Wags & Walks is amazing. We just adopted our 2nd dog from them and are so happy. They're much…read moremore caring than some of the other places we looked. A lot of the dog rescue places feel a bit like a factory, Wags & Wags is not. Their staff is caring, loving and accommodating. Jade even remembered the first dog we adopted when we brought him in to meet our new puppy!

My family and I had been in search for a dog for quite a few months. The online search and…read morecontacting rescues was an exhausting process. We found Wags & Walks and sent in an application for a dog. The next day I received a call from Jade, an adoption coordinator. She asked what my family and I were looking for in a dog and right then I knew this was the rescue I wanted to work with. I didn't feel rushed and I could tell this rescue truly cares about all the dogs and the foster/adoption process. We set a time to visit their facility the following week and met Jade. She was so patient with me and my family while we met a few dogs and made our decision. We took our Lil Bit as a foster for a week to make sure he was the right fit for our family and while he was still taking his medication Wags & Walks was giving him for his cold. The week we were fostering I was in contact with Jade and she answered all my questions in a timely manner. We adopted a week later. Jade offered for us to take Lil Bit back so they could do one more medical check before the adoption was finalized. Jade also sat with me and went through all the adoption forms. During this entire process, I never felt rushed or forced to adopt. I was guided with kindness and patience. Also, Wags & Walks facility is super clean and organized and all the staff we met were so nice and friendly.

This is one of the most friendly shelter staff I've ever come across to be honest. Animal Care…read morewears a person out so it's understandable but the staff was more than willing to show me around and tell me about the shelter. It's an extension of the PD so their campus isn't huge, and they have one building of dogs and a room (plus a quarantine room) for cats. They're half police and half animal control essentially so they have to respond to field calls as well as keep up the facility. For all that work they still have welcoming attitudes. That's one of the biggest complaints I hear working at the shelter is no one cares and staff is unsympathetic. Not so here. Not when I came on a Saturday eve anyway. As I said it's a small spot for a small city. Santa Monica has better government than LA, not in small part due to the land area they cover, quantity wise and demographic wise. My biggest gripe about LA is it's too big which is why gov is so inefficient. It needs to be broken up into more smaller cities. Right now we just have SaMo, culver city, and WeHo with proper municipal status basically. This whole city is like 10 more cities to me. But I digress. Good shelter, as good as one can be given how low a priority it is at city hall.

Such a sweet dog but we couldn't take him so tried to bring him here because we didn't know what else to do. The two women started yelling at us saying they won't take him. One started interrogating me acting like she was a cop and then said "great I have that info and I took down your license plate so if I see a dog running around I will come track you down." She was accusing me of neglecting the dog when we literally saved him from running across the road. I started crying and the two women started laughing at us mocking us. They should not work here and nobody should have to deal with that behavior when they are trying to help

The suggestion donation was a bit high ($900), but they said for pure bread or dogs that are high in demand, the prices are right so it can pay for the dogs that are not being adopted. I found that to be caring and true, I do not mind spending a little more to ensure they take care of all the injured animals at the shelter. The people there really love animals and take care of them, I did not feel like this was a money making operation. It truly felt like all the money was going to be used for food, shelter, and medicine. I highly recommend this place.

This rescue is run by volunteers, so communication can be slow and a bit disorganized. We found…read morethem through Adopt-a-Pet.com and inquired about a dog. They informed us that the dog had multiple applicants, and that the adoption fee might decrease over time if interest remained low. We scheduled a meetup near a Petco in Hawthorne. They arrived a bit late in a large white van with multiple dogs in crates--some appeared anxious. The process felt a little hectic since other adopters were scheduled around the same time. The adoption fee was on the higher side and included vaccinations and spay/neuter services. However, our dog was too young to be fully vaccinated or neutered, so we had to schedule those appointments later. Unfortunately, we later learned--through a professional groomer--that the dog we adopted was not a poodle as advertised, but a labradoodle.

My second experience was terrible. After my puppy was killed while with me on leash by a reckless driver, I later returned to L&L to look for a new baby. Different set of employees, and both my nephew and I were shocked that one of them seemed to blame me for my puppy being killed. He was rude, insensitive to the circumstance, and he did all he could to throw up roadblocks to helping me. He was an expressionless jerk who had zero empathy or professionalism. I contacted the manager about this, and though she three times promised to call me back, she never did. This is heartless behavior for a place that is supposed to be doing good. I will never go back to that place again. The only reason this is not a 1-star review is because my first experience with them was good. That appears to have been an anomaly. I adopted a pup from Best Friends West LA, which I cannot recommend enough.

They have touched my heart in so many ways, for so many years. The photos attached below are from our last recent event, partnered with Subaru and Ozzie and Friends. It was the best day I can remember In a long while, it was so enjoyable to be of service and productive. I have a long history, it's been a decade volunteering on and off with Karma Rescue. But I'm Not here toot my own horn. Previously Karma provided animal adoptions and I adopted two of my sweetest dog friends from Karma. Karma has always been kind and wonderful with their volunteers and the wonderful animal services they provide to our fur friends. Currently, they provide spay and neutering services to low income communities. At low to zero cost. Which esp, for many animals keeps them safe and extends their lifespans. We have an event to thank our donors this weekend in El Segundo, and I'm looking forward to it as always. Annie Ward is a gem of a human and manages us volunteers. If you have a moment to volunteer, bring in yr fur friend for any services, or would like a meaningful tax write-off: please keep Karma Rescue in yr thoughts.

We rescued our wonderful mini doodle 'teddy' almost nine moths ago, and we could not be happier. We were well informed on Teddy's life up until we rescued him, and felt we were in great hands. This rescue foundation is thorough, diligent and very mindful about finding every dog a forever home. As a family with a baby and toddlers in mind, we felt reassured that we were rescuing from a reputable place with not only our family in mind- but the utmost care and love for the dog being rescued. Gina, who fostered Teddy (aka Max) for the first few months of his life, was so friendly, helpful and completely upfront from day one. Teddy was absolutely adorable, and yet she let us know all his flaws right off the bat. Gina was amazing and even took the time to personally come to our house to ensure all was safe and secure for our potential rescue pup. Nine months later and Teddy has become a valued and adored member of our family! We are so grateful!! We highly recommend the forgotten Dog foundation- they are passionate and fantastic at what they do!
