Vegan Sandwich

I will definitely be running back to Grand Rapids to try out this delicious plant based vegan location. The food was absolutely delicious me and my best friend cleared our plates rapidly. The service was so friendly welcoming and accommodating and the seating areas were beautiful and neatly clean. As far as parking let's be honest it's Grand Rapids and it's few and far between however I really do appreciate the parking on the side streets and the main streets. There was also a little shop that sold like grocery and vegan friendly items. I highly suggest if you're vegan or plant-based or driving families check out this location.

I come here for the coffee, and stay for the food. Fika makes gluten free and vegan food accessible AND yummy! This place is adorable with a market attached to grab some GF goodies for home as well. The owners are some of the kindest people, and have done some awesome things in the Creston community. Thanks for giving Creston a boost!

I have been to Fika a couple of times now. They're hash brown potatoes are yummy but I prefer to go just for their coffee rather than breakfast. The interior of the place is very nicely decorated and I really like the little market area they have. I keep going back for their yummy and unique coffee. It's very easy to park in the Creston area which is nice. There's almost always a street parking spot available!

Did you know there is a new plant based and gluten free friendly spot in Grand Rapids? Creston area is gorgeous and a great location for this new restaurant! Love the white and blue accents of color and the wicker lighting and the entire space as a whole. Each menu item sounded really delicious but we went with the breakfast sando and the biscuits and gravy. Both surprisingly good for being vegan and gluten free! The coffee was also very delicious! Everything we ate left us feeling satisfied and didn't hurt our stomachs! Can't wait to tell some vegan and gluten free friends to check this place out! They also have a small market inside where you can purchase more food items and merch. 100% take a chance on this place and try their food! Each member behind the counter I talked to was very kind and sweet too!

I've been a big fan of Squibb and Rise so I was excited to learn they were opening a new concept - Fika, a vegan and gluten-free cafe/market. Fika is the Swedish practice of taking a coffee break. The space is quite a bit bigger than I was expecting, which is great because Rise is so tiny. The blue and white decor is very pretty and inviting, and there is a lot of natural light. The menu includes sweet and savory breakfast items, as well as salads, smoothies, and a kids menu. I ordered a miso caramel cappuccino and the breakfast sandwich with chickpea sausage, and Nate got the blueberry short stack latte and French toast. We browsed the cute market area while we waited - they have locally made items, snacks, cookbooks, a drink cooler, and flowers from Good Good Good. The seating was comfortable and I could see myself stopping by for a little remote working as they have wifi. Our food took a little bit of time to come out, but everything was hot and fresh. The sandwich was hefty and very tasty. I liked the flavor of the chickpea sausage, and I really couldn't tell that the egg and cheese were vegan. The cappuccino was delicious. I had some of the French toast, which was also really good, not too sweet or dry. The tots were fantastic - perfectly salty, and super crispy. They have some outdoor tables on the sidewalk, and street parking on Plainfield is free before 8 am. Welcome to the area, Fika!

I've been so excited for the grand opening of Fika!! Rise is one of my all time favorite bakeries and places in the city. I knew that Nick and Becca would absolutely knock it out of the park and they did! Fika is the cutest little new breakfast/brunch/drink spot. With ample street parking, it's an easy 7am stop for me for the foreseeable future. I really love the interior, as it follows the beautiful design of local artist Kailey (Bailey) Sullivan, creating a fun, inviting, and chic atmosphere. The market area is one of my favorite parts. It's often a struggle to find gluten free, vegan, or other foods, but to have them in one place? Incredible! I think the addition of local artists and makers to the table is even better. The market really makes Fika feel like a futuristic, upscale gas station (or at least what id want them to be) where you can grab a quick, healthy snack and gift on your way out for a road trip. For those dining in, the seating area is decently spacious and really roomy, with great views to the outside. The staff was incredibly friendly and was actively making sure that guests had everything they wanted/needed. I'm most looking forward to trying the acai bowls and becoming a regular!

Wow, what an awesome shop! The space is giant and gorgeous and versatile. People were enjoying breakfast together, sitting alone on their laptops, reading books, really the whole 9 yards. It's rare to find a breakfast joint that can serve all three of these niches well, which is what most excites me about Fika. Service was excellent and the staff is friendly and kind. This combined with Fika's great selection of plant based food and drinks will inevitably cement this joint as a Creston staple. They also have a super cute market in the back of the shop which is littered with gorgeously minimalist plant based products. Also - whoever branded/designed Fika really hit it out of the park. I know Yelp is a food review app but as a designer I just have to shoutout the incredible craft that went into the space's look and feel. My only (and I mean ONLY, this place rocks otherwise) gripe is the price. I myself am not vegan/plant based, and while the food was indeed really good, it was also really expensive. Like, when I saw biscuits and gravy on the menu for 18 dollars, I felt my soul leaving my body and heading towards New Beginnings where the B&G is $7.90. I understand that plant based/gluten free ingredients are more expensive and it's tough to open a new restaurant in 2025, but if the price disparity is THAT apparent between meat and plant based products, then it's gonna be really tough to attract non-vegan dining customers. All-in-all, I really like this spot. Fika will almost certainly succeed due to its unique and delicious plant-based/gluten-free menu and its flexible, gorgeous dining space. There are indeed people out there who are happy to pay $15 for a grilled cheese; I myself am not one of them, yet I applaud Fika for providing an excellent dining experience to those who are.

While I was in town, I made a priority to stop by Fika for some brunch and I was not disappointed! The atmosphere there is very welcoming and casual, and the employees were so friendly. You seat yourself and order your meal up at the register. They will bring it out to you. Bus your table when you're done. All vegan, which is so nice. The Chicken and Waffles was the star of the show but the Tot and Sausage Hash was truly delightful, and I really enjoyed the vegan goat cheese. I look forward to visiting again!

OMG, I am so glad my boyfriend found this little gem. From the time we entered the vibe was amazing. The staff was so helpful and friendly. I have been vegan for 10+ years and am huge on not using plastic. This reastraunt did not have any plastic. And the food was absolutely delicious. The even cooler thing was in the gender nuteral toilets was free pads and tampons, literature on all kinds of stuff, an opioid o.d kit, and more. The little market had some great vegan selections and on the way out was a section to leave it take food. The only negative (and it is a me thing) they cook their tofu in the same fryer oil as other fried food and I have a soy allergy. I will DEFINITELY go back.

Hello Lovlies! Long time no review! So...just want to say that Fika is such a spectacular place with amazing service. The food is so well made and you can feel the love and intention behind the cooks and the service. The ambience is chill and warm. A place where you come alone to study (they got wifi), to hanging out with a friend, a cute date spot, or even meeting up with a big group of friends. The food being plant based and gluten free...was fantastic. Our favorite was the Chick'n and waffles (that we tried so far), the breading was not over baring and the waffles were light fluffy and vanilly. Everything on the menu looks so good, definitely coming back to try more of their menu. From sandwiches, salads, tacos, tots, to beautiful yummy lattes and coffees. Thank you Fika for the experience, you truly did embody the definition of Fika. (Also, they have a cute station to drop of your dishes and cups when you guys are done! Next to their bathroom)

Minimalistic decor & extremely attentive service make this eatery stand out among the many new brunch spots in GR.

how exciting to have an all vegan restaurant here in grand rapids. i feel like i should preface my review with the admission that i am not gluten free. so take my review of these bread items with a grain of salt. on our first trip, we decided to share the chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy. chicken and waffles: the breading on the chicken (tofu) was pretty tough to cut through which i was okay with but my partner found it off putting. I enjoyed the flavor and the breading myself. the spicy maple syrup was not spicy at all in my opinion. it also came with a side of butter that unfortunately tasted like coconut (a vegan's worst nightmare). there are so many amazing butter alternatives on the market that taste like butter and not coconut. i thought the waffles were a nice texture even sans gluten. overall i did like the dish though. can't beat salty "chicken" and sweet syrup. biscuits and gravy: the gravy was flavorful but not reminiscent of a breakfast gravy. the biscuit reminded me of cornbread instead of a biscuit. that being said, i thought the dish was delicious but i wouldn't think of it as a traditional breakfast biscuits and gravy. on our second trip we got the hot chicken sando and the quinoa spinach and apple salad. hot chicken sando: the bread this was on was good! i wish there was more ranch or some mayo to balance of the acidity of the hot sauce and pickles. my partner really enjoyed the sandwich overall. the tater tot's on the side were crispy and hot. quinoa spinach and apple salad: it's rare for me to love a salad but wow i loved this salad. i'd say this is my favorite of the 4 items we tried. the balsamic dressing was balanced. the goat cheese, though it had a slight coconut flavor, was delicious. the apples added a needed crispness and the crispy quinoa and candied pecans provided the needed crunch. service was fast even though it seemed busy when we went. the little market and coffee bar are cute.

The new space is way bigger and brighter, with lots of natural light and space to hang out, get some work done, and enjoy a unique beverage + vegan breakfast sandwich! They also have a lot of fun art everywhere, as well as plenty of cute and irreverent items for sale. Loved the Snoopy stuff! Nate and I stopped in recently to get something from their summer menu - I tried the reaper: vegan caramel syrup, cream soda, espresso, and oat milk marshmallow vanilla cold foam. Nate ordered the sacred heart: lemon syrup, tonic, matcha, oatmilk marshmallow vanilla cold foam, with a dried lemon garnish. Phew! They were both very tasty, smooth and not too sweet. I always enjoy the opportunity to try something unique, and Morning Ritual has always provided that. Also, major points for taking our names for our drinks! Hearing "oat milk latte" and then seeing someone else take your drink is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to coffee shops. It's such a small thing that can make such a big difference and yes I will continue to write about this in every coffee shop review ever, lol. It looks like the space will serve as a music venue, and their sign also mentioned a photobooth, which wasn't there when we visited, so I'm excited to see what they will offer to the community as they continue to bloom in this new location. Parking: metered street parking is available nearby, be prepared to walk a bit!
