The first of all the bread and butter and oil. It was the best butter i've ever had in my life period it had some kind of seasonings and it had some salt in it. But I loved it, it was very whipped and soft. I could have made a meal just out of the bread and butter. We got two entrees and shared them. We got the eggplant barada and some kind of mushroom ravioli that had a lot of garlic and I think truffle oil. It had a very strong flavor and some kind of cream sauce. It was a great combination, but I think if I would have just gotten the mushroom ravioli, it would have been too rich and strong, a flavor. The eggplant was fantastic. They make their pasta in-house and it has that great fresh texture. The mushroom and the ravioli wasn't cooked to death. It was everything was cooked perfection. I was hoping to save room for a dessert because we heard their desserts are really something great. I had my eye on that chocolate moose, but alas, we did not have room for it. The prices are a little bit pricey, but the portions are nice sized. We probably should have just shared the eggplant and had more of the bread, but anyway, i'm glad we tried different things. It was really a nice evening. I'd had lemoncello for the first time in barcelona and they had that or a orange version, orange cello and I tried that. And it was like you'd expected orangey. Lemon chillo, very strong and acute little glass. This would be great for a date night or some special occasion.. I love the décor and the vibe I like that. The grounds were lovely and they had 3. A campfire, fire pit, things going. So with seating around it, so you could hang out. It was a bit expensive, but I thought it was worth the price. The service mark started strong, but in the end, service got a little bit laxing. My husband had asked for water and his was out of water, and he brought ice, but never brought the water, and I asked a question about the entree, and he said he would go find out and never came back with the answer. But they were really busy. The parking lot was full and I. I'm not mad at it. I would definitely recommend it and come back if I was ever in the area. A lot of times I struggle to find anything on the menu that i'm interested in. There were several things there that I would have loved to try. We constantly had to swat them away from our wine glasses, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the evening. I understand the occasional gnat. But this was kind of ridiculous. The service was also disappointing. Our server mentioned that he had worked at the restaurant for quite some time, but he didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu and wasn't able to answer questions confidently. He was also not very attentive, and we often had to wait longer than expected for check-ins. Our food came out quickly but the wine always took quite a while to come to the table. The food itself was good, but when you're paying fine-dining prices, you expect the entire experience--including the atmosphere and service--to match. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues because it has the potential to provide a much better dining experience. Also, I would skip the sea bass entree. I was not really impressed with it and wished that I had ordered a pasta dish. However the server helped me decide and chose the sea bass. I loved the atmosphere. I loved the decor. I loved the wine and appetizers. But everything else just did not impress me. Not for the amount of money we dropped on this meal. I doubt I will return.

Am I in Grand Rapids or Europe?? The premise alone is enough to get people in the door, but the execution is what will make customers return time after time. The ambiance is perfect. Feels like a cross between your grandma's cottage, a cozy breakfast nook, and a Michelin star restaurant. The staff was lovely and attentive. You can tell that they put their heart and soul into curating a five star experience for their guests. And the food? Great. Not blow-your-hair-back, but it was great. We started with the shishito peppers, hit with a quick sauté and some parm and aioli. They were really just peppers, fresh and delicious in their own right but nothing spectacular. Our entrees were the pork ribs and the (some type of pasta filled with cheese whose name alludes me). The ribs were good, but the flavors were foreign to me. Black olives and ribs is a new combo, and while it wasn't for me, it was still great to try a new thing. The pasta was the star of the show, it felt like that scene in Ratatoullie when Anton Ego eats the ratatoullie and is transported back to his childhood. The ice cream was BOMB. House made cantaloupe ice cream?? I'm not a dessert guy and this knocked my socks off. I'd go again just for this. And the cocktails were lovely as well. I got a martini with olive oil, which was literally vodka with three drops of olive oil and some Maldon salt. Simple yet perfectly executed. My fiancée got a sort of gimlet which was also superb. Overall, Cafe Mamo reminded me that dining at an establishment is an experience, and that experience is influenced by more than the food. The service, atmosphere, cocktails and desserts were all truly top notch. While the food was a bit of a miss for me, I respect the rotating menu and the fact that even the best artists can't produce straight bangers 100% of the time. TerraGR: Some Great Dishes, But Overall a Major Disappointment…read more We drove about two hours to see a show and had pretty high expectations after seeing all the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, TerraGR didn't come close to living up to them. The Focaccia ($8) was probably the best thing we had all night. It came highly recommended in previous reviews, and I can see why. The pesto, 'nduja butter, and truffle pecorino worked really well together. At $8, it's a great value and an easy recommendation. Definitely a must-have. The Arancini ($15) were probably our second favorite. Very tasty, with a great gooey cheese center. The Calabrian chili oil, fried basil, hot honey, lemon zest, and ricotta salata all worked well together. Definitely recommend. The Pesto Casarecce ($25) was a completely different story. We honestly questioned the concept of this dish. The combination of pesto cream, fennel sausage, peas, garlic breadcrumbs, and Parmesan was just baffling to us. We ate maybe half of the dish and simply didn't want any more. The Scallops ($34) were disappointing as well. I skipped the jalapeño, and while the scallops themselves were cooked very well, the roasted corn, poblano, and chorizo mixture was cold. That was just a strange combination and really took away from the dish. I think it would be significantly better if that component were served warm. I did bite into several pieces of rock-hard chunks of something in the dish. My guess is chorizo which was extremely off-putting. The scallops were also a little too salty. At $34, the price felt excessive for what was served. The Short Rib Gnocchi ($28) was actually very good. The short rib ragu, potato gnocchi, and truffle pecorino worked really well together. Would recommend. The Brix soda was another head-scratcher. Just why? We didn't enjoy it at all. I understand it's local but just no. And then there was the Spiced Cranberry Martini. Unless you like unusual, heavy spice flavors that remind you of Jägermeister, do not order this. It was by far the worst martini I've ever had. I even mentioned to our waitress that I thought it was awful, and there was zero response. Service itself was fine. We were seated immediately, and the food came out promptly and at good temperatures. Our waitress wasn't particularly memorable, though, and I would have expected at least some acknowledgment when I mentioned how bad the cocktail was. The parking situation was also an absolute nightmare, which didn't exactly get the evening off to a great start. Overall, the appetizers were head and shoulders above the mains. The focaccia and arancini were genuinely excellent, and the short rib gnocchi was good. But we would not order the scallops or Pesto Casarecce again. Sadly, we were very disappointed with the overall experience. We came in with high expectations because of the near-perfect reviews, drove two hours for the evening, and ultimately felt that TerraGR was very overrated. And yes they do accept cards (no longer cash only). the owner (i'm assuming) was sweet and attentive. we can't wait to head back to little africa soon.
