Hello I'm esme and one thing about me is I love my fish I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 bettas and 1 guppie and today I went to this petco to get my guppie a friend (btw I bought all my fish from this petco) and when I asked for the fish I wanted they started pressuring me about a water test and refused my service because I did not have one and they were very rude I'm very disappointed read more

Feeling scrutinized and judged.... My girls and I were excited to purchase a couple of goldfish. The fish specialist began drilling me on what type of tank I had and then refused service. Even though I have had goldfish my entire life and currently own a 10 gallon tank, 15 gallon tank, and an 80 gallon outdoor tank on my deck. If you're interested in purchasing a fish, I recommend anywhere but there; Finn and Feather(Eureka) and Arcata Pet Store. They are locally owned with excellent service and a great selection. read more

Some employees here are super nice but the rude ones really put a sour taste in my mouth. They act so annoyed when you ask them for assistance. I've since started to shop at fin n feather and have had a much better experience so far. Tonight I decided to give it another chance and pop in for some crickets and a bag of kitty litter since the other pet store was closed. I was turned away and told that they don't do "animal sales" an hour from closing time (I think I was there 30min before closing btw) I asked "even feeder crickets?" I was in such disbelief, I thought she was joking at first, it's such a dumb rule. I've never heard that in my 3 years of shopping there. Just when I thought these petco employees couldn't get any lazier lmao. read more

I went into the Eureka Petco yesterday to make a quick purchase of IAMS healthy adult cat food. I was in a hurry so was somewhat annoyed by the chattiness of the cashier. I remained polite but grabbed the cat food bag and hustled out of the store. When I looked at the receipt this morning, they had charged my account $108.61 ! I called the store and asked about it. They said I would have to come in in person to get my refund. The store is 2 hours away! I had given my name at the beginning of the telephone call. They had my id through my phone number, but they wouldn't refund me for the aquarium equipment they thought I had purchased. I don't have an aquarium! I'll go back to get my refund, but I won't be shopping there again. Look at your receipts before you leave this store! read more

Great customer service! Our golden retriever needed a new kennel. We were hesitant to buy without seeing the item set up first. Angelina was able to quickly construct the product and then repackage it for transport. She also found a freeze dried food that our picky other dog will eat. Then, Angelina even carried the crate to our pickup and loaded it up for us. The cashier was very helpful and friendly as well. We will return! read more

It was my first time using any kind of grooming services. I wasn't sure how it worked. I went in and the worker seemed a little annoyed and was off putting at first, but once I showed them my dog's vaccination records, they were very professional and caring in ensuring my dog's comfortability. The service was great. FYI a rabies tag isn't a valid form of verification. Remember to bring the right documents to show that your dog is vaccinated. (I'm new to this) read more

Took my business to Fin And Feather pet store , went in here 4/12/26 to just buy some gold fish to put in a roughly 3 to 4 foot good sized fish pond , when i suddenly began being interrogated by the Queen of the Gold fish , what are they going into ? how big is it? what are the exact dimensions? At first I thought ok they're just making sure people don't over load a tank, I said its a big 3 to 4 foot round fish pond I only want like maybe 10 of these tiny 29 cent feeder fish that are barely an inch long . The questions continue and i say clearly you wanna make this more difficult than it needs to be how many gold fish are you willing to sell me for my fish pond ? her response none because you cant tell me the dimensions of your pond. In 15 years they'll be to big... As they sit there with their maybe 30-35 gallon tank overloaded with hundreds of these fish a complete joke this store has become went somewhere else where they didn't need my date of birth, social, mothers maiden name, place of birth to buy a 29 cent gold fish. Not to mention the tanks look disgusting here and stinks to all get out I highly recommend Fin And Feather as the tanks were clean and beautiful and didn't stink . Maybe Petco should practice what they preach on over loading their tanks but wont sell a parent and his 5 year old any gold fish at all . ONE STAR is too much read more

Middle of the day and there's only one register open. I lugged 70 lbs of cat litter through the line. Then I saw a cart without a pole on it (their idea of anti theft) and loaded my litter into it. Then I was told I couldn't take the cart and had to wait for a manager to walk out with me! I wasn't about to wait around with no one working on the floor. I took the cart to my truck and unloaded my 70 lbs of cat litter and brought the cart to the door where the "manager" finally met me to yell it's there policy and I can't take the cart!!! Dumbest policy I ever heard of. I understand hobos steal your carts but I told the cashier I'd bring it right back. I'll be getting my pet supplies elsewhere from now on where I can use a cart. read more

Kyle was extremely helpful with picking out a hamster for my daughter. He took time and recommended supplies needed for a healthy & happy dwarf hamster. He also educated us on bonding with a new hamster and feeding suggestions. In addition, he helped us check out and assisted us to our vehicle since my hands were full with 2 kiddos. read more

Can't take carts out of the store , I injured my dam back carring cat litter to my car . Looking to take legal action , ridiculous

I went to buy some feeder goldfish for a new tank, was told SORRY we don't sell new fish to condition a tank.... I mean I can take the feeder goldfish to feed a turtle but I can't have fish to put in a new tank? DUMB. I won't be shopping this place again. 2 people in the entire store, no help whatsoever. read more

bad service.. after waiting in line with a heavy bag of dog food, on somebody that continued to shop while at check stand.. I flipped the dog food off my shoulder and was told not to slam it on her counter. I said well my arms don't have the strength they did 10 mins ago.. then she told me don't yell. and I wasn't even close to yelling, irritated yes! I will get my Royal Canine on Chewy now, cheaper anyway, with out the horrible service. The curly grey haired lady should spend more time working and not be in everyone's business that works there. I shopped there often and seems like the same thing every time. read more

Horrible experience. I went into the fish department looking for a dojo loach but the older lady working there with colored hair said they didn't have big enough tanks to carry those. Fine. No problem. When I asked her about a few other fish I thought looked cool, she promptly told me she wouldn't sell them to me because of my tank and the way she said it implied I was an idiot incapable of understanding the differences between cold water tanks and warm water tanks. Maybe I have more than one tank? Horrible service from this lady. My family and I will be taking our business to Fin and Feather. Aside from the incompetence and unfriendliness you get when shopping here, shopping local is better anyways. read more

The staff here is awesome and you can't beat the value of their care plans. Between their aquatic department (Michael is fantastic!) to their reptiles and dog treat station, I love to come here for my pet supplies. I appreciate how patient and knowledgeable everyone is; not to mention personable. I recommend shopping on their app and picking up in store for 15% off your cart - bundled with your vital care (20%)... you can get some great deals. The savings help me invest in my animals. Thanks Petco! read more

We had both of our English Bulldogs groomed by James there. Best service ever from start to finish! Thank you James!!

I took my dog here for an appt. It took 2 hours to get to her, then they did a very poor job with the service I paid for. She did not get her nails trimmed or ears cleaned and I paid for those services. I then left feedback and said hey this wasn't done and now I'm banned from getting them groomed here. read more

Stefan in the Aquarium department is the man! He is really courteous of the fish and the customer. He helped me set up first tank and gave me tons of advice on how to prep and get the tank ready before i put fish into. After waiting for my tank to cycle i went into to get fish and helped me pick out great combinations of fish to make good community members of my tank. Hes very knowledgeable and helpful, 5 starts for stefan read more

I am writing this for a friend who doesn't have a yelp. Do NOT take your dog to get groomed here. They burnt my friends dog with the razors! I have another friend who works at a different Petco location who looked at the pictures and said to anyone trained even slightly would know they were hurting the dog and that something was wrong and they should have stopped. They didn't. She was mortified with what happened to poor Sophie. The dog in question is the sweetest calmest Springer Spaniel with the biggest heart of gold and it tears me apart that someone would put her in pain and not make it right or try to help. Shame on the idiots that work here for not training their groomers enough and being slimy individuals who wouldn't try to make it right. Or the groomers who hurt the dogs and kept going to just finish the job. Since Sophie got home she is not herself and won't let anybody touch her. What did they do to her? If it were my dog Corporate would have to bend over backwards to get me to shut up so I wouldn't sue their ass and take matters into my own hands with the idiot that did this. If the groomer who did this to Sophie is reading this, I hope you make things right before you hurt the wrong persons dog. I personally take my girl to Pampered Pooches. A great LOCAL business that doesn't inflict harm on your dog then try to sweep it under the rug. They're awesome. read more

My experiences have always been pleasant at this Petco. Many helpful employees doing stock work on the floor ready to answer any questions. Petco - Front entrance - Pet Stores Near Me - Eureka, California

We stopped here to get an item that we needed for our pup to heal the pads of her feet. This review is for the store and not the dog grooming. The store is well organized and well stocked. An employee was quick to help me in finding what item would be best for what I was looking for. This is the second time I have been to the store and both times there is not a line and the whole check out process is quick and easy. The staff are friendly and helpful and it was a great experience. This Petco is conveniently located right off of Highway 101 in the Bayshore Mall. The way this store is set up the doors face the parking lot so you can park and go right into the store and don't have to walk though the mall. All in all, it was a great experience! read more

Worst experience ever! Had an appointment today and they wouldn't accept the rabies certificate we had for our dog. First they cancelled our appointment because they changed their hours after confirming my appointment. I came with my dog's certificate in hand and they said no they wouldn't accept it. This is completely inconvenient and will think twice before i come back to this store. I tried to complain to the cashier and he was no help either. read more

Wonderful experience with Monika and Matt! Monika is an amazing manager. She is always on it and ready to help with whatever she can. Monika is knowledgeable in all areas of the store which is helpful since I have cats, reptiles, and fish. I've been visiting this store for over eight years and I can always count on her to be helpful, she keeps the store running like a well-oiled machine. I also had a great experience with Matt in aquatics. He is super friendly and knowledgeable. He taught me important information about setting up my tank. He has been such a great help and has a great attitude. I've seen many employees come and go at this store, but they are two employees who are integral to the success of this Petco! read more

Monika, was amazing in making sure we were educated and well equipped to take good care of our new Python. She was kind and polite. The store itself was organized and still had a wide range of small pets to chose from, would recommend! read more

I returned my dead betta fish 2 weeks after I bought them. They were contaminated with ich and contaminated my whole tank. I had my water tested and it was fine. So they approved the return. But the attitude I got from Dina who is the manager was awful. She was extremely rude. Asking me multiple questions accusing me of being at fault. Nearly not refunding me. And giving me nasty looks. A month later after cycling a brand new tank I came in for a new sorority. Dina had stopped me at check out questioning me yet again discrediting my knowledge on betta fish in front of EVERYONE. I'm very well experienced with them as I had told her the time before and she made me so embarrassed and exposed. I was about to break down in tears. I spend a lot of money there to ensure my tanks have the best care only to be completely embarrassed and patronized. Unfortunately since Dina is the manager there is no one higher I could have talked to. read more

The staff at this Petco are on point. Alley pup loves coming in just to get pets and treats. The staff are always super helpful and kind. Returns have never been an issue. For many years I've done business with Petco and have them help me with various grooming that you said I had with my dog due to the fact that I had a disability today I call asking for the same help that I had become accustomed to over the time I spent doing business to be told that my dog was infested with fleas and that they would not groom her because of it number one thing my dog is not infested with police I noticed a couple of police on her she is currently wearing a fresh collar which she gets every 6 months I am highly offended at being mistreated by the store after the amount of money I have spent over the years of doing this just watch out if you do business with Petco read more

I get my giant dog groomed here and they are always able to fit us in. They also do an AMAZING job, the girls literally spend three hours getting his undercoat out with his hairs flying everywhere. Also, he is super dramatic about getting his nails clipper and being in the drying kennels and the girls are so patient with him! read more

I am really frustrated with Petco. I booked an appointment for my Cheech nearly 2 weeks ago for grooming. Received a confirmation yesterday which i confirmed only to receive a text from the store stating they changed their hours. This is utter BS. Been waiting for an appointment at this time for nearly 2 weeks. It's almost impossible to get an appointment when I need it there. Weekends are always booked. I work full time and can't be there earlier. How is it my problem you changed your hours. You should have changed them after your current appointments have passed. I really can't wait as my dog needs her nails trimmed ASAP. Now they want me to wait for their holiday extended hours. WTF. Really??? read more

OH ok, so Pet-Co is where the pets go. Uh,actually, this girl who waited on me is a pit bull, so, I guess the dog stayed. Here is my saga, last week, I bought some cat food. granted, there are fabulous pet stores here, but Pet Co is the only that sells this kind of cat food. A friend of mine told me about it and she gave it to her sick cat and it worked wonders. SOO, I tried it. Hey, it did work. I digress, anyhoo,I bought some more of this cat food. Took it home, and, it comes in pouches, and when I opened the box of pouches...well, ooops, I bought chicken and inside was tuna. So, today, I brought it back. I said to the girl: " You see, the box says chicken and ta da, it is tuna" She replied, in a snarky pit bull kind of way " I can read". (Oh, I love pit bulls, hate to put her in that category) OK REALLY????? Apparently not, NICOLE, since you must have put the wrong pouches in the box when cleaning up loose pouches etc. (I quote.....as she said.) Must you be so snarky? You see, you may be the pit bull, but I am the "bee yotch" honey, so knock off your "tude" and have a bit more customer service. The saga should have gone like this I say..."You see, the box says chicken and ta da it is tuna" Pet co employee says ...."OH,you're right, go get another box." See isn't that nice? OH, fyi, I did get another box, but, the main problem was HER. The exchange was fine. read more

I love Humboldt County. Hate some of the *people* and their vices, but the area is beautiful and nothing made me see that better than living on the East coast for a while. This is home. That said, I am glad we do have a large pet supply store. The little ones around here are expensive with a small selection. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate small local businesses and shop them often, but not the ones with 600 - 1200% mark up just because they can slap a "local" or "organic" label on their product. (FYI, Organic does not automatically entail "all natural" or even "whole food".) What PetCo lacks in small business wholesome customer service, they more than make up for in real-world, "outside-the-Emerald-Bubble" reasonable pricing and huge variety. They also carry the no filler, no grain, whole-food pet foods I want. The kind where the actual ingredient list is: "turkey, chicken, duck, whole sweet potato, blueberries, sweet peas..." etc, etc, cat eats better than I do sometimes. If that brand was local, it would be $30 a six pack. At PetCo it's $2 a can or $8 a six pack. So yeah. Also, they have a policy where if you buy pet food, and for some reason your pet doesn't love it, you can bring back the bag even if it's half eaten and exchange it. I've only tried it twice, but it was honored. That's corporate policy and has been that way at every location I've visited all up the California coast and in the East. Likewise, they let me exchange her pet carrier because it wasn't airline approved even though I had no receipt and had used it once already. They gave me a gift card for the full current scan price, all friendly smiles and chatting while they worked. Big Business does not *always* equal "Bad Business", Humboldt. read more
