Fig's Prime was my first visit, and it absolutely makes a strong first impression. Located in Altamonte Springs, the exterior is grand, parking is easy, and when I arrived there were multiple parties happening at once. It immediately felt like a serious date-night spot--also perfect for client dinners, birthdays, or celebratory gatherings. I went with a group of eight, and across the board, the steaks were the undeniable stars of the night. I got to admire a prime rib, filet mignon, and New York strip at the table--and every single one was cooked perfectly. I ordered the special: a 10 oz filet topped with three jumbo shrimp in a lobster cream sauce, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The filet itself? Perfect medium rare, exactly as requested. Seasoning was balanced and not overly salty (which is something I often run into elsewhere). The steak alone was excellent. The lobster cream sauce, however, was just okay for me. This is subjective, but I felt it leaned a little too creamy and slightly muted the savory depth of the steak. Personally, I would've preferred something brighter like a chimichurri--or if going the lobster route, perhaps a full lobster tail instead of shrimp to really justify the pairing. The shrimp were fine, but they felt like they were competing with what could have been. The asparagus was my only real food gripe--it was small and limp. Properly cooked, thicker asparagus can be vibrant green with a soft crunch. This missed that mark. We started with beef carpaccio and grilled oysters. The oysters were dressed heavily (almost like a potato-skin style topping with bacon and spinach). Not my preferred preparation, but they were ordered for the table, so I joined in. The ambiance was spot on. Lighting was balanced--not too dim, not too bright. The booths were beautiful. Service was excellent: quick to pre-bus, attentive with water refills, helpful with suggestions, and even brushing crumbs from the tablecloth. Very polished. My one logistical complaint: the restrooms. For a fairly large venue, there's only one locked stall per men's and women's room, which caused small lines and even some crossover between guests. That felt like an oversight for a space built for larger parties. One thing I did miss? Complimentary bread. At this price point, that small touch would've elevated the experience. Dessert, however, redeemed everything. The pistachio gelato was the perfect finishing move--authentic, nutty, and not artificially green. Exactly what I needed after a rich, savory meal. I don't usually gravitate toward high price tags, but this experience felt worth it. I chose the special for perceived value, but next time I'd likely order the filet mignon on its own and let the steak shine without the extra embellishments. Overall, Fig's Prime delivers on atmosphere, service, and steak execution. Bar tender tried to serve incorrect drinks twice while waiting for our reservation. Once seated it took another hour to be served. Steak had no flavor though was cooked almost to medium rare. I ordered the Shrimp Pesto Pasta, it was really good, a little on the oily side but it was good, huge Shrimp and the pasta perfectly cooked. My one recommendation was they need some Garlic bread served with it, the waitress said it was a new item, and they may consider adding that. This has been our go-to restaurant for every celebration, & business event for years (though I don't always "check in"). After tonight... maybe second string. The food is still delicious, but we were not treated with welcoming arms like we have since they opened. We felt almost unwelcome, & for a special wedding anniversary, it's off-putting. I totally get it that happy hour specials are at the bar. But to make a guest feel like they're lower-class by doing happy hour specials before full-price meals was uncool. (When we were told we could only do happy hour specials at the bar, we thought "OK, we'll enjoy appetizers there first, then move to a table for entrees," but having been made to feel like second-class citizens for doing so made us not even want regular meals.) We enjoyed our time despite the cold shoulder (though Gabby was pleasant. We have decided that we'll no longer eat here for our momentous events. I've also come to past for dinner and enjoy their steak and table service as well. I personally enjoy the bar better than the way. The seating is set up because I do feel like the tables are too close to each other for my comfort but other than that, the service is always great and the food is always on point. We visited Fig's Prime for a birthday celebration dinner. It was a group of a little over a dozen people. We were able to be seated within a short period of time. We were all together on the right side of the restaurant. The restaurant is very intimate and appealing and yet still suitable for groups. There was also another party if diners who were celebrating a birthday. The seating is very comfortable. The staff is great. Our wait staff answered any questions we had and offered recommendations. The food was delicious. The oysters were great. I especially loved the Shrimp & Grits. The grits was creamy and had the right amount of flavor and cheese. Came here for Happy Hour--really great specials, especially on food. Favorites were the beef carpaccio and the shrimp scampi. The prosciutto flatbread had way too much Gorgonzola on it. Came here one evening with some friends whom this is their favorite restaurant. The ambiance is pure luxury. You walk in and you feel very upscale. Fancy tablecloths, fancy light fixtures, overly polite servers, the whole nine. We started off with the Goat Cheese Croquettes (served over caramelized onions, pears and figs in a butter-almond liqueur). Really good dish. The sweetness of the fruit, the bitterness of the arugula, the savoriness of the onions, all pair uniquely and so well with that tangy goat, as well as with the crunch from the breading of the fry. So good. So my main event, I got the 16 oz Prime New York Steak, medium rare of course. Just a note, premium hand-cut steaks are prepared on the grill topped with butter, served with complimentary potatoes and asparagus - no substitutions please. So be ready for that. Not that their asparagus and potatoes are bad, but it's just a huge lack of creativity. Anyway, the steak was good. Great sear, well seasoned, a proper cook throughout. The best cooked steak of that thickness that I've had in a while. Kudos to Fig. And I'm not sure about the asparagus, but I always order mash with steaks anyway. I also got to try the 16 oz Veal Chop, cooked medium (gorgonzola crust and honey balsamic glaze). This is it. This veal chop is the reason to come to this restaurant. Amazing cook, the thickness of the chop really accentuated the natural flavor of the veal, served on the bone which was badass, and the accompaniments added a nice depth of flavor that kept every bite of this chop interesting. Wonderful. We finished off with the Chocolate Rum Torte (flourless chocolate torte, fudge like consistency served with raspberry sauce and whipped topping). It was good, exactly as described, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping for, so unless you're a raging chocoholic, get the bread pudding like I wanted to. Overall, as very nice meal. Pros: Ambiance was gorgeous. It looks like the bottom of an office building from the front, but inside, it's a beautiful hotel style steakhouse, complete with dim candle lighting. Really a nice ambiance. Service was about the same level. White tablecloth, very polite servers, carafe of water at the table, really nice folks. And the food! All this place had to do was nail the cook on the steaks, and it did that. We had a perfect medium rare strip and a perfect medium veal chop. Cons: I'm sure there are economic reasons, but every steak or chop came with the no choice of only two sides, their mashed potatoes and their asparagus. Not cool. Would have deducted a star for this lack of creativity if it wasn't for the sides actually being delicious. Tips: Get the veal. We came a little early to take advantage of the Happy Hour but were disappointed that we could not partake since we were seated and they only allow HH at the bar. We ordered Espresso Martinis and they were top tier! I've tried them at many restaurants and Fig's has some of the best I've tasted! We ordered appetizers (Avocado Crab Stack & House Flatbread) and were ready to order entrees but our waitress walked off abruptly after taking our appetizer orders. The Avocado Crab Stack was slightly bland but the crab was incredibly fresh! My boyfriend enjoyed the flatbread so much he ate it ALL! I had a bite and it was really good but I'm not a big flatbread/pizza fan. Eventually, we were able to order entrees (New Zealand Rack of Lamb & Chilean Sea Bass) both were really delicious but I think the Sea Bass was my favorite meal of the night and stole the show! It was a buttery, melt in your mouth situation. Seasoned to perfection and the risotto was truly the best I've ever had! For dessert we had the Bourbon Fig Bread Pudding. That was flavorful and the strawberries and drizzle of sauce heightened the taste. We definitely should've asked for more sauce. We(and now you) know for the future. Things that bothered me: -The couches against the windows were difficult to get in and out of and were lower than the chairs. The difference in seating arrangements at the same table would seem awkward when people are sitting across from each other. I really enjoy eating at the bar here, they have a great happy hour menu, and it's the only time other than weekend lunch that you can get their delicious fig burger. The ambiance is really nice and they have lots of seating at the bar and in the main dining area. I am also a big fan of their fig and prosciutto flatbread and beef empanadas, though I do find both to be a little on the dry side. I have had their filet and it was good, but nothing out of this world. Happy hour is the play here for drinks and food, all of the bartenders are really nice and mix up great drinks! read more

Disheartening is one word to describe and our experience here and what could have been a nice night out for two parents. I don't normally write negatively about a business due to the amount of work it goes to run one and a restaurant should really be compromised by a Front of House/ Back of House rule book. The front manages the guest and food orders. The back makes the food and manages the delivery of the food. In this case we came here for happy hour and the FOH was courteous in greeting us and showing us to our seats. While we had a dinner reservation set we arrived early for drinks at the bar. We sat one chair down from the end which was next to the kitchen. Our bartender was very nice and answered all our questions. We opted for wine and a cocktail. When prompted with food options we asked for suggestions to which he offered the flat bread. We were looking for something substantial but light and were mesmerized but the ingredients and their description. What arrived was so sad and scary we weren't sure what to do. My pictures compared to those on yelp didn't even look like the same thing item (we checked). When we asked the bartender he said it wasn't burn the fig just cooks that way. We said ok and tried it anyway. The first bite I burnt my mouth on the fig and we both agreed it wasn't edible and it tasted disgusting. The bartender apologized and quickly returned the item and started on a new one. The problem here is we could hear the kitchen or head chef complaining about making another one then complaining about someone rushing the pizza out so it didn't "die". In the service industry this is referred as hurry the hell up and do your job. While we are not placing blame on how the flat bread turned out it's the events that occurred that dampened the night. The second flatbread came out and looked similar to the first one, but tasted edible. It wasn't anything to write home about and since had already been here for 40 minutes at this point we decided to cut our losses and go else where. We asked for the check and paid. We spoke to the manager who was very nice and kind but no reconciliation was attempted at their botched attempt at the pizza or the quality of what was delivered versus promised. We cancelled our dinner reservations while at the bar and had dinner at Domu. Hope you have better luck as the environment seems up scale enough to be good but the Back of the house and the chef could use some etiquette. read more

We had an amazing experience for Magical Dining at Fig's Prime this week, and I'm so glad we discovered this family owned local gem! I love that Magical Dining gets people out to experience new places they might not have known about and that's definitely the case here. I don't spend much time in the Altamonte area and this place is a bit hidden if you don't know about it. In my opinion, their Magical Dining menu is one of the best values available this year. They're one of the few steakhouses that remained at the $40 price point for the 3 courses and still has an 8oz filet on the menu. They're definitely not cutting corners or portion sizes here and the service from Kat was top notch. We went with friends to celebrate their birthdays which they also kindly acknowledged with a birthday sign on the table and candles with our desserts. Those extra small touches make a big impact on the overall experience. I started with the Egyptian Cotton martini which reminded me of a white cosmo and it was delish. We all ordered off the Magical Dining menu and my husband & I basically got the same thing -- caesar salad, 8oz filet cooked to perfection served with asparagus & mashed potatoes, and for dessert, I got the tiramisu and he got the bread pudding. They also have lots of great optional steak accompaniments you can add on and we went with the truffle mushrooms ($6) which were divine.
