This specific Petco is ALWAYS out of cat deworming medicine. For the past FIVE MONTHS I have only been able to purchase the medication once and I had to order it online. Whoever does the orders for the store products needs to get it together and order important medications like dewormer. read more

Even tho every Petco is the same to me, I will give this one good ratings for a few reasons. Some small reasons are because they aren't as messy as others I've been too, the environment/presentation is better and they have customer accessible and clean restrooms. My bf loves to spend time at Petco looking at the aquariums and talking himself in and out of buying new fish, so clean, available restrooms for me are great here. The reason we go to Petco is because it seems to be the only place that sells the dog food we like to give our dog. Have not found another place in the area yet that sells Nutro Ultra dog food for small breeds. Seems like other people have this problem too because about two weeks ago when we went to stock up on our dog's food, they were sold out of the bigger bag which was a better deal than the smaller bag. I don't remember the prices but pretty much the food is sold in 4 lb bags and 8 lb bags and the 8 lb bag is less than two 4 lb bags. I asked a nearby worker if they were completely out of the 8lb bag and she let me know that they were out and would not have a delivery for another few days. I began to look for other brands we may be okay with feeding to our dog. When my bf finished looking at aquariums, I let him know what I was up to and he did not think switching up our dog's diet would be good. The worker nearby overheard us and said that if we wanted to buy two of the smaller bags, she would give us a discount to make up for the difference, or sell us two 4 lb bags as if we bought an 8 lb bag. Terrible service! Made an appointment and the employee didn't show up. I talked to them in advance letting them know how sensitive my dog is. He pooped on the floor and they gave me nothing to clean it up with. I finally got a plastic bag, but no disinfectant. Disgusting! I told them it would stress him out to have to wait. I waited a half an hour and then they took another customer first. I walked out. I will NEVER do business with this company again! read more

If I could give no stars.. I would. I've taken both of my dogs here to get groomed and have never had an issue until today. We asked for a bath, brush out, nail trim, ears cleaned, and a light fanny trim. That is not what we got. Bonnie, I believe her name is did a horrible job. It is obvious that my dogs did not get there ears cleaned, did not get there nails trimmed, did not get a brush out, and as for their fanny trim... I have no words. She completely shaved there butts and down to the skin. NOT EVEN EVENLY. Not to mention our appointment was at 2... when we dropped them off, Bonnie was at lunch so they were in the kennel for an hour because she was at lunch. Why schedule us when you are at lunch? They have a great selection of pet stuff. Prices I think are pretty reasonable, maybe a LITTLE high, but pretty good. I got cute matching jackets for my dogs (although the selection of clothes is not huge--I think they could use to have more rain gear like dog rain boots and coats especially with regard to where we live!). The grooming service I got from Katie was amazing. I won't go anywhere else now. She clearly really cared about my dogs and did exactly what I wanted. Soooo happy. read more

ugh I know I am reviewing again. I still don't think Chris should work there but I had awesome experience with Erick (Tall employee with dreads.) My dogs harness had gotten twisted in a way I could not fix it. There is no way I can take my talk out without a harness so I had to stop at PETCO. Erick helped me pick a harness that might help with my dogs serious pulling problem but also wouldn't be rough on his skin.(My dog is a rescue and has health issues.) He even helped me put it on my dog which was going much past basic customer service. So Erick has taken my horrible thoughts of this petco away. read more

I dislike this petco location 3300 broadway st , Eureka, ca, 95501 so much i encourage customers to go else where. they have horrible customer service. There is nobody trained to hold animals like hamsters and Lizards. their so-called manager is super snoody. my husband and I walked in yesterday evening to purchase a hamster when I asked to hold 1 the lady said "no, they are to fast and i dont want one to run loose" I said to her "i understand. So would you get someone that is able to hold a hamster without it getting loose? Like someone who is specialized." She said "no they are for looking not for touching." why would you go to a pet store to purchase a pet without being able to hold it first?now I've owned many hamsters in my life. And I've always held them. Never had issues. now mind you, we have had issues with the same lady but with a different animal, lizards. When last time my husband and I try to purchase a lizard she said she could not hold them because they would run away. So I asked her to get someone who could. She did. Without a problem. when my husband walked up to get a manager the same lady who did not allow me to see a hamster walked up.and said she was the manager. I looked at her and looked at my husband and said oh gosh it's her, sure enough the same lady who denied me to hold a hamster was the manager. How unprofessional. She missed out on a really good sale because if I purchased my hamster I would have gotten a cage, food, toys etc. I will honestly never go here again I even bought a betta fish a few months ago and I will never continue to buy her food there again either. It's a complete shame but I will go to my local pet store instead where I'm able to hold a hamster or a lizard or any animal I choose to want to purchase. read more

This Petco is glorious. The store is well and beautifully stocked, wide aisles, and friendly associates. A great selection of small pets to choose from, they even sell a critter car your hamster or gerbil can zoom around in! I called yesterday to make an appointment for a bath for our dog. The lady said that someone would call me back in the morning to make appointment. About 3PM I decided to call and see where my call was. Same "bimbo" sounding girl who took my call yesterday gave some phoney/baloney excuse and then yelled across the room to the "groomer"...who said they didn't have any appointments tomorrow, would it be ok if my dog was in the same holding as a couple other breed dogs....I said no problem, what time on the following day, she then said that she was going to refuse service to me cuz of the tone of my voice....really, one airhead and then her. I love this PetCo. I have quite a soft spot for Bettas and their Bettas are ALWAYS healthy and in clean water. This is the only PetCo I have ever been in where the Bettas are not in filthy cups suffering from fin rot or swim bladder issues. Also--a big recommendation to use their groomers! My dog is totally fearful of getting her nails clipped, it's essentially a three person job. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for them, but they always do it with a smile and reassure us that it's not a problem that she's such a squirmy dog. I know they probably see us coming and think "ooohh great" but they never show it and are super friendly every time. The staff is super friendly. The ones I've spoken to in the fish section are not knowledgeable at all, but hey at least they admit they don't know instead of giving bad advice. I shop at other places, like fin-n-feather (another awesome store--much bigger aquarium selection!), but for what PetCo offers they are my first choice! read more

Where shall I begin? Okay. Here. 1. I bought a beta here. He lived for almost a year, which was okay. Came back to replace him, and half their display of betas were dead. One had been dead long enough to be covered nose-to-tail with grey icky stuff. Never again. 2. I was helping my sister pick a couple of female hamsters for my niece and nephew. The employee helping us nearly sold a very elderly hamster to a couple of little girls. My sister bought her so they would get a nice healthy young one. The employee insisted the hamster was "practically a baby" even though she showed all the signs of being old. She died a week later. 3. I adopted a bearded dragon from Fin-N-Feather. After almost a week she hadn't done her business, and I was worried. It was Sunday and Fin-N-Feather was closed, so I took her into PetCo and asked if they could help me. I was told that they couldn't even give me advice because I hadn't gotten her there, and that I should probably take her out of the store in case whatever is wrong with her is contagious. But they were more than willing to point me to an expensive book I could buy. 4. My husband and I went in to price small aquarium setups. We waited around for about five minutes before my husband pressed the "assistance" button. Another ten minutes went by while we looked at the different tanks, and we heard an employee come over and help the people in the next aisle who wanted to buy a lizard. Finally he came over and my husband said we were the ones who pressed the button to call for assistance, and the employee replied "oh, well they were ready to make a purchase." I do not shop here. Came to this location asking about training info for my Siberian Husky. I sh*t you not, this trainer (named Heidi) I believe? Said she could train my dog no problem. That she has her pit bulls at home that she just kicks and smacks in the head to get it to listen but that she "really shouldn't give me that advice since she's a dog trainer"... I was blown away. Let's start off by saying it's petco, the food selection is great as well as kitty litter. They have all kinds of options for any budget. The store has great choices for accessories and pet supplies. Let's start why I chose to rate 1 star and why I would never recommend this location to anyone. First off I came into this store and Noone was around to greet very typical, and I went to the aquatic department. I looked around and went to find someone for help. After searching for 10 minutes I found someone, who then proceeded to press a button that said "assistance needed in aquatics" all the while I say a kid walking around with a petCo nametag "dylan" and dark sunglasses on his face. Mind you, it's 8 at night. After not to long I sat down on a stepping stool I found in aquatics, I am 9 months pregnant so I was pretty tired after a long day at work. The girl arrived and she got me some fish it took 30 minutes I got a few different breeds. After this I went to kitty food and litter and the girl who helped me with the fish also helped me there. I walked up to check out its 903 I figured they were still open at least till 10 because Noone said anything over an intercom and the lady who helped me with the fish and cat litter would of said hurry up we're closing. So I went to check out and some different girl said "hold on" went to a room and shook her hands and pointed at us, followed by her immature rude gesture, the kid who was wearing sunglasses throughout the evening came and said,"we're closed" it's about 903 at this point. I said closed? We were being helped by an associate, and have over 200 dollars in merchandise to buy would you be willing to help us out? He said obviously you're mad (which I was) being Hella pregnant and just walked around the store for over an hour would do it to ya, he goes off to say "well why don't you just take the stuff then".!!!!!I was so mad at his disrespect and demeanor I wanted to puke. It is a good and fair review, and Yelp's hiding it is symptomatic of what is wrong with Yelp!....siding with businesses which somehow, and I do not know how, wield some influence over Yelp!....Do you get kickbacks, or are you just afraid of possible lawsuits, or what?....Clearly, the ethics of animals deserving to be be treated as something other than commodities and objects, and their well-being of animals is not a priority. read more

This review is for the grooming operation under the Petco cover. I scheduled an appointment for my dog to be groomed. While making the appointment the employee asked if the dog was current on the rabies shots. I said yes and she asked me to bring in the paperwork. Alternatively she offered to call his vet. Sounds easier. Right? I asked her to call the vet for me. The day of the appointment I walk in and almost the first thing the employee asks is if I have the paperwork. I said no you were going to call. Oh. Hold on I need to go clock in she says. Ok. I'll wait here? She comes back look at the appointment on the PC and says nope no record of us being instructed to call. I again tell her the understanding was Petco was going to call. She calls the vet in front of me as if they are open early on a Sunday. Not open. Employee starts coming up with work around that are not feasible. Oh I can come back. Hello I just drove 20 miles early on a Sunday for this and you think I'm going to come back. Not reasonable and insensitive to how their lack of professionalism impacted me. This is the worst Petco I have ever been to, I swear to god lol. Workers are inattentive and their care of animals is disgusting. Walk by the rat cages and you'll see some mice bleeding from obvious signs of fighting, but do they care and do something about it? No. Workers even admitted to not giving animals 100% care or attention. These animals deserve so much better than what this store offers them. Not to mention the terrible customer service I was given. If you want to be yelled at on the phone, left in the dark on the care of your pet (when you take them in), be sold a poorly cared for animal, and be stolen of your money with little to no explanation, then this Petco is just for you!!! :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) read more
