This business has been enjoyable, but I will no longer purchase from them. Picked up a new rescue dog, and was given a sheet that had a list of business names that would give me a discount for rescuing a puppy. Happy to see this business was on the list, but when I made the purchase almost $100 in products, I am told they would not give me a discount as I had all paper work, but did not have the 2 sided paper listing the businesses, so they could cross their business off. At first they wanted a coupon, but after I showed a photocopy of the list, they said I only needed the sheet of paper, so they can cross their name off, as being used. So, I have decided they don't want my business, and will go elsewhere. read more

Only improvement would be to have this store OPEN on Sunday!!! I've been shopping here since the 1990's and LOVE the store and their wonderful employees. Loved the service last time, so we cam back and again got WONDERFUL/ knowledgeable service by John. He helped answer all my saltwater questions on my new tank and directed me towards new softies and their care. Packaged up for our 6hr ride home all were happy and healthy apon arrival and are still doing great. Everything opened, Fish is very social. Will go back to again with NO hesitation. I went here for the first time looking for a cage for my rats. I don't like to use "rat" cages they are too small. I like to use birdcages normally. The staff was all very helpful one employee helped me look at multiple cages and then pick out things to adjust the bird cage to be more rat friendly.He said he normally works on the fish side but was definitely helpful. I don't know how to rate the prices as I haven't compared but the staff is very helpful and friendly. Someone mentioned birds looking unhealthy all the birds looked healthy to me. read more

DEAD FISH BAD WATER! Just moved into the area with my reptiles and planed on starting up a freshwater fish tank. I was pleasantly surprised to see a petstore with a high rating on yelp. My girlfriend and I spent at least a 100$ on feeders and supplies to start the freshwater tank, Sorry fin n feather, but your selection is mediocre at best, with very high prices. The employees are too rude for me to bring my business here again. I've been the the place at least 5 times with 3 times one of the staff was very rude. One time getting kicked out of the store by one member of the staff at 7:01 while another member charged me 25$ for little guppies. And there Own fish had diseases, there koi are half dead and they don't bother to even remove the bodies, I honestly cant believe the rating of this place... read more

I am in love with Fin N Feather! I bought my fish food, supplies and accessories here and everything I needed was available and reasonably priced. The staff are all very knowledgable and helpful and always ready to answer any questions that you might have about your pets. Sometimes I just love to walk in and admire at the display aquariums they have set up because each one is so gorgeous and inspiring, i hope my tank can be that beautiful one day. This place is awesome! All the staff are incredibly knowledgeable & so, so helpful. I love all of their displays, of course my favorite is the salt water fish display but even their hermit crab display is interesting. I like to come in sometimes just to look around. My husband and I walked into Fin-n-Feather with the idea of checking prices for aquarium supplies, as we had agreed we both wanted a small aquarium. We checked out the reptile room for fun because my husband loves turtles. I spotted a lovely Beardy and my husband asked the reptile guy if I could hold it. It turned out to be a very awesome female who was for adoption rather than for sale, and I just fell in love. An hour later I walked out of the store with my new love and her supplies. Two days later I went back in to ask some questions about her habits and behavior, and the same guy was happy to answer all my questions and was so helpful. I've never owned a reptile before but I've been around several (my sister loves them and has had a variety of snakes and lizards) and I have always wanted one. Athena, my beardy, is sitting on my shoulder right now and is rather upset with me because I attempted to give her a bath. She does NOT like baths. I don't know why people are complaining about the staff. When I went in to ask my questions, all I was buying was less than $2.00 worth of meal worms but someone actually went in search of the reptile guy to give me my answers. At the end of the day, yeah they are a bit pricey...but I would rather go to them than PetCo any day!! I just wish they were open on Sundays (like today) because I have more questions! read more

I love this pet shop! My parents shopped here when I was a kid, loved it then too. Now I take my grandchildren here and they are so excited when they know this is our destination. Great employees, always willing to take time to help me with any questions I have, Especially thankful for the guys in the back that are so knowledgeable about saltwater tanks and always willing to walk/talk me through a problem whether I'm there in person or on the phone. My new favorite place for fish supplies! The aquatic plants available are beyond healthy, and are kept in tanks usually by themselves (no need to quarantine or do harmful dips to rid of hitch hikers!) Especially after getting moss absolutely infested with random creatures I had no desire to have in my tank from another local fish store, I'm so ecstatic to have a place like fin n feather near my home! VERY helpful staff, even when I went they were incredibly busy they never made me feel rushed with all my questions and were beyond patient and kind! Not impressed with staff or knowledge/ lack thereof or the inventory of this "pet store". Prices are high and they truly market primarily to bird and fish owners, just like their name states. So dog and and cat owners can probably find what they want at a better variety and for better prices some place else. And their newly opened store across the street is truly indicative of the high priced bobbles people are buying for pets. So if you like to spend a lot of money on your pets this may be the place for you. But, if you're looking to get a grooming appointment you'll have to wait a year. There's a lot of good things about Fin n Feather. There's plenty of workers, the fish room is beautiful, they have foster animals occasionally, it's a clean enviroment. My only complaint is that the workers are not as knowledgable as I would expect pet store workers to be. If you're going to make a career out of selling animals, I feel that you should know basic facts about them or at least have a care books to reference from. On two separate occasions I was given just plain bad advice from workers. The first time, I was preparing to buy a ball python. I came in to talk about its specific care and to talk about any supplies I might've missed. I had done a ton of research already so I basically just wanted to confirm things. The worker told me that "because we live in Humboldt, you don't need to worry about humidity". About a ball python. Who lives in an enviroment that has 70-80% humidity. He also told me not to change the water daily. The second time, I came in to talk about food options for my Syrian hamster. The first girl I talked to didn't even try and called over the "rodent person". The rodent person didn't know what my pet was, despite it literally being sold in FnF at that time. We were standing next to the tanks they were in. (Not to mention that they had multiple hamsters in one tank. Hamsters are solitary creatures.) She did give me good advice on food but not before she suggested I not get a ventilated wire cage and instead get a plastic tank with solid plastic sides that was perhaps 16 square inches. read more

Great local pet store with friendly service. I showed up on Sunday with my son who won a free goldfish, but they were closed. The owner was there and saw he was sad and let us in to get the fish; that was service that is above and beyond anything at Petco or other big shops. read more

Today I couldn't find something they use to carry: they offered to special order! They rang me up and I was talktalktalking and forgot to get a dog cookie for the co-pilot aka dog!! I realized my 'mistake' at the register and they gave me some large broken treats! Wow! That was nice! Instead of me going back to go buy a dog cookie, they GAVE me a huge chunk of a broken cookie treat, the same size of the cookie I usually buy! They are also starting a frequent buyers card!!
