I almost gave it two stars only because it's in a beautiful location, and they did a nice job with the design on the inside. That being said, for the prices on the menu and mediocre food, the terrible service was the deciding factor for me. When we first walked in, the sun was beginning to set and the hostess took us directly to a table where the sun would be in our eyes. We asked for another location, and to her credit, she did accommodate us. However, since it wasn't even a little crowded in there, why didn't she just take us to a better table in the first place? We had issues with food coming out without proper utensils to eat it (soup and no spoons), dishes not coming out at all until we asked, and then no apologies when we brought up that we were missing courses. Our server was slow about checking on our drinks and refilling water. I don't recall that he even checked to see how we enjoyed the food. Having worked in service, I know that things don't always run smoothly. However, when the restaurant isn't even a little busy, it's just laziness at that point to have that many mistakes. The food was decent, but not special enough to warrant the high price tag. I could MAYBE see paying that much if the service had been better - given that the beautiful location is what this restaurant is all about. Ultimately, though, we will not be going back. read more

A NYC restaurant with NYC prices. I've had three meals here, all of which were excellent. Starting with apps, the oysters are as fresh as they come. Amazing brussels sprouts that converted a hater -- my dinner companion -- into a fan. Crispy, touch of sweetness from the honey, zero bitterness. The burrata is excellent (though, admittedly, it's hard to go wrong with burrata). Charred octopus is fantastic -- tender and flavorful. Moving to main courses, salmon is super fresh with a deliciously crispy skin. The sides -- a cauliflower, oyster mushrooms, and kale melange -- were even better than the fish, IMO. My dinner companion had the fisherman's stew with a coconut - lemongrass broth. As stews typically get the leftovers, they can be hit or miss, but this one was quite good, especially the broth. Desserts are up to par with the mains. Service was fine and Chef Mike Anastacio came by twice to check on us. I find the gastropub atmosphere to be an odd disconnect with the top notch food, but it's pleasant enough. The restaurant is in a massive former factory??? warehouse??? called The Factoria in an industrial/office park section of Peekskill. Once you get there, though, you are actually on the water, which is nice. Everyone I have brought here has said they would come back. This is definitely my new go-to in Peekskill -- food-wise, it is far above and beyond anything else you can get in the area. read more

The drinks were perfect! The cocktails were very well made and the beers were great, as one would expect from a Captain Larry's offshoot. Based on our appetizer; salmon tartar, we anticipate phenomenal entrees. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The soft shell crab was good, but the portion was comparable to the appetizer... one small crab complimented by a handful or corn kernels. As for the chicken, it was well proportioned, but seemed to be smothered in salt... needless to say, we stopped at McDonald's on our way home. I would recommend this restaurant for someone looking for a drink with a great view of the river. This place was been opened for a while and hesitated to try it as it had a very unusual menu. Recently changed it so gave it a try. Lots of small plates to share and still some unusual appetizers and entrees. Went with three other people and we had a couple of apps to share and shared one entree. All good - different but delicious. We had the crunchy potatoes, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and beef skewer as appetizers and enjoyed them all. Had the bucatini Bolognese from the entree section to share which was delicious but hardly an entree portion. Had the winter sangria which I would not order again and the bread was not to my liking. As local residents, we have been to pretty much all restaurants in the area that and have reviewed them. This place was on our bucket list for a while but we wanted to avoid holiday madness and restaurant week crazyness that typically does not bring the best out of a review. So we came here on a Thursday night early, 7pm. Nice big parking lot. The first thing I noticed (it did not offend me) was that there are no less than 10 handicapped parking spots . The restaurant is on the second floor and can be reached by stairs or a tiny elevator. I would assume this to become a true bottleneck on a busy day. The place itself has a modern decor with a huge bar in the middle and very nice views of the Hudson river. This is a true riverfront restaurant with outdoor seating options for the warmer days. Just for that its worth coming here and hang out at the bar for a drink or sit outside. We received a friendly welcome and at our request seated by the riverfront windows. There is a nice selection of beer brews and cocktails, the winelist for stuff by the glass is not up to par but the owners know that and are in the process of making changes. I ordered the Pino Noir (after others Yelpers alreay "warned" me about the Cianti and the Malbec) and it was so so. My wife had the Chabli which was good but at $17 per glass a little out of touch for the ambience. Wife ordered Oysters and I went with the Salmon Tatar for our first course. Again, very friendly and knowledgeable staff that navigated us through our choices. The Oysters came out nice chilled, fresh and very tasty. My Salmon Tatare was presented nicely, was fresh and very tasty. Second course, wife ordered the (hand-chopped) Steak Tatar and I went with the Skirt Steak after other Yelpers raved about it. Again, nice presentation, the Steak Tatar was tasty ( even so that a hand-chopped version is a little more rustic) my Skirt Steak was super tender and tasty, the sweet potato well seasoned and nice presentation. All in all, a experience we do not regret and we are glad to have this nice addition to our list of preferred restaurants in the area. I went with my sister to Spins and then Fin and Brew. Spins was so much fun, next time my grandson is coming with me. Afterwards we went to Fin and Brew. It was not only delicious but the waitstaff was amazing. We were asked on numerous occasions if everything was ok. Their attention to details was just wonderful and the food was delicious only to be topped off by this amazing creamy coconut desert. Wow. The chef ( Mike Anastacio ) came out to chat with us. Went there for brunch. Sat outside as it was a beautiful day. Service very slow with no enthusiasm!! Very limited menu for brunch. We wanted appetizers but the only ones offered were from the raw bar, that was not good as our bill would've been much higher! I was excited to try Fin & Brew as I had been following their Instagram page for quite a while and was impressed by their photos. We finally made a reservation for a Friday night. We weren't sure if we would hit traffic, so we left early and ended up arriving almost half an hour early for our 8:15 reservation. We offered to wait at the bar but the hostess said she could seat us right away. There were several empty tables. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice with a rustic meets industrial vibe right on the water with a beautiful view. The restaurant has a bit of an odd layout inside of a building with an arcade, but we found it easily enough. Parking was a challenge as the lot was completely packed. We were immediately underwhelmed with the service. From the time we sat, everything took way longer than it should have - water, menus, cocktails. But that wasn't the worst of it. We ordered apps - mussels in beer broth and 6 oysters - and mains - fisherman's stew and Colorado lamb at the same time, approximately 8pm. By 9:30, when we had received only our apps, we decided to ask for help. A bus boy promised to check as our waiter was nowhere to be found. By this point our water and cocktails were finished, never to be replenished. The bus boy never returned. We asked the hostess to check and she told us that isn't her department. At that point we asked for a check. Miraculously, our food arrived! By that point we really had no interest in eating (or sitting) any longer. The waiter (generously?!) offered to remove the entrees from our bill (ha!). So as much as I would have loved to love Fin & Brew and return to that gorgeous view over cocktails, it just isn't going to happen. They happened to be having an event on the other side of the facility - so not sure if that had anything to do with it, but if you can't do both, you need to stop one or the other. The disappointment was in the small plate and the large prices. I have been here before and would make a few recommendations to the chef. Not so many fried foods, more items with fresh vegetables. More items with chicken and shrimp in them that are not fried. Appetizers that have more choices -veggie platter with hummus or more salad options. Offer vegetables and a starch on the side. The greeter faced with an empty restaurant sat the second party to arrive on the very next table to us, literally right under our noses meaning we could not hear our own muted conversation 2. The scallops were delicious but at 34 bucks for 5 half scallops and I had NOTHING else on the other half of the plate. No salad, no rice nothing. I've had fine dinners here on several occasions so I thought that they would be able to rise to the occasion for Mother's Day. They did not. $50+ for eggs, bacon and sausage, nearly inedible beef (unless you like pure fat), dry fried chicken and a few other bland unimpressive dishes left our party disappointed. The food here alone is worth the trip. Fin and brew are taking a different take on putting fresh, quality food on your plate. I've been all around the five boroughs eating at different restaurants and the food they push out at Fin and Brew in the Hudson Valley is spot on. Craft beers and fresh oysters is what you need while catching a fantastic view of the Hudson River. Take a trip out of NYC or the surrounding boroughs and you'll be glad you did so. We had the pleasure of coming to this delightful restaurant during our trip to Peekskill this weekend for dinner and brunch. The space is spare but inviting. You never felt crowded in or like people were too close. The specialty drinks were yummy and the food...if I could transport there every weekend for dinner and brunch I would!! The oysters were super fresh and our server Rob kindly noted for us the east coast regions they came from. The shrimp cocktail has the perfect seasoning and are immaculately clean and cooked to perfection. Chef Mike is the very best!! He makes his presence known and stopped to chat with us and the other restaurant patrons. Which to me is a really nice touch it made our experience really personal. During dinner our favorite server Jess came to take over for Rob and we were very happy, such a doll, we really felt like we were among friends. The entire staff really is just amazing. We were never left wanting. Our entrees were so good that my SO and I barely spoke just exchanged looks of "yummy" lol. It was all so good we went back for brunch! You need the pancakes in your life trust me!!! SO said his eggs Benedict were the best he ever tasted. I promise if you go you will wanna go back!! I went here for dinner with a few friends and the service was extremely slow. While the food was good, it took about 30 minutes to be brought our drinks and over an hour to be served our food. In fact, multiple waiters brought the incorrect food to our table three times before our meal came. The wait staff, while nice, seemed unorganized and flustered. This was the second time that I've been to Fin & Brew; the first time a year ago, with great food and not so great service. This time - TERRIBLE all around. Drinks ordered. Took about 15 minutes for cocktails to be made. Food ordered in a timely manner. Received appetizers; we ordered Aspragus and the Avocado. Asparagus was covered in "goat froth", which honestly looked like dish soap. Otherwise both were tasty! My group of four had ordered main courses with the appetizers. It took 45 minutes for the waiter to show up again (we flagged him down when he was at another table), 1. Our drinks had been empty for 30 minutes, 2. It had been over one hour since food was originally ordered. The waiter was suprised! We requested new drinks (never got them from him). He made our food a "priority in the kitchen". We requested to see a manager. Kudos to her for getting us some drinks, and for getting some food!! The food that came out was terrible! We each had a different meal, and the amount of salt on the foods made them unedable! The portions were so incredibly small - my N.Y. Strip Steak was a teeny tiny steak of improperly cooked and salty mess! I just couldn't wait to leave! I will not ever go back - it wasn't even that busy!! read more
