Been here twice so far and both times I've been very happy. I've had the regular drip coffee and the regular iced coffee (they call it cold brew here in Texas, I guess). Both hot and cold were excellent. Not over roasted or watery. Really just a smooth cup of coffee. It's in a great spot too. I took my wife and kids on a stroll of Downtown McKinney and Filtered was the cherry on top. Perfect way to roam the local streets. But of course it was the friendly atmosphere and the very kind staff that made it even better. They were very attentive and polite. Not always what I was used to back hone in New York (you can get some seriously snobby baristas in New York). Not here. Ultimately, a great coffee shop in a cool spot. Great service and awesome selection in a trendy location off the square in McKinney, Texas. I stopped in for an iced soy latte and while the line was long (4th of July crowd) it moved quickly and efficiently. They take Apple Pay (score!) and offer vegan options. The baked goods looked good but I did not try them. The space is open with plenty of seating in the front and back. The back space also has board games. The barista was fun and knowledgeable. Very quaint shop in old downtown. Went on a Saturday morning right after they opened and took about an hour to start getting busy. Coffee and pastries were very reasonably priced and very good. All in all it fits with the charm of the old town feel and the staff made you feel welcome. read more

A little misleading - it's not that they sell craft coffee here. They use the beans sourced from Cuvée coffee of Austin, TX (which was formerly based in Dallas). For me, a coffee shop claiming craft coffee distinction should be sourcing and roasting their own beans, not getting it from another purveyor. Regardless, the "craft" in the name still means that they take the coffee seriously. You'll find the regular, cold-drip, espresso-steamed, and all else here for any of your coffee needs. And they do have the nitrogenated cold-brew that made Cuvée famous. In short, this place essentially serves as a Cuvée outpost. I'll say this though - it's nice they have also food - quiche, kolaches and even empanadas. But unfortunately they were out of all these things when I came, so I am unable to comment much on the savory options. If there's any sign of hipness to McKinney, you'd find it here with the live music offering and a mix of crowd. Spotted an old man with an electric scooter and a teen-bopper rock head. Have had breakfast here a few times now. The coffee and breakfast are good. The food is tasty however, felt the service was a little slow. We don't mind - we are not the ones in a hurry when we eat. Loved this locally owned coffee shop in downtown McKinney. My sister visited for a long weekend recently and Coffee Goddess that she is, I came up with a list of local cups of joe. We decided to stop here and were not disappointed. She got the King's Cake mocha and I got a raspberry truffle drink - both were great, as were the cheesecake bites. Filtered is in such an amazing location in historic downtown Mckinney! My family and I came to visit the area early yesterday morning and we loved it! The coffee was so good even my husband was blown away and be tends to me kind of picky. I'll have to go back to pick up some coffee beans to take home. The shop itself is really cool inside. It was still set up for COVID standards when we went in and I wish I would have noticed the window that was open from the outside so I could have placed my order that way. However, I was glad I got to check out the inside too! The customer service was awesome too! The two people working were so nice when taking my order and the guy there amused me while I took a picture of the exterior lol. Double peace signs for the win. read more

Stopped in after having lunch next door at Urban Grill. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk, nothing crazy. I enjoyed it and found the coffee to be very smooth and flavorful and I'm happy that they didn't give me an over abundance of ice because as hot as it was today, I know I'd have watered down coffee in minutes. Not sure if that was intentional or they normally put less ice but good looking out nonetheless. The staff seemed pretty cool too. I had the orange peel latte that's a winter special and it was good but not any better than Starbucks. My sister had the peppermint latte and that tasted like toothpaste so would not recommend. I can't believe this place is in downtown McKinney! My new favorite coffee spot in town. Highlights: diverse drink selection, well-lit space, recording studios in the back, and cuvee drip coffee. Filtered combines a hip Austin vibe with a friendly, family oriented Mckinney feel. I came on a Sunday - quiet morning perfect for getting work done and then as the afternoon progressed a crowd filtered in to watch live music. Mind you, these were voice students of a local singer so not all were pleasing to the ears but it was cute and entertaining! Reminded me of an open mic night. The food options look pretty good but I have to say what won my heart was definitely the Cuvee coffee, one of my all time favorites. When even the drip coffee is delicious, huge thumbs up. As a side note, the specials like "el chapo" were entertaining and I'll definitely try one next time. Overall I was surprised at how much space there was and just how hip Filtered is for its location. My one critique is that service was a bit slow - only one guy available in the morning and it took 5 minish for him to be able to even take my order but I was in no rush. If you've only driven through McKinney on the expressway and never seen the historic downtown, stop reading this and GO! It is very cool. Toward the east end of W. Louisiana Street is an old red brick building where FILTER [ed] lives ... that's the way they spell it on their sign and that's the way I'm going to spell it. FILTER [ed] is a real treat to find, on a whole other planet than the clone-alike mega-chain Star-e-eyed pretend coffee shops. You'll notice outside they have a couple of tiny bistro tables and a couple of bar stools, but inside it is gigantic ... tons of seating at the bar or at tables. They have a pretty complete menu posted above the bar but the very friendly barista will probably mix up just about any coffee drink you want. While you're waiting there is a plethora (haven't used that word much lately) of pastries and stuff like that. Plus a whole lot of cute kids' drawings (the drawings, but I'm sure the kids are cute too) and postings for events and crafts and whatever. This is one of those reviews that doesn't make a lot of sense to read because I can't describe how the coffee tastes or smells or how helpful the barista is or anything like that, so let's just say I gave it 5-stars when I usually max out at 4-stars. My husband and I were driving through McKinney and I found this place on yelp. We went here because of the great reviews and I am glad we did. The place looks a bit sterile from the pictures, but I found the atmosphere was warm and the service noteworthy. We sat in the back and enjoyed a cappuccino, drip coffee, and spinach quiche. Their food menu was unique and I appreciated it. The coffee selection was genuine and I always am thankful for design in my milk foam. Atmosphere: Excellent craft coffee shop. Somewhat awkward music-coffee hybrid feel, sometimes the live music or music playlist is odd and off-putting for a typical coffee setting. Is it a music venue or a coffee shop? The drinks: cold brew; delicious and smooth! Cortado; excellent and perfectly executed (could have used some fizzy water along with it, but it was good enough without). Family recipe hibiscus sweet ginger tea; yum! But a little sweet, needs dilution to cut the sweetness and not taste so much like a concentrate. The seating: hard seats everywhere. All under A/C vents; brrr! No comfy seats to sit in and relax for a bit, but if their goal is to turn over seats quickly, I guess they achieve their goal just because the seats are uncomfortable. You can bring a large group here; the tables can be easily moved and combined or separated into many 2-tops. I come back for the drinks, but I wear headphones to listen to my own music and drown out some of the music presented in the shop. read more

We had an enjoyable experience at Filtered. It's a cute little shop with a cool industrial vibe (sleek wooden bar and tables, exposed brick wall). It wasn't immediately clear where we should order, so we stood by the bar until one of the staff noticed us and asked us what we'd like. There were just two guys behind the bar, and our server was friendly and attentive. He said they could brew any of their hot teas and make it iced. We ordered a cinnamon iced tea, and it was quite delicious. When we got up to leave we asked where they got their tea (since they seem to put out a locally sourced, indie vibe) and we were surprised to find out it was the generic Kroger brand. Not a bad thing, just surprising. Overall, worth a stop by if you're thirsty in McKinney. FYI, when I checked in on Yelp I got an offer of a free 12 oz coffee. I don't drink coffee so I didn't use it, but good to know for all you coffee lovers out there. read more

Good coffee. Super spenny. Dang, it was hot out today, and I was walking by this place so I figured I step in for a iced coffee. It was very good and I liked that they had almond milk instead of soy. Paid $6 for a large which was more like a small at other places, especially when it was half filled with ice. The hand written chalkboard signs are crowded up and difficult to read. I don't mind paying $6 for a local biz, but what I got was pretty tiny, pretty good profit margin there. :p Oh well, I gotta be more careful next time. read more

Filtered is just around the corner, and it was faster, quieter, and friendly! The coffee was AMAZING! This place is for the true coffee connoisseur. Maxy told us he'd been making coffee for 50 years, and he even showed us his special coffee pot. I can't wait to go back to hear the piano. I'm excited to see they are open until 8.
