Tempeh ruben (vegan)
Tammy D.

I found this gem last weekend when my vegan friend was in town. Their menu was very vegan friendly unlike some places that just serves my friend carrots and ranch The food was amazing! I had the pesto cheese omelette and my friend had the vegan ruben The atmosphere was lovely. In fact when we went to pay, we found that there was more cozy dining in the back!

Tempeh, potatoes (ricks way) and rye toast

Food was AMAZING!! Perfect temp, perfect seasoning. Pro tip: get your potatoes "Rick's Way"... the vegan aioli was perfection. Bottomless coffee was only $3 and self serve... loved this because I always had a hot cup and could make it with oat milk just how I like it. I definitely recommend trying the tempeh, it's perfectly seasoned! Staff was incredibly kind and helpful, getting us everything we needed. Ps. They have every type of hot sauce that you could want. Restaurant was kinda small, perfect for a group of 2-4 but it would be kinda tight having a group bigger than that. Only complaint is that the food took 45min to come out but it was so good that I didn't really mind. I'll be back for sure!!

I've been meaning to try Gaia House Cafe for quite some time now, however, I never was able to until recently! When walking inside, the interior is super cute! It's the perfect brunch place to go out with friends or even by yourself. They have a variety of vegetarian/vegan entrees, sides, and drinks! They also have an area for self serve coffee and water which I thought was really neat! I ordered the Gaia tempeh reuben and a lavender bliss kombucha. Both were super delicious! It was my first time having tempeh, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The only thing was that it was a bit too salty, but nonetheless, still very good! It definitely went well with the kombucha! I definitely want to come back to try their other options and their fresh juices!

Pesto cheese omelette, potato's Rick's way and special omelette. The homemade jam is always so good too!

Cutest little Creston spot for breakfast! We come here for the juicees, potato's and amazing omelettes. The Rick's way potato's are a must try. Cute interior and everything made here comes from high quality ingredients!

Mango and green juice

Went here for brunch with my sister and it was a lil hidden gem on a snowy day. The location is adorable and perfect for a girl's day brunch. They have vegetarian options. We ordered an omelette and since we are both GF, they replaced the toast option with potatoes that were delicious. We also ordered their juices. I got the mango one and she got the green one. To be honest, the mango one was not my favorite and my sister didn't like the green one, so we switched and we liked the choices we made lol Overall, it's a very cute location and I would definitely come here to have something warm to drink and a book to read in those little comfy nooks they have in their couch.

I have been wanting to try this place forever; I'm glad I was finally able to make it happen! The inside is adorable and very casual. Guests can get water and coffee from a self serve station, and then order juices and food from their server. I started with a mixed berry juicee blend that was very fresh. They had several items on their seasonal menu that sounded tasty- I settled on the omelette with contained butternut squash, black beans, jack cheese, and maple glazed brussel sprouts. It did not disappoint! It was very large and I ended up only eating half. My mom ordered the veggie stash and enjoyed the unique mix of flavors. The portion size for this meal was also very large- there were definitely leftovers! I can't wait to go back next time I am in town to try something new.

The beloved Gaia House Cafe is back and we just cannot even handle how perfect everything is! ⁣ ⁣ Gaia is an ICONIC vegetarian & vegan restaurant/juice bar/cafe that used to be located in the East Hills neighborhood of Grand Rapids. They were on Diamond Ave for 33 years until they closed in 2014. ⁣ ⁣ It is soooo nostalgic to see them make a comeback in none other than the beautiful Creston neighborhood. It feels like the most perfect fit for Gaia. ⁣ ⁣ (You can learn more about the history and how Andrea, the owner, worked to bring back and renovate the heck out of the now cafe in their YouTube videos titled "The Gaia Cafe Revival #1" & #2! It is so amazing! ) ⁣ ⁣ Gaia was and IS still known for their Gaia cookies and Mean Green burrito. And we are here to tell you, they taste just like they did 6 years ago! Our cookies were fresh out of the oven this morning. ⁣ ⁣ The Mango Pineapple Smoothie was so fresh and delicious that Gaia may now be my go-to smoothie spot.

It's my birthday weekend and wanted to treat myself to a luxurious brunch. Of course I chose…read moreLittlebird for the best French omelettes in the area. I adore crab so ordering that was a no brainer. Their coffee is strong. It took a ton of cream to change the color... though it was delicious with free refills for $5. The omelette was heaven. All the flavors melded well and I appreciated the crisp acidic salad to cut the richness of the omelette. My only critique is wishing the crab salad topping was a bit more decadent. For $21 I was hoping for big lumps of crab rather than cool shredded mayo based salad. All in all, I love this place, I love the concept. It was quite busy and was thankful to snag a seat at the bar. The service was friendly and quick. Best hipster establishment I've patronized in a long time. Make a reservation if you have a group or pray there is a seat at the bar. Keep doing your thang Littlebird!!

My boyfriend and I stumbled in during happy hour and were happy to grab some cheap drinks, but the main event was the burger! We typically like sitting at the bar as well and chat with the bartender who was absolutely lovely! The dirty martini was okay but I will definitely order something else next time as the olives just didn't hit for me. It's a quaint and quiet spot - you can read that as intimate - since it's not loud or rowdy, so if you want a really sweet date spot, feel free to check this one out! Otherwise, you can just go and have a casual, delicious dinner. Parking is limited with the street parking and it being so close to Monroe Center but you shouldn't have a terrible time finding something, even if requires a parking ramp vs street parking. I'd just recommend a reservation if you are going on a weekend or don't want to wait/sit at the bar!

It was a 45 minute wait today but my friend and I found seats at the bar and got coffee while we waited and we were able to order our food shortly after. Our waiter, Drew, was amazing and knew my friend from being a regular. He checked in on us frequently and made sure our coffee was full while we waited on the food. Since they were pretty slammed, our food took some time to come out but it was worth the wait. I tried the Jamaican jerk chicken frittata that my friend recommended and the spread was beautiful and it was delicious. If you like sweet and savory, this is the perfect dish with chicken and veggies in jerk sauce on top of frittata eggs topped with cheese and pineapple. Yum! The portion size covered the whole plate so I have leftovers for tomorrow! My friend got the steak and eggs and her gf got the hash Benedict. They both have been here before and I see why they went back. I will also be back soon! Other things to note is they have a shared parking lot so this is helpful if you don't want to do street parking. Also I would describe the ambiance as a higher-end diner with great service!

Our server was prompt and we ordered a few of the crazy fun dishes. I had the Love me tender dish which was a waffle with peanut butter, caramelized banana, bacon and a maple bourbon syrup. So when my family and I were walking around downtown Grand Rapids and needed a place to eat breakfast, we popped into Social Misfits because their menu is basically 90% waffles. My kids love waffles. Every kid loves waffles. Waffles it is! This is a great restaurant for families (because ... waffles), but also a great restaurant for adults because they have a nice selection of creative cocktails in the evening, and coffee in the morning. Social Misfits is basically waffles, alcohol and caffeine, in that order. When we visited in the morning, the adults opted for coffee (really great black coffee!) and the kids both opted for the Little Lad, a waffle topped with strawberries, blueberries and chantilly cream (basically whipped cream, but a little sweeter and whipped a little longer). Both of my children ate most of their waffle, which is a big thing, considering they usually eat like birds. We also got the Son of a Biscuit, which was a garlic parmesan waffle topped with chicken sausage gravy and a fried egg. You could add fried chicken to the mix for an extra $6 (we did not). This one was fine, but the egg was way overcooked! Oh well. Lastly: We got the Ol' Blue Eyes, a waffle topped with blueberry compote, lemon curd, whipped ricotta and graham cracker crumbs. This one tasted amazing, but there was so much blueberry compote and lemon curd that it made the waffle a bit soggy. I think the chef was feeling generous with the toppings, but homie needed to hold back a tad. Sometimes, a little bit goes a long way! Fifty percent less gloppy stuff would have made this waffle dish 100% better. If you ain't really about that waffle life, then not to worry. Social Misfits also has a few "not waffles" items on the menu, like salads, sandwiches and a couple of bar snacks. But I think if you visit this restaurant, you need to just embrace waffles. There are more than a dozen different waffles on the menu. They're all fun and well-thought-out. Pick one and eat waffles for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Honestly it was an incredible location for a space and had such a great vibe inside. My best friend is a regular at the restaurant and we're hoping to see them more in smaller capacities like when we saw them at the Fulton St. Market. Overall, the food was really good. I like the concept of fast-casual dining without the need to have a server. I think it allows things to feel more casual and allowed for me to be more willing to eat there (obviously in other circumstances lol). I got the horchata hot cakes with some of the papas with ghost sauce. I thought the pancakes were GREAT and more than worth it for the price. I was surprised how large and fluffy they were. The flavor was great without being too sweet and none of the flavors being too overpowering. My friends got the breakfast sandwiches and chaichata drinks and absolutely loved them. My friend loved her drink so much she got two within the span of us eating. I know it's a hard time for local businesses but I'm hoping there are more ways we can still see them around.

Different from the last time I was here but we were told to find a seat upon entering and that when we were ready, we could order our food at the counter. I looked over their menu and found lots of good breakfast taco options, the breakfast burrito I have heard is great, but what really caught my attention was the biscuits and gravy. I was feeling quite ravenous this morning and got the full order for $11 and a side of bacon. They had a table close to the entrance with extra menus, clean cups, water jugs, hot sauces, silverware and napkins. Seemed like a help-yourself vibe which I grabbed everything we would need for our meal. Our food was brought to us rather quickly and my bf ordered the breakfast bowl with scrambled eggs and sausage. He told me it tasted so good and he loved that he could make his own tacos with his food. He let me try one of the hashbrown rounds and it was perfectly crispy! My biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. The biscuits were so fresh and the gravy had a really nice and comforting flavor to it. You could get chorizo and mushrooms in your gravy but i went with a traditional sausage for my protein. My bacon on the side came in a tiny dish but I ate all four pieces haha. Once we finished, there were some bus bins under the same table with the silverware, we placed all our dirty dishes there and cleaned up after ourselves before leaving. I honestly felt so content leaving there and can't wait to return. I really appreciate the ambiance in there with the beautiful plant life, the lights on the ceiling, and cool decor in general. The staff was also SO NICE! Wins everywhere. I also noticed people coming in for takeout which is good to know in case I don't feel like dining in some morning. Please check this place out sometime if you're in the mood for some really good breakfast that doesn't break your bank account.
