I went to the fig 313 to celebrate friends dinner with nine other ladies. We were 10 total and shared the private room, the private room is quaint with the large round table and a fireplace, it was perfect! Any more than that would've been too many. I had the "313 burger" which was outstanding! Each of us left happy, satisfied and very impressed. This was our first time there. The only thing that could be viewed as a negative, which isn't at all- was the end total bill because of the large tip we left, we were so pleased and thankful for our exceptional server "Alison A." We cannot recommend her and this place enough. Thanks Fig! read more

So so so good. Tiny little San Clemente Treasure that is so good I dread telling my friends about it. The food, ambiance, staff, and cocktails are all top notch. The menu doesn't have a TON of options but so far every time we've visited I've been able to ask for a custom dish putting a few different entrees together. I have never had a better piece of salmon and the ginger, carrot, coconut soup (served on occasion) is worth ordering one to go - for tomorrow's lunch! Not always easy to get in, but so worth cozying up to the bar or sitting outside around the fire pit to experience 313! read more

Out of signature dish at opening and wanted to substitute cabbage for potatoes (which I won't eat) And was told no I could not ask the chef to do that. read more

It's so great to have a fab new dining option in San Clemente. The owners did a great job utilizing the space and it has a cool vibe. There is a great patio for outdoor seating. We loved the grilled cauliflower and the tuna tartare. The service was exceptional- our server went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Enjoy! read more

My friend suggested Fig 313 for dinner tonight and I was excited to try it -always wanting new restaurants in town to frequent! The ambiance was super nice and the menu looked good. Our server was really friendly and told us the chef trained in a Michelin star restaurant so we were looking forward to the meal. We both decided to have the 313 Burger.......My husband loves burgers so I thought I'd try it and if it was good, I would bring him there. What a disappointment - my friend and I were so bummed. The meat had no flavor and I think they forgot to put the dressing on the bun, we realized after the fact. The slice of provolone cheese was so thick and hard you could not even cut into it. The chef burns the logo into the top of the bun which was cute but made the bun taste burned. There were fresh sliced apples on the burger which sounded yummy but just did not quite work. The fries took up most of the plate and were just ok. I told the server about the hard cheese when he came by and he offered to send it back but I was kind of over it. I really just wanted the chef to know. Servers and hostess were really friendly and welcoming so that was a plus. Maybe after they work the kinks out with the food, it will improve. Sure hope so. We need more good restaurants in town. read more

Great vibe. Awesome cocktails. I recommend their old fashion. The outdoor fire pit is a great area to hang out and have drinks. The menu has several great dishes . I've had their special twice and each time it was unique and perfect. The kitchen spends time on details of the food presentation which makes the experience that much better. read more

Delicious food, interesting menu, and a wonderful weekend host. We will definitely be frequenting this restaurant!!

Incredible dinning experience from the ambience, people, appetizers, entree and deserts, great experience.

What a great experience we had at Fig@313! The decor was beautiful, the staff was very attentive, and the food was AMAZING! We had the lobster mac n' cheese for an appetizer and filet mignon that came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Can't wait to go back and try more delicious food from their menu. read more

A lovely addition to the San Clemente dining scene. I really like the fig theme ... so many creative uses on the menu. Subtle, not silly.

The food here isn't bad, just not very special, especially for the prices, which are expensive. My wife and I felt like we were eating the food of a very competent home cook. Disappointing, considering this was our first time dining out since the beginning of the pandemic. Our server didn't do anything really wrong but seemed a bit out of his element when he described the specials to us. Bottom line, not worth the money. read more

If your in the San Clemente area you have to eat as this restaurant. The food is amazing and ambiance is over the top!! read more

I'm giving Fig 313 one star only because zero in not an option. Probably one of the worst dinning experiences ever. Despite the best efforts of our server our meal was tortured by the ego-maniac Head Chef who insisted that we eat his food only his way and any request we had, no matter how minor, would be ignored. I ordered lobster, chef has his "special" preparation, ok, but I asked to have some melted butter on the side. I was told flatly no, then I was told they had no butter! After I challenged that, they said they had no way to melt the butter.... really no stove, no oven? But being resourceful I ask them to bring me unmelted butter in a small dish and I would melt it with the space heater by my table! They refused, so I tried to cancel my order, they wouldn't let me but finally brought out a thimble of melted butter. Next I ordered the New York steak medium. But apparently the chef does not approve of medium and sent me my steak rare... I spoke to two managers during this whole experience but neither could rein in the ego-maniac head chef. Aside from the horrendous and insulting treatment, the food was not that good at all. Chef's special preparation of lobster consisted of a half pound of cheese poured on top such that you could not find or taste the lobster. At $100 a tail, that was a big disappointment. There are many great restaurants in South Orange County, I would urge you not to reward the ego-maniac chef and choose another restaurant! read more

My husband and I were excited to try out this restaurant for our anniversary. Glad to get a reservation and sit outside under the heat lamps. Our server was so nice, but appeared very young and not confident in serving us. Do t get me wrong, he was really nice!!! The food was ok, my husband got the steak and I got the chicken. Glad we went there, but probably won't go again. . read more

Chris is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic server. Based on tonight's experience, Fig is now the best restaurant in Sam Clemente. All four of us loved our meals and drinks. The chef is creative and immensely talented. Everything is fresh and unique without being weird. read more

About a week ago, I had the best halibut special that was perfectly cooked from the peas to the beurre blanc sauce. It was so good, I craved it for a week and now my friend wants to go back with me since I've been raving about it! The drinks were great, place was clean, beautifully set up indoor and outdoor. The outside is set up with lights for a romantic feel and nice night out for great food and a nice ambiance. The staff was really nice but I had the pleasure of meeting the owners who were absolutely amazing and wonderful people! I had such a great experience, I cannot say enough good things about this place and am so eager to return! read more

My boyfriend and I ate at Fig 313 last night, 11/22/19, for the first and last time. As we approached the Hostess podium we were greeted with a friendly smile from a young woman. The older woman working with her seemed to scowl at us. We were seated outside on the patio which was quaint and inviting, although a little crowded with tables. The adobe building was built in 1926 and has a rich history. Being from San Clemente I appreciate all of the historical Ole Hansons. Our waiter was very young and he seemed very sweet. He did a great job memorizing the Specials and explaining how they were made. I complimented him. It was obvious he was still "learning the ropes" of Fine Dining. We ordered our cocktails. While he was gone I asked another Server for some ice water. He responded cheerfully with a, "Sure!" But he never brought us water. I asked another Server for water with lemon. He brought the water but there was no lemon. So I politely asked for lemon again. By this time our Server arrived with our wine and martini. Both were delicious! (I ended up ordering another Ginger Rogers). We ordered the equally delicious pastry appetizer (much like a pizza) which arrived on a small plate. Only problem was we didn't have plates to put each piece on. So we did our best to hold the dripping pastries in our hands until we could request plates. Once we had finished our appetizer our Server took our main dish order. I anticipated the need to request that he remove our empty plates from the table, and requested additional silverware. Each time I made a request I was super friendly about it. The reality was, I shouldn't have had to make any requests for water, plate removal or additional silverware. Our main dishes arrived and they were beautifully presented. I ordered the chicken breast with roasted potatoes, peaches, onions and brussel sprouts. Yummy! My boyfriend ordered the pork shoulder. There was a ton of meat! For dessert we chose a slice of the Pumpkin Cheesecake and took it to go along with the rest of my chicken. We enjoyed our food, drinks and the music. Our Server was a sweetheart! However, both of us agreed that the service was not what one would expect from a seemingly "High End" restaurant. Our bill came to approximately $132, and with a tip my boyfriend was out $157!!! We both agreed that we would never return. It just wasn't worth the money! P.S. I microwaved my chicken for lunch and after taking a couple of bites I noticed how pink it was inside. It was definitely undercooked and THAT explains why I spent some time in the bathroom today! Know what I mean? I threw the rest out. I ate the Pumpkin Cheesecake which was okay; I've definitely had better. I've seen many a restaurant come and go in this building. I think Fig 313 can survive if they beef up the training and lower their prices. Kudos to our Server for his sweet disposition and desire to learn the business ~:0) read more

Fig 313 - New American Near Me - San Clemente, California

Been there about 8 times in the last three weeks, that should say it all. They have terrific drinks and very good food. They do get busy, so sometimes there is a bit of wait, but they go out of there way to make you happy. The wait staff is very nice. I suggest the goat cheese fondue, and the cauliflower appetizer. The chicken and steak specials are excellent. The pricing is reasonable and the ambiance (especially outside) is great. Remember they are relatively new, so I cut them some slack if it takes a bit of time to get my drink, saying that it has gotten much faster the last few times. read more

We had dinner here Thursday night for the first time. What a wonderful add to our San Clemente restaurant scene. The venue is super hip and the outdoor patio will be hugely popular in SC. The service was gracious and very attentive. From the phone call to make a reservation to the greeting from the hostess when we arrived, Emma was a terrific. Our service was great with our waiter James too. The old fashion I ordered had a unique twist to it and I loved it. I had the lobster ravioli which was amazing. This place will be a huge success and I look forward to many more evenings on the patio. read more

For excellent service brilliantly engaging waiter delicious food, I give a hearty 2 thumbs up! Thank for making my bday magical

We have been to Fig several times before, but this will be our last visit. I specifically requested that we visit Fig tonight for one of their signature dishes, the Seafood Melange. I have always enjoyed the generous serving of mussels, shrimp and the large langostino that topped this cioppino-style dish. Unfortunately, the dish is now served with no langostino, much fewer mussels and the addition of couscous ....but at the same $45 price tag. When I inquired as to why the large servings of shell fish had been eliminated, the manager tried to tell me that the chef likes to make sure that only the freshest seafood is used, but it was clear that the restaurant is cutting corners on the quality while overpricing the meals. Obviously, the seafood restaurant down on the pier doesn't have a problem ensuring fresh seafood is available on a daily basis so I question why the chef at Fig is encountering such problems. Sadly, this wasn't the only dish where we noticed significant and disappointing changes in their menu - we also ordered the calamari, a dish that we had at Fig about three weeks ago. When we had it the first time, it was a generous-sized platter of tempura style calamari. Tonight, we ordered it again but tonight the calamari was about 1/2 the amount of calamari compared to the prior dish, and it was served sauteed with cauliflower to make the dish appear more substantial. We felt that many of the dishes on the menu retained the same names, but the ingredients and serving size were significantly less than in the recent past. Again, I hope the owner realizes that customers are smart enough to recognize that the diminished quality in the dishes is not about the chef's desire for only the freshest seafood, but much more about the owner's desire to cut costs. The most disappointing aspect of the evening was that the server never explained to us that there had been significant changes in the dishes on the menu - had I known, I wouldn't have chosen to spend $45 on five mussels, three pieces of shrimp and chunks of baked fish served on couscous. read more

First off, just want to shout out to the Restaurant staff and our Waiter Chris. He made our dinner a true experience and brought passion mixed with knowledge of the Menu. We came for food and got an Experience worthy of 5 stars. Get the oysters, prawns, and anything else Chris recommends. Lastly, the restaurant layout is beautiful and ambiance is on point. Perfect dinner spot. read more

Have only been there once & was under whelmed. Not very original.... And if you are going to have a similar menu to every other "fine dining" local non chain, then you've gotta have really great flavor that stands out. By no means was it bad, but there is better right in town along the same lines. Cork fee ($20-$25, can't remember) was too high for my liking. For us it's a max of $15 or it's just not worth it. We just stick with water and have wine we know we like and is worth it when we get home. The atmosphere is nice, although they're screwed if it starts to rain like it did the night we were there. The inside was full and several tables were mid meal outside. Luckily we had just gotten our bill. I'm not saying don't go here, it's fine. Service was normal and food normal, atmosphere was above average, as the patio really is nice! read more

We went last night for a second time and were greeted by Riston (sp?), with a smile and welcoming hello. He is a fantastic waiter and we had him take care of us the previous visit as well. The fig salad is "crave able" and I love the salmon and the halibut. My husband had the filet the time before and he loved it. The mussels look great too. The cocktail menu is creative and the wine list is delicious too. I truly love this restaurant. The outside patio is like stepping into a European cafe as the vines, lights, ambience and delicious food all come together to make for a truly special evening. Can't wait for the fall menu to come out so we can go again! read more

The food was good, it came out fast and tasted great. The restaurant was very loud and I was trying to speak loud enough my fiancé could hear me and the bartender literally "ssshhhh"'d us. Like he was trying to keep us quiet during a movie. We were so confused as to what just happened but when we turned to look at him his face said it all. He was even whispering and laughing with the guy he was training which was so inappropriate. We spent good money to have a nice dining experience and were treated like noisy toddlers. It threw off the rest of our night. read more

Went for Valentine's day and had a wonderful experience, definitely worth the time to visit this little place in downtown San Clemente. Made reservations and they sat us as soon as we walked in the door, very cozy inside, the patio was available but a little cold so we chose inside. Two top off in a corner, romantic lighting and not too noisy but is just a little tight with the neighboring table. The waiter was on the ball and came straight over with water and asked for our drink order. Started with two of their signature cocktails and we were not disappointed, sort of twists on Moscow mule and margarita and were just the right sweet and tart. The wine list is a little light but has a decent selection for the prices and would not be a deal breaker about going back for a second visit. We had the provoleta as a starter which had a port reduction and pears and was absolutely delicious. I had the filet which was cooked to perfection and seasoned just to my liking, while my husband had the seafood melange and in his words was unbelievable. The seafood melange was very similar in nature to a chopino and it was all we could do to not order basket after basket of bread to sop up all of the juice in the bottom of the bowl. Overall this was a nice little romantic place and I would highly recommend it for a visit. read more

Fig salad was delicious. Bread and fig butter pretty good. Halibut was a disaster. Arrived at the table drenched in cream sauce. No mention of cream sauce on the menu. Scraped the fish clean and ate it on my bread plate only to be told by the ignorant waiter that "most people know what a ragout is." First, ragout not mentioned in the menu. Second, ragout is NOT cream sauce. So chef and waiter are both apparently clueless. Waiter is an arrogant d**k. If you're not bothered by waiter arrogance, you'll probably just suck it up and eat whatever they serve you. If you know anything about fine dining, this place will definitely disappoint. read more

Great new addition to the San Clemente restaurant scene. The inside decor is really nice besides being a little crowded. We did move to another table because it was wobbly. Outdoor patio is nice and the fountain is a great touch. It's a new place so my expectations on great service wasn't that high, but Adam who was our server was very friendly and came back to make sure everything was going well. Food: Calamari was very tasty. Signature Burger cooked perfectly. I would HIGHLY recommend making the burger the center of attention instead of the fries. The plate was 1/3 burger and 2/3 fries. Fries were standard but they did come out hot which was nice. The mussels and clam pasta was tasty, but should have come with a side bowl to put the shells in. We asked for one. The cocktail I had was really tasty, but took a very long time to come out. Wine list had some good options. We ordered a bottle of motto. I would recommend educating the staff on wine and what would pair with your signature dishes and also pouring it throughout the meal would have been a nice touch since $8 of the tip is on the bottle. With all that said, we will be back. read more

My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at Fig recently and had a wonderful meal. We ate on the patio and really enjoyed the setting, the food, the drinks and the service. 5 out of 5 in all areas. We both had seafood with a side of Brussels sprouts that were amazing. I highly recommend Fig. It's definitely our "go to" for special occasions. read more

I really don't want to give this Resturant's 5 stars, because I want this place all to myself. First off the staff is awesome! Very friendly! The food however was not so great. I had the special Moon fish - no taste and bland! Excellent meal. Started with delicious cocktails (mine was an old fashion) followed by the little gem salad. The salad had a parmesan twill and fabulous dressing. Yum! I had the Scottish salmon. So delicious with the carrot purée, baby snap peas, fried kale and beurre blanc. My husband had the maitake mushroom "steak" which was amazing. Ended with a luscious red velvet cake that had a berry drizzle. Perfect ending to an excellent meal. By the way the setting is so fun. An outside courtyard extends from the old adobe house. A piece of history. read more

Just had dinner at fig . Not good , the special with pork tenderloin was terrible. Tuff fatty meat with no flavor. Told the staff that it was not a good experience. I came in the other night with my husband, first of all - great service from Alison at the bar top. She recommended amazing cocktails that she made perfectly. We started with the goat cheese fondue - I'm still drooling over it! We also had the provoleta with pear and figs and the pork pops, which came with a homemade apple sauce that changed my life. My husband ordered the Prime NY steak cooked medium rare - best steak in the area for sure - I ended up stealing most of it. The chef came out to ask us how everything was - great guy, very passionate of his menu and it shows. San Clemente finally has a good spot - hard to find good food down here. Will be back time and time again! read more

Called in to see if there was availability for tables and were told there was, both inside and out, and we said we would be there in 5. Arrived right away, multiple open tables outside, and were led inside even after expressing a desire to be outside. After questioning whether we could sit outside the hostess said no, there were reservations and "do we want a table or not". I watched two tables outside stay open throughout our entire experience. Very rude and disappointing, won't be back. read more

The food is good, but sit outside if possible. Don't sit near the very loud bartender.
