While definitely not the most organized rescue, Caring Songs is truly doing God's work. I fostered/adopted a dog thru them and they were very responsive to my needs/questions. Overall relatively easy to work with and I didn't experience any type of harassment as mentioned in other reviews. A lot of reviews mention expensive adoption fees, but please keep in mind while the adoption fees can seem steep, this organization needs donations to operate and continue to rescue dogs. Caring Songs neutered my dog as well as transported him from LA to San Diego..the adoption fee helps cover those costs!

I adopted Jack two years ago from CSR. The process was pretty atraight forward, and I got responses fairly quickly. I also was really grateful that I got to meet with Jack a few times before I made the commitment to adopt him. From what I saw, the volunteers and fosters selflessly put in a lot of time and expense for their animals. I requested records for Jack, and they gave me what they had available. These are abandoned or surrendered animals; not houses or cars. Sometimes records just aren't available. I didn't feel pressured or rushed, and that was very important to me. I am truly grateful for the rescue and what it does. M & J

UPDATE - it's been quite some time since I have posted this and am just now seeing a response. The biggest issue here is that there are MULTIPLE people with similar complaints so responding to my review and making it seem like I was the problem when I posted YOUR texts showing the harassment late at night is comical. I'm so happy all of your friends posted stunning reviews for you but unfortunately the bad weigh out the good. You are scam artists who want the money and don't care for the animals. Lastly, my cat did in fact have an emergency surgery. Emergencies happen all of the time.. it definitely was not a "lack of vet care". Looking forward to the day you two are finally shut down!

Thank you for pulling this sweet girl from the shelter and giving us the opportunity to bring her home and be a part of our family. She's a sweet love and we are so happy we found her through your rescue. Thank you to all your volunteers and all they do save these precious lives.

I am currently fostering a dog through Caring Songs Rescue and I am so grateful that this rescue decided to save this sweet, happy girl. They save countless dogs and puppies that no other rescues want. They get the dogs fixed right away and make sure they get booster shots. I have never seen a rescue so caring and so thorough. All the negative reviews break my heart because those people have no idea how difficult it is to run a rescue. Adoption and ownership of a dog or cat costs money. And sometimes, an applicant isn't a good fit for the dog or financially stable enough to have a pet. It's just the truth. The Caring Songs Rescue volunteers are experienced and make sure a background check is done and that the dog goes to the best home possible. They are a foster-based rescue and save more dogs than most other rescues. I'm beyond grateful and beg them to keep saving lives. Especially from high kill shelters that kill puppies daily. These dogs and puppies deserve life and trust me when I tell you that other rescues won't save these dogs because they are too full or don't have enough funds. Caring Songs move mountains to help every dog they can and make strong connections with other rescues to support one another in the rescue community. Fosters and adopters sometimes seem to forget that it's about the dogs. 100% of the money goes to the animals. Keep up the great work ladies! I've volunteered for 4 different rescues in the past and this one works the hardest to save lives. Daisy and I thank you for giving her a chance to live a full, happy life

Response from Caring Songs reccomend we trainer after viewing videos of the dog stalking our cat.

How I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews from other adopters before talking to this rescue! We are experienced pet owners, and have had fantastic experiences adopting from other rescues. Sadly with Caring Songs , we had a similar experience to those described previously - an absolute nightmare. Areas of concern: 1. They lied about her age. They stated she was 10 months old. She is 1.5 years old. (See posting from shelter below, I also have medical records from the shelter stating she is an adult and they verbally confirmed it on the phone). 2. She was sick. She has constant diarrhea. The listed from the shelter she was adopted from stated she needed medical attention. They gave me no proof medical attention was ever given. They also recommended I take out the stitches from her being spayed myself if I was comfortable doing so. When I told them she was sick, they offered to send medications in the mail with no diagnose being given of her condition from a vet and reacted negatively to me saying I wanted our vet to look at her to see what was going on. 3. They said she is good with cats. She is not. She has a high prey instinct and constantly stalked our cat. We ended up having to muzzle her after she made a serious attempt to have a cat dinner. See responses from their recommended trainer below when we reached out about constant stalking. It was recommended by the trainer that we keep her on a leash or crated at all times if there was a chance she would come in contact with the cat. 4. They stated she is good with kids. She is not. Again, she has a high prey instinct. While the dog was laying down in the living room , my daughter got up and trotted up the stairs as children do. The dog immediately sprang up, ran after her, tackled her, kept her pinned down, and nipped her hard three times enough to leave teeth marks and bruising. See responses to this situation from their reccomend end trainer below stating it sounds like a prey responses and recommended we don't allow children to run or make sudden movements near her as not not trigger such a response. She also nipped our babysitters son due to him running in the house. 5. They claimed she is calm and quite. She is a high energy dog who loves to bark. I walked her twice a day for 45 minutes to an hour, and took her to the neighborhood dog park, and she still had tons of energy and was constantly tearing things up right in front of me. She needs a big yard to run and play in, which we do not have. 6. They refused to take her back at first (my first request was 3 days after we got her due to her stalking the cat), saying their kennels were full. We were supposed to be on a 2 week trial with her. 7. After we finally got them to take her back, they re-listed her as a housebroken (she is not) puppy, good with cats, good with children. 8. They blamed us for EVERYTHING, and became quite rude and condescending after we returned her. I am I of a strong opinion, there are no bad dogs. This was not a bad dog at all. This was a terrible, irresponsible placement of a dog. We were very clear in what kind of dog we were looking for, and that we had a cat and small children in the house. It put the poor dog who had already been through enough trauma into a high stress situation for her, put my cat in danger, and the children in the house in an unsafe situation as well. This rescue needs to spend some time assessing their animals before placing them, and start practicing a little honesty and tact.

I simply can not say enough good things about Caring Songs Rescue. We ran into them at a pet adoption in Yorba Linda. Here we were going to buy table cloths for an event we were hosting and we came home a 10 month old German Shepard Lab Retriever Mix. Our intension was to foster. Needless to say we fell in love. The ladies at the organization were so great and have such big hearts. We were very lucky enough to stumble upon them at the event which allowed us to bring home our beautiful gem, our new family member. I am grateful and thankful for CSR as they did provide great customer service to me and my family. Even a million thank you's will actually not be sufficient for the very great support we received. Fostering/ adopting animals IS NOT EASY. it's definitely not for the weak!!! People forget that while fostering/ adopting animals, you have to follow the 3, 3, 3 rule. It takes 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to start a new routine and 3 months to start to feel like home. It's unfortunate that some feel they didn't have a good experience with CSR and that expectations were not met. It sucks that it sounds like there were frustrating experience with CSR. CSR can't change the past but they are doing their best to strive to provide great customer service and most importantly trying to provide all those fur babies forever loving homes based upon my experience. The monumental effort of what it actually takes to run a rescue is easily criticized and unacknowledged . Kudos to CSR for not giving up and attempted to rise above the negative reviews. Keep going CSR! I know your hearts are in the right place!

After just 5 days they transferred it to a Rescue. The process was so secretive that Animal Control would not even tell me the name of the rescue service. After some serious digging I found out the cat had been transferred to Rover Rescue. They're almost 900 miles away even though we have several rescues within 50 miles. I immediately called Rover Rescue and found out they did have the cat and that it will be going to an adoption event this weekend. They REFUSED to tell me where the event was being held. I wasn't trying to get preferential treatment. I just wanted to have an equal opportunity to re-adopt this cat that has lived with me for the last year and a half and they refused to tell me where it was. Clearly they are not interested in getting animals back with loving families. I really hope it ends up with a good family but it was a stray I took off the streets. It had settled into our family very well. Now they are going to make the cat go through that again. It's also very concerning to me about how secretive the process is, even the name of the organization. Don't know anything about them except today's very inadequate interaction but that level of secrecy is not a good sign.

I can't tell you how much I hoped the rescue wouldn't pick her up and she'd be all mine. But Rover Rescue did come to her rescue. I called them minutes after finding out she had left the shelter. I had to leave a message and I figured I'd get the ball rolling and fill out the application. Kathy returned my call promptly we spoke about the dog. And several days later I picked up my girl from the Vet. Kathy was very helpful and thoughtful with her advice. Foxy came with a leash and a collar and we were given a bag of food to get us started. I love this organization, they do amazing work rescuing IMO the most adorable pooches. I want another one but I don't think Ms. Foxy is ready for a buddy quite yet. IMO the rescue fee is comparable and totally fair. You get a itemized list of all the fees they pay while the dog in their care. You don't have an obligation to pay those fees but it really did show me how much money it does take to save these animals.

With the same thinking, it would not be fair to have a dog here ......unless of course it lived indoors with us. We were blindsided when our son brought Buffy two years ago. He just showed up, and like "Here!" She followed him everywhere from one end of the house to the other and back and forth. When he left she cried and whimpered. I laid down on the floor with her and she looked at me with soulful brown eyes, pleading, "Please help me!" I cried and hugged her and told her, "I love you!" That was it! She was mine. It took some adjusting to my new mommy role added on top of the other things I do everyday. When it became apparent I was keeping her, I contacted GTTDR and spoke with Marcy. She explained their dogs are never to be taken out of state and that she wanted to send someone to Las Vegas to do a home inspection. Laurie came for the visit and saw how happy Buffy was. I allowed her to take photos and send it to Marcy. Laurie seemed pleased that Buffy had a good home, but was quite prepared to take her back to California if requirements weren't met. Marcy said, "So I hear your home is fabulous......" I was impressed that GTTDR went to such lengths. Thanks to Heather also for rescuing Buffy from a kill shelter. Two years later, we love Buffy more than you can imagine. She is family. She is three now. Though she is my primary responsibility for care, etc. she loves her dad and her grandma who lives with us. She gets three walks a day at three different parks in the area. She has tons of doggy and people friends and she loves to run and chase birds, rabbits and chipmunks. She is the fastest runner at any of the parks. Her vet says she's athletic, referring to her muscle tone. In the beginning she couldn't walk on a leash without pulling. She barked at everyone and every dog even if it were two blocks away. Now, she walks off-leash, listens to commands, understands everything I say, and has helped other dogs come out of their shell. She wants to be friends with all dogs with the exception of one. She looks to me to see if I give the okay to say 'hello' and she wags her tail and goes to the other dog/s. She is the sweetest soul you will ever meet. Everyone loves Buffy. She is good when visitors come and loves attention they give. She has such confidence and isn't shy about gentle pawing to get more rubs. On our walk this morning, she turned back to look at me with such a loving look, my friend asked, "What was that look?" I said, "She loves me!" He said, "That's what it looked like!" I'm happy she's ours. She deserves a good home and all the love she gets. She is secure and happy. Don't buy. Rescue!

Here is the thing for potential adopters: she has a team of volunteers but she is literally one woman who matches the dogs with their forever homes. She is VERY protective of her dogs and will take dogs back into the rescue if need be. I can see that she tries to keep them local to the South Bay, and if she doesn't respond to you that probably means you aren't the right fit. Many Instagram rescues do this because they don't have the staff or resources to respond to every application all of the time. They need to focus on the rescue dogs. Which means there are groups of dogs that the shelter believes is not adoptable which often get euthanized and aren't even counted. So I will take back my review but I give 4 stars because we did email back and forth and was told to come out and meet the dog but was barely given the time of day.
