Best kept secret in McKinney! We found this place in a Yelp search, and decided to check it out (it was only 2 miles from where we were eating lunch.) They've been in this location for going on 7 years now!!! One thing to make clear: the name is not Pacific Tradewinds as listed on Yelp. It's TexaKona Coffee Roasters. I tried an 8 oz. chai latte, while my boyfriend ordered an 8oz. latte and a sample of one of the medium roasts (can't remember which one). My chai latte was fantastic (much better than Starbucks), as was the regular latte. We also purchased a bag of the Swahili Six Gun coffee beans and have been extremely pleased with that purchase. I want a bag of the Journalist beans next! We found out that Dave (the roaster) gives tours on Saturdays, and Gregg (our barista) gives terrific recommendations on the coffee. We were happy to discover a second location will be opening soon near the old flour mill downtown and look forward to visiting that location. Before we left, Dave gave us a sample package of their special Texas pecan coffee brittle. You'll love it!!! If you are looking for a great cup of coffee, you gotta try TexaKona Coffee Roasters!

A great local shop for coffee lovers. The can grind to meet your needs and even offer small size 8oz packs. They're following all COVID precautions and have curbside as well. Great service and from people.

We've passed by this gem for years and finally decided to stop in. Glad we did! They offer unique blends and styles of coffee. The staff has been great and willing to chat with us about their coffee.

Pacific Tradewinds is our favorite coffee all around and we chose their cozy McKinney venue to host our wedding shower. The team at Pacific Tradewinds did a beautiful and simply perfect job in the set up. We had over 60 guests who enjoyed an exquisite coffee and dessert bar.Elaine and the entire team made this an extremely stress free and fun evening. One to always remember! The concept of an open coffee bar was a hit with our guests. From drips, to lattes, to flat whites, to personal tastings of their blends - our guests loved it! Connor was behind the bar showing some amazing barista skills with beautiful coffee art.

Gear coffee beans. You can always get the freshest. Their Bombay Bluebonnet pulls excellent espresso shots.

Ask the Community - TexaKona Coffee Roasters

How much seating (inside and out) do they have?

There are a couple of tables inside, and maybe a pic nic table outside. It's mainly a roastery with a few gifts and a small coffee bar. Their new location Texakona FM at the flour mill in McKinney probably has more sitting if you're looking to seat… Read more

I ordered an iced bourbon vanilla latte with brown sugar (a recommendation from the wonderful barista) and it was unreal. So, so delicious. It can get pretty loud since a lot of guests come to chat with friends and family, but putting on my AirPods helped me focus and enjoy my time there. The only downside was the cashier experience. She seemed more busy chatting with her coworker and wasn't very friendly. Another staff member was the one who asked me if I need help with the menu. After I paid, the cashier didn't even ask if I needed a receipt and just walked away. Overall, I still enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere. If the customer service were friendlier, this place would easily be a 5-star spot for me.

The names of the food items are classic, and I can't wait to come back next time and try some of the food such as Manic Monday (egg, meat and cheese) or Down with the Swiss-ness (Ham and Cheese on a Croissant). For my personal experience today, I was looking for fresh beans. I first noticed TexKona, this is a roaster and they had great reviews and what looks to be great beans. The hours were limited, but I was lucky to see that TexaKona FM 107 Drinks and Cafe had a lot of the really cool beans from TexaKona. I walk in and the place is located in a large building. There are lots of other quaint shops, and this coffee shop looks really cool and has a great feel. The young lady behind the counter greeted me with a smile. I told her I was looking for beans and she began explaining the different beans they have there. She even offered to make shots so I can sample the beans. While I didn't take her up on trying shots, I did take her advice on what beans to buy, and for my first trip, I purchased two bags of Journalist Blend. I'll sit on these beans for 2-3 days since I'm just now finishing my last bag of existing coffee, but I look forward to dialing in these beans. Back to TexaKona. The place is clean, very cool look, and they provide incredible service. I will return, and I will bring the wife!

This shop and roastery is owned by a guy who knows and is passionate about coffee and roasting, and is happy to interact with customers in the shop. He's got a small library of videos on YouTube on a variety of topics that are of interest to home enthusiasts as well as professionals. But how's the coffee? I dropped in for an espresso and a cortado, followed by a bag to take home. All of the products were based on their house blend, Ember Espresso. It's promoted as a "well developed medium roast", and I'd agree with that assessment. It promises notes of chocolate and caramel, with a smooth body, and hints of dark berries. Both drinks in the cafe (particularly the espresso) delivered in all point. The berry notes appeared towards the end, almost like a sweet farewell as the shot went by. My home shots from the bag (brewed on a Decent Espresso DE1) were very similar, with intense chocolate and that slight berry "punch", and went fantastic in milk drinks. The cafe itself is well appointed and inviting, and can accommodate a pretty good crowd. Parking can be a little tricky, but that's not their fault. Nothing a little walk won't fix. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there's a good selection of beans to go along with a nicely appointed menu of drinks. The quality of beans and drinks here could almost make it a destination for true coffee enthusiasts; I'm fortunate that it's only about 20 minutes from my home, so it's a no-brainer. Definitely worth the side quest if you're making the trip up US 75 towards Oklahoma or back.

Summer Moon Coffee (DFW Area)…read more How Did We Get Here? Somewhere between craving comfort and chasing the next destination... you realize coffee isn't just a drink--it's a ritual. And this stop? Exactly what I needed. I found myself at Summer Moon Coffee, leaning into a moment that felt slow, intentional... almost like time paused just long enough for me to catch up with myself. Let's talk about it. The Drink: Quarter Moon White Chocolate Latte. Smooth. Creamy. Elevated. That perfect balance of rich espresso and subtle sweetness--not overpowering, just enough to make you pause after the first sip. And that signature Moon Milk? Yeah... that's the difference. The Experience: Warm. Inviting. Uncomplicated. The kind of place where you don't feel rushed--you feel received. From the texture of the foam to the first inhale of that roasted aroma... it felt like a reset in a cup. The Vibe: Soft conversations. Natural light. A quiet kind of energy that lets you gather your thoughts before stepping back into the world. Final Thought: If you're moving through DFW and need a moment to land before your next move... this is it. Because sometimes, the journey isn't about where you're going-- it's about where you pause. And this pause? Was worth it. -- How Did We Get Here?

It's the perfect balance of creamy, spicy, and refreshing! And when I'm feeling a little extra spicy, adding a shot (or two!) of espresso takes it to a whole new level without losing that signature smoothness. My kids are obsessed with the Moon Glacier (no espresso, of course), and it's become their little treat every time we go. My husband usually goes for an Americano or their cold brew, and both are consistently bold, clean, and delicious -- exactly what he loves. Summer Moon just has that warm, inviting vibe that makes every visit feel like a small moment of joy. Great drinks, great energy, and something for everyone in the family. It's one of those places you look forward to returning to again and again!
