This place lives up to the hype. Especially for a vegetarian. We got the two sandwiches with fried eggplant and both were amazing. They are super filling, the eggplant is thin and crispy and the sauces are delicious. Unfortunately it's only open during the work day, so it's hard for some to get to. But if you're around, it's definitely worth it. The line can get long around lunch, but it moves pretty fast. The fries are also super crispy and the portion is pretty big for a side. Not a fancy place, by any means, but such an enjoyable experience to eat lunch here in the winter. The family that works here is so friendly, funny, cool, and a pleasure to interact with. They were super excited about their episode debuting on the Food Network Channel's Chopped, and took a real pride in their business and food. We were given a few freebies with our meal, like delicious cajun chips and home made blueberry muffins. Sandwiches here are big and flavorful, and I enjoyed the generous fillings and crusty bread they came on. The arancini balls were hot and cheesy. Plus, they serve a really tasty brand of iced tea. Although the business itself is simple, they have a view of the beach that was pretty. I imagine this place can get super busy in the summer, but it was a quieter treat on the snowy day we came. My office used to order lunch from Figaro's before COVID and I always enjoyed it, so when I was looking to cater a small family baby shower I thought of them. The owner/head chef Rosie was such a delight to work with on putting together my order and in helping me make sure everything was individually packaged so none of our guests would have to worry about lots of hands touching everything like you would with buffet-style catering. They showed up right on time with our food, which was all neatly packaged and clearly labeled. Our guests raved about the sandwiches. I was told the roast beef in "the Manzo" melts in your mouth, and the chicken pesto sandwich was a perfect combination of flavors. They don't skimp on portion sizes either! I enjoy Figaro's every now and again. My recent favorite wrap is the Sonny Corleone. The food is good and some of it is even great. On days that they have eggplant the owner can make you an eggplant puttanesca to die for. What I especially like is that is a family run, local establishment with Italian flair. read more

Walked here for lunch with a coworker today. The line was out the door, which is usually a good sign. We both ordered the Luca brazzi on ciabatta bread. portions are huge! We both could only eat one half of the sandwich. The chicken, mozzarella, prosciutto and mushrooms were so fresh with a balsamic glaze over it. When I'm in the mood for a serious buff chick sandwich and it's not a Thursday, I get in a bad mood. Nothing else compares to the Whitey. I've seen people stand outside in sleet for a Whitey. I've seen the buff chick run out before 12:30. Everyone loves the Whitey. GET. THE. WHITEY. Figaro's is near and dear to my heart and I wish I wish I wish I could go there more (my expanding waistline holds me back.) Rosie and her brother are sweethearts and customer satisfaction is their top priority. I once ordered a wrap with no tomatoes.. the guy making it put tomatoes in it, after she took it off the grill she asked him if he put tomatoes on it, he said he forgot, she made him make a whole new one. Never mind the fact that I said I could just pick them off and it wasn't a big deal. On days when the line is super long, they'll cut up some cookies and brownies to keep the spirits up. Once my sandwich was somehow forgotten about and I got a free cookie to make up for it. A+ guys. Along with the Whitey I'm also a huge fan of the Sonny and the smoked Gouda mac & cheese (for the love of God try this.. your taste buds will never be happier.) When the weather starts to turn chilly, I love cozying up to one of their giant (seriously, they give you like a quart) soups. I still dream about the white bean, kale and chorizo soup. I am so confused by the amount of low scores people are giving Figaro's. This place is my favorite for lunch. Even after my company moved offices toward the financial district, a bunch of us still make pilgrimages to the leather district. Some of my favorite sandwiches include the D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Whitey Bulger and any of their steak subs for when I'm nursing a Friday hangover I can't quite kick. I can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff either. Rosie is the best and sometimes she'll give you a free pastry or maybe even a bite of gelato in the summertime. No matter what, she definitely makes you feel welcome. Yes, it's busy - but isn't that a good thing? Do you really want to be the only person in a sandwich store at all times? If so, well then yes, this place will probably annoy you. Granted, it is a bit of a luxury at $8+ a sandwich, but being that it lasts me for two meals, I'm happy to whip out the cash. read more

After being a frequent Figaro's client, I have to say this is by far the best sandwich/breakfast/lunch place in the Boston area. I am so lucky to work right down the street from it. The staff there are incredibly friendly and thoughtful too. They will remember you, ask you about your life, remember that, offer to help with things, and recall your favorite sandwich. In a way, they feel like family! Everyone that I've seen come out of there has a smile on his/her face. My favorite items to order are the bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. By far the best Pesto Chicken sandwich I've had in Boston. The bread is fresh and crunchy, the chicken is soft and tender, and tomatoes also fresh - not frozen, and the cheese fantastic. The sandwich is also pretty big in size, so it's well worth the price. Everyone in the store is very friendly and nice. It's best to get there before the rush because otherwise there's a line out the door - though they do fulfill orders very quickly. They have specials everyday, but my coworker swears by the Whitey special on Thursdays. Also, for a limited time they are doing a thing where if you pay with cash you get a free drink of your choice or kettle chips. I really, really like this place! It's like eating at your sister's house.... if your sister happens to be a superstar in the kitchen! Not only was the food really good and really well made but the prices are more than affordable. The best part about Figaro's is the company. I usually go to Figaro's for breakfast since my office is nearby. Their omelets are great and really large for $4.95. They are infinitely customizable and they don't start tacking on per item charges (at least not for veggies). The women who owns the place is really nice, and remembers my orders from earlier. There's a good family owned vibe and everyone has always been very nice. I've also gotten their salads for lunch; they are fresh and delicious! While I don't get the sandwiches very often, I'm surprised by people's complaints regarding price. $6-8 is totally the price range for sandwiches in the financial district and at Figaro's your $8 is going to a locally owned joint, not corporate Viga or Sebastian's. read more

I love this place! Rosie and her crew make you feel like you're part of the family--right from the very first visit. But it's not just the friendly vibe that has kept me coming back each day for more than two years; their wraps are fantastic! My favorite is the Stachino. Oh my lawd, I really should not have eaten Figaro's the day after eating a work of art masquerading as a sandwich from Flour. The bread on the prep boards being whipped into sammies looked good but for some reason I opted for a wrap - the Augustino. The turkey and pepperoni combo intrigued me and it was ready in a jiffy. I got back to my desk, unwrapped, and upon first viewing, sensed what was about to take place: disappointment. A bit bland, with sad ingredients, though definitely edible and well constructed. My test for knowing if a sandwich was truly special is if it staves off the afternoon choco mania - let's just say there's a mini Kit Kat wrapper in my trash right now :( The staff is really nice and it's not too insanely busy during lunch so it's fine in a pinch and bumped a star. The first time I walked into Figaro's I felt like I was visiting old friends. The staff was friendly and welcoming. If I could offer one piece of advice it would be to know what you want before you get in line, or at least before it's your turn to order. These ladies move the line quickly, and don't have much patients for hems or haws. Don't get me wrong, they'll answer questions or make a suggestion, but don't think too long about it. The food has a great homemade quality and taste to it, like you've stopped by grandma's for a quick bite before going back to work. The portions are pretty big, so bring your appetite. And check out the daily specials, from my experience those are the best things on the menu (that's why they're the specials). On my second trip into Figaro's the a couple of the staff members remembered me even though it had been a little over a week since my first visit. Now it really feels like visiting old friends! Upgrading my review from 3 to 5 stars. They still continue to have quality lunch in my neighborhood, and fantastic service. A month or so ago, they started serving gelato. They get it straight from Italy, and trust me, I've traveled the world and have tasted gelato from all corners, and I will say the gelato at Figaro's is the real deal. Tucked away on a side street hidden in the Leather District, lies a great little sub shop called Figaro's. You can tell from the name that it has nothing to do with the encroaching Chinatown residents and establishments that also inhabit this neighborhood. This is a good ol' I-talian style sub shop, and I am a fan. - I went here looking for a place to sit and read while I had lunch. It wasn't that crowded inside - they do a brisk take-out business. The people working here were very friendly and even asked me how I liked the sandiwich, and that it was good to see me as I left. - They got a nice menu full of really nice sandwiches. I immediately settled on "The Goodfella", really just cause I like that movie so much. - It was pretty good. It's a sizeable sub stuffed with capicuola, proscitto, salami and provolone cheese. Tomato, red onion and lettuce and hots and oil. I thought it was all right. The bread - the bread was tough. It certainly wasn't fresh-baked. Check out a sub from Al's nearby to see what I mean. Their sub rolls are awesome. This was a little tough. I actually hurt my jaw chewing on this. I have never had that pain before so I will attribute it to my getting old, and not the bread itself. Got the sonny corleon and my God is it good. I got it with rice and it came out to $10 which is a bit much for the quantity. I wasn't quite full after the sandwich, but very very content. The sandwich came in a tortilla that was pressed to add a bit of a crunch which added to the enjoyment of the meal. The inside was all melted together with the mozzarella cheese and was just perfect. I ran down there for a quick sandwich the other day and the place was packed but the line moved quickly, methodically and everyone seemed super friendly. Another patron asked where a few of the ladies were and the woman in charge (who is a doll by the way!) was pretty blunt that some of the staff wasn't working out for various reasons. Thursday is Whitey day, and it is a grilled buffalo chicken wrap with seasoned rice and either ranch or blue cheese dressing. This is one of the best places for sandwiches. I recommend the Sonny Corleone and the Fellini. The cookies are also pretty good, and I don't even like cookies. They also serve cookies for free to all the people waiting in line for their fantastic food. The only reason i have not given them a five is because of lack of consistency. 8/10 times the sandwiches are great. Wow, this place is amazing. All the sandwiches and wraps are great! They are large and filling and delicious. You also get a free brownie or blondie with your order (I'd recommend the blondie, which contained nuts for some extra crunch and flavor; the brownie was too chocolatey for me). The staff are really friendly and efficient; they work very well together to make all sandwiches fresh... except.... they are well aware of the popularity of their Thursday special, the buffalo chicken "Whitey" wrap, so they prepare a bunch ahead of time. This place is right around the corner from my office and I love coming here when I don't want to walk too far. It's packed around lunch time like any other restaurant in the city, but totally worth waiting for. Sonny Corleone (without rice) is my favorite thing to get. It does take a while to make though so do keep that in mind if you order it. The chili here is also very delicious. I think one of their more popular items is the Whitey Wrap (buffalo wings). I still think the Sonny wrap is better. The staff is super welcoming and friendly. They definitely go the extra mile to make sure that your ordering experience there is pleasant. read more
