Over priced coffee- paid $10 for a 16 oz latte- and they only offer their "in house expensive milk" which is just a sweetened whole milk. Wasn't a big deal to over pay initially for this adequate latte - BUT- when I asked the status on my drink after it being 10 minutes of being here and others getting their orders, and mind you- never hearing my name called.... The 3 snobby girls behind the counter looked at me like I was an idiot and like I was trying to scam them for a drink- while there's only 5 customers here- ummm. ??? After confirming my name, they said "they called my name". As they did not bc there was no drink present. They made snobby faced responses as I walked away to wait again for my drink - that "only took 2 minutes to make". Also, the customer before me had to ask for her missing drink. My friend and I were not sitting far from the barista counter and could here these ladies gossiping about customers and being just quite rude and snobby. Customer service here is absolutely lacking. The coffee is okay but not okay enough to be $10!!!!! The "secret garden" shown on their instagram is not accessible to customers- apparently it is only available for planned events.

What an awesome little coffee shop in the middle of McKinney. My experience is based on buying…read morebeans, but I will say that this place has what I think is one of the coolest menus I've ever seen in my life. The names of the food items are classic, and I can't wait to come back next time and try some of the food such as Manic Monday (egg, meat and cheese) or Down with the Swiss-ness (Ham and Cheese on a Croissant). For my personal experience today, I was looking for fresh beans. I first noticed TexKona, this is a roaster and they had great reviews and what looks to be great beans. The hours were limited, but I was lucky to see that TexaKona FM 107 Drinks and Cafe had a lot of the really cool beans from TexaKona. I walk in and the place is located in a large building. There are lots of other quaint shops, and this coffee shop looks really cool and has a great feel. The young lady behind the counter greeted me with a smile. I told her I was looking for beans and she began explaining the different beans they have there. She even offered to make shots so I can sample the beans. While I didn't take her up on trying shots, I did take her advice on what beans to buy, and for my first trip, I purchased two bags of Journalist Blend. I'll sit on these beans for 2-3 days since I'm just now finishing my last bag of existing coffee, but I look forward to dialing in these beans. Back to TexaKona. The place is clean, very cool look, and they provide incredible service. I will return, and I will bring the wife!

From the owner: Kings Koffee is a micro-roaster based in Allen, Texas. We specialize in single-origin roasts, which…read moreis to say we do not offer Coffee Blends at this time. In addition to our single origin offerings, we only roast small batches. Small batch roasting allows us to keep control of our quality and contain our bean loss in the event that one of our roasts does not produce according to our standards. Because we only roast single origins and in small lots our sales model is based on a limited amount of finished product being available for purchase. Once it is roasted, and all of it is sold we move on to our next single origin product. This system allows us to keep our product waste to a minimum; our cost lower, and provides our customers with unique and fresh coffee. What Makes Us Different from Large Retail Roasters: As with any type of produce, coffee crops have cycles. These cycles are what allow us to obtain different coffee's at different times of the year, which means we can offer coffee's to our customers that large retailers cannot. The "Big Boys" order millions of pounds of the same coffee every year from massive "Estate" coffee plantations. Smaller coffee farms that offer rare and interesting coffees are skipped over because they cannot produce enough beans to satisfy the demand of large roasters. This means that Kings Koffee can purchase these smaller farmers product and offer a unique creation to our customers...

It had no espresso and no cold foam, even though the menu lists cold foam as part of the drink. We went back hoping they would simply remake it correctly, but instead we were met with some of the worst customer service I've experienced. Rather than apologizing or trying to make it right, the baristas insisted my husband "didn't say dirty" and then told us we had to specifically ask for the cold foam, even though it's advertised as being included. To top it off, they charged us an additional $3+ for the cold foam and 1 shot of espresso. A drink that was already around $7 ended up costing over $10 just to receive what the menu originally described. Mistakes happen, and I completely understand that. What I don't understand is the lack of accountability and the unwillingness to provide good customer service. A simple apology and a willingness to fix the mistake would have gone a long way. I wanted to support, but after this experience, I won't be back.

I want to note that I wasn't greeted when I walked in, which I didn't mind at all. However, after placing my order, I watched at least four customers who arrived after me receive their drinks before mine was even started. When I asked why my coffee was being made after everyone who came in later, I was told it "takes a bit of time," which doesn't explain why it hadn't been started yet. When I pointed out that orders should be made in the order received, I was told the employee working alongside her was new -- which isn't a reasonable excuse for my order being overlooked. I also want to mention that no apology was offered, and the attitude I received in response to a reasonable question felt dismissive. Many customers, myself included, are visiting before work and need timely service. A twenty-minute wait for a single pour-over coffee, especially after being passed over multiple times, is not the experience I'd expect. I hope this feedback is helpful in improving service consistency, particularly around order sequencing and customer interactions.
