immediately and was incredibly kind, understanding, and patient while we talked through our options. She could tell how much we loved Sunny and never made us feel judged for being in such a difficult situation. When we ultimately had to surrender Sunny, Marie reassured us that she would be well cared for and placed in the right home. She even explained they would do a DNA test to determine Sunny's exact species and gender to make sure she was matched properly. A few months later, Marie reached out again to let us know Sunny had been adopted by a sweet couple. Knowing she found a loving home gave us so much peace and closure. If you are ever in a situation where you need help with a bird, I recommend Fine Feathered Friends Foundation a thousand times over. Their compassion, dedication, and genuine love for these animals is so clear. Thank you again, Marie, for taking such good care of our Sunny. It means more to us than you know. read more

Others have said so many lovely things about the Foundation and about Marie. And I'm here to agree and even add some more positive notes :) This was not easy for me to separate from Flamingo (Rosie bourke parakeet). But Marie helped be go about this with the best outcome I could have wished for. She was able to connect Flamingo with a new loving home-an adopted family that already had a bird of the same species. This brought such relief to me that they would be having each other's company. Marie is a true expert in this field. Not only is she knowledgeable on various birds but she understands the emotional/mental state of people in my circumstance. She spent time chatting with my sister and I when we met. Marie is such an angel and a blessing. She is the perfect person to be doing this kind of work. I am so grateful to her and the work she does. From my communication with her, and the Google reviews for Fine Feathered Friends foundation, I had such a good feeling about working with Marie and the foundation. I felt confident that my parrots would be in good hands while under her care, and that she would do her best to ensure that they would be adopted to a place where they could be happy and healthy. I had that initial call with her where I had such a good feeling about her and the foundation. After the call, I realized that although it felt like I found the perfect foundation to rehome them, emotionally and mentally, I was just not ready to say goodbye yet. She was so patient and understanding with me. When I was ready, she was willing to work with me on a timeline for dropping them off. During the drop off, she was so kind and attentive. Emotionally it was hard to say goodbye, but I was so confident that they were in good hands. Marie was willing to provide updates when I checked it about how they were doing before they got adopted. And when they got adopted, she also let me know, which I really appreciated. She was very communicative and receptive throughout the whole process. I appreciate her level of attentiveness throughout the whole process in getting to know my parrots and their needs, from the detailed questions in the application process or the questions she asked. I could tell she was doing her best to get to know my parrots, and to understand what their needs would be in the new home, while also reassuring and comforting me. I appreciate her level of honesty, and transparency. I had really hoped for my parrots to be adopted together since they were bonded. She was honest about how she would take that into consideration, while also monitoring how they adjusted while at the foundation, and during the adoption process. Luckily, they were able to be adopted together, which made me so happy for them. Now they're in a space where they have lots of room to fly and explore, and most of all be together. Marie and the foundation gave my parrots an opportunity for a new life together. And although it's bittersweet for me, I feel relief knowing that I was able to surrender them to a person and foundation that truly had their best interest at heart. I appreciate Marie's thoughtfulness, and compassion throughout the whole process. She truly cares about birds and parrots, people, and the work she does. You can just feel that her heart is in this. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender our Mitred Conure, and after reaching out to several sanctuaries, we were met with closed doors and judgment. One even made me feel like a monster, blaming his biting and aggression on me, despite the many efforts we had made to help him. We tried everything we could, but with a newborn in the house, the situation became incredibly stressful. Keeping our parrot happy while also keeping everyone safe was no longer sustainable. Then we found Marie at Fine Feathered Friends Foundation. From the very first moment, she welcomed our conure without judgment or question. Her kindness, compassion, and deep understanding of parrots made an impossible situation bearable. I was nervous about the transition--especially since it was winter--but her setup was warm, inviting, and clearly designed with the birds' wellbeing in mind. She wasn't fazed by his aggressive behavior or biting, which had scared so many others. She saw him for who he was and cared for him with such ease that I instantly felt relief. Marie went above and beyond. Not only did she provide a safe and loving space for our conure, but she also checked in with us afterward--recognizing the emotional toll it takes to surrender a beloved pet. Anytime I wanted an update, she responded with kindness and reassurance, helping to ease my guilt and anxiety. If I could give her 1,000 stars, I would.
