First of all, we were a large party that came here for a celebration, and the staff was so nice and took great care of us. The florals and scenery outside the restaurant are beautiful, so I would def recommend sitting outside unless you're squeamish around flying bugs (because there were a lot). For a large party, we put down a $150 deposit which was then deducted from our final bill. We didn't need to do a prix fixe menu which was good, so we just ordered off the regular menu. There were a lot of beverage options and food options. I personally loved the arancini appetizer. I ordered the breakfast panini as my entree which was just okay -- not very flavorful but it filled me up. Afterwards, we got to take photos in front of their flowers. My husband and I had lunch at Field & Vine when we spent a few days in the Finger Lakes a week or so ago. It's a very casual cafe located at Knapp Winery (but in a separate building from the tasting room for Knapp). It has a pretty patio (we sat outside and enjoyed the space), which has views of the winery, and the service was very friendly and helpful. The outside dining space and the service were definitely the highlights of our meal. I wouldn't say the menu is very thrilling - I might describe it as standard cafe fare; for some reason, it reminded me of menus you'd find at cafes at museums or other similar attractions. We shared a starter - their bruschetta crostini (tomatoes marinated in a balsamic, olive oil, basil, and garlic mixture, and topped with balsamic glaze. It was okay. The crostini were cut very unevenly, and the taste was too strong for me on the balsamic glaze. I had the Vineyard Chicken Salad wrap with chicken breast, apples, craisins, celery, onion, lettuce, and provolone. It was also just okay - sort of average chicken salad in a wrap, something I could definitely make at home. My husband had their grille cheese panini (with seasoned tomatoes, gruyere, smoked gouda, and sourdough), and he definitely liked this more than I enjoyed the food I tried. 4 of us went here on a Friday night in October. When we parked there were no cars in the parking lot and we got nervous. That being said when we walked in we were greeted by a very cheerful Geri. She explained to us that 3 other groups had canceled and we would have the place to ourselves. We bought a nice bottle of Knapp wine and it was nice. We had appetizers that were delicious. I had the steak and it was cooked perfect. I'm sorry to say I can't remember what everyone else had because I was enjoying my steak. All other 3 said they're food was great. When we were done eating Haley the chef came out and we were all surprised that she was so young but super talented. She was very sweet. Keep up the great work Geri and Haley!! We were so excited by the menu and couldn't wait for our reservation. The view was beautiful, we sat outside on the patio. We started with the kale salad which was absolutely amazing. The kale was crispy and the flavors were melt in your mouth delicious. The arancini was disappointing. It lacked flavor and tasted like a fried ball of sticky rice. They made us another order with "more cheese" but we still felt it lacked any real flavor. Five of us in the party tried this and all agreed. Lastly three of us got the pork Wellington. We all had the issue that the sauce immediately soaked into the pastry and potatoes causing the rest to be dry and lack luster. Not sure how that can be remedied. Steamed spinach on the side was tough. Two of our group members got the creamy shrimp and crab soup and said it was very good but thick. We did not get dessert. read more

Food was amazing. We came about 1pm on a weekday. Despite not being busy, there were lengthy waits. I drank my wine and water pretty quickly, but apparently there were to be no refills for any of us. I needed a spoon for my soup (my only food) and I still had to wait a while before it materialized. The waiter spent a lot of time at tables with parties drinking and eating heavily. They easily accommodated our reservation of a group of ten for a bachelor party/wine tour. We wanted to start with lunch and this was the best we could have asked for. Obviously they had a great wine (and beer/cocktail) list, but their appetizers were also superb, including the cheese board we ordered. You can do a tasting flight at the restaurant. Service was professional and friendly from the jump--and totally seamless. Dealing with a big group can be difficult (getting our attention, etc.) but if it was difficult for this wait staff, they didn't show it! Service was fast. I had their burger and it was delightfully prepared. I kept it simple myself and enjoyed a burger which was delicious. I would describe the outside of the buildings as "unassuming," and there isn't a lake view. But the interior design is very nice and there's a great view of the vineyard so the surroundings feel classier than I think photos of the front of the buildings alone may lead you to believe. It's not a knock on the buildings, of course, but this is a beautiful region of New York and I know the experience (including some of the views on our little self directed tour) was important to us. My highest compliments for sure go to the chef and kitchen staff. They did a phenomenal job and I know their work gave us a memorable start to a great day between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes! read more

Out on a Sunday drive beautiful weather, lakes calm, clear sunny skies and time for lunch. Our local relatives picked our Knapp's. Excellent choice. A side road off the Cayuga Lake shore road leading to yet another winery, brewery or distillery. This road led to Knapps, off to the left amid, no surprise, vineyards. Restaurant build on to a functional storage building, up through the wooden wrap around porch and into a very classy dining room. That was empty! OK...we went through to the out door, trellised patio. A grass area kept the vineyard back from the dining area, so we relaxed. Service was super. Menu pretty simple, but with less usual items on it. There were seven of us. Wine flowed and their wine selections were excellent. Menu changes with the seasons, so you can't really count on your favorites on every trip. Truffled Artichoke Hearts ($11), music for my wife who LOVES artichokes. These were lightly breaded and fried, tosses with Parmesan cheese and garlic truffle oil. Really yummy and portion large enough for sharing, but not for seven people. Arancini ($12) was another appetizer. Mozzarella cheese in Parmesan risotto with panko breadcrumbs and fried. Oh boy! A few of us opted for the very rich and creamy wild mushroom soup ($5.50 cup and $6.50 bowl). Ended up with bowl and it was so rich I could not finish it. Outstanding soup and this was just starting out lunch. There were sandwiches and entrees. I did not have these two items, but they smacked of different: a Bork Burger ($15): Grilled local pork and Angus beef burger topped with provolone cheese & balsamic bacon jam (!), on a brioche roll with Moroccan pepper aioli (!), Boston bibb and tomato. Who makes this up? And, Quinoa & Black Bean Burger ($13.50). I never got into Quinoa and it is all over the place, even here, but people must like it. This burger was Quinoa and black beans (natch!) with spices and vegetable mélange (too fancy for me) pan seared and topped with feta cheese and caramelized onion. Served on Brioche with bibb lettuce, tomato and harissa sauce (please!). You can tell that I am well over my head and now full of luscious appetizers, great soup and I can't remember how much wine. But more is coming. I had the shrimp an crab cake ($17.50) and wife had the chicken vodka pasta ($17). They had pork brisket, a surprise to fine this southern specialty so far north, but there are pigs around. And culurgiones ($17.50) which is Ancient Sardinian ravioli resembling wheat. Made using house -made semolina pasta and filled with Yukon gold potato, tarragon, parmesan, garlic and spices. Hand folded and boiled. Served in a pool of basil pesto and Parmesan pomodoro, with fried garlic and shaved asiago cheese. Are you getting a picture of how gourmet this restaurant really is? And we shared everything, with more wine and it was all totally scrumptious. I got a copy of the menu so I could write this up and they will give you recipes if you ask. Obviously, they do weddings here and as we were leaving, after more than two gorging hours, a crew was erecting a white tent in the grass area. Marvelous place that rates a rare 5 stars from me, even though it was my first visit. You just cannot make this stuff up. Service, ambiance, decor, crafted dishes and super good wines. read more

We had dinner here on the high recommendation from a staff member from a local winery. The best part of our evening was our server, Tameika. She was pleasant, attentive, and overall just lovely. We started with a cup of mushroom merlot and tomato bisque soup. The tomato bisque was too thick for our liking. It was the consistency of a tomato sauce. The mushroom soup was tasty. For dinner we had the seared duck and cornbread scallops. I hesitated to order the scallops because I don't think they should ever be breaded but figured I'd give it a try. The scallops had no flavor and as I thought the breading was not a great addition. It was served with a rice pilaf which was pretty bland as well. The duck was cooked nicely but unfortunately had very little flavor. We ended with a house made cheesecake with mixed berries and it was very good. The outdoor seating was nice with views of the vineyard. The chairs however are not comfortable and should really be replaced. So unfortunately our one night dining at what we thought was going to be a good meal was disappointing. read more

Apparently they set our reservation for inside, but it was not busy at all so we asked to sit outside. The inside was a little stuffy and not the vibe we were looking for after a day of wine tasting. We were told repeatedly that we couldn't move tables to make a table that would have enough room for us. Keep in mind there was hardly anyone else on the patio and there were several empty tables. We kept being told that the boss would be very upset with the wait staff if we moved tables. It made NO sense. So I insisted on speaking with the person in charge and he was SUCH a douche. He told me that the tables cost $20k and if we moved them they would be damaged. He was a total jerk. We are a group of female lawyers in our 30s and we almost walked out because of this awful treatment by this guy. He slammed the kitchen door in my face !!! read more

We were in the area for the weekend and went out of our way to come to this restaurant for dinner because we had heard good things about it. Although the staff was very polite and the food was decent, I was disappointed. They seemed a bit understaffed and the staff they did have seemed confused. All the wine was warm (whites and rose), water refills were slow. We sat outside on the patio which was nice but the flies, oh my goodness. We more than likely won't be back. read more

After touring Knapp Winery in Romulus, NY on Cayuga Lake, Dad and I were ready for some lunch, and thankfully there was a very nice restaurant right there at the Knapp vineyards. The restaurant is located next door to the tasting room and retail sales store, which makes it super convenient for people touring the winery. The restaurant is also located along the Cayuga Lake winery trail, and that makes it a great choice for people touring nearby wineries during the day. The Knapp Vineyard Restaurant sits in a standalone building with a view of their vineyards. In fact, there's an outdoor terraced patio which is shaded by a trellis of grape vines that looks west to the estate vineyards. The menu is surprisingly good with local ingredients from area farms, and including herbs and vegetables from their own garden. You can pair your meal with a glass or a bottle of their very excellent wine, or attend one of their special food and wine pairing dinners scheduled each month. Chef John McNabb has created a locally-sourced menu with recipes made from scratch to highlight the Finger Lakes region of New York. You'll find a lot of small plate appetizers which are perfect with a glass of wine. That includes things like a country pâté, fried Bloody Mary olives, and a local poutine. There are homemade soups like red pepper & Gouda, and a wild mushroom Merlot. The menu has lots of sandwiches and burgers, as well as full-sized lunch entrées. I ordered the Knapp burger which was an 8oz. grilled Angus burger, topped with thick cut provolone cheese, balsamic bacon jam, lettuce, and roasted garlic balsamic aioli on a fresh brioche roll. The burger came with house-made tortilla chips, a sour pickle wedge, and a cup of their 'Cayuga Caviar' which turned out to be corn relish. Stopped in on our way to the east coast. What a pleasant treat, just what we needed to break our long days drive. We ate out on the patio, and although our server was new we were treated royally. The brie was a wonderful starter, and the loganberry sauce was so tasty, we used the rest if oyr bread to get it all! I had the quinoa black bean burger, very tasty and my husband had the salmon cake special, also earned high marks from him. The restaurant is a great showcase for the wines we bought. It would be great if they had a tapas style pairing menu to taste the wines along side great food ... just a thought I wanted to share. read more

I would give 0 stars but that's not an option. Walked into the less than half full restaurant a little after 2 today, Saturday. We were seated quickly. That's the end of the positive part of the experience. After more 10 minute we were offered water, but that was after 3 tables that were seated after us got their water. We waited and waited and waited. 2 of the tables seated after us not only ordered their food but had already gotten their orders. When the waitress came to take the order of another table that had been seated after us we decided that was the last straw. We left - more than 30 minutes after walking in. Should have left sooner. We had been visiting wineries for the day, spending up to $100.0 at each. We planned to have some lunch before a tasting and then purchase some wine. Knapp lost up to $200.00 from us today. Bad Restaurant Food Ever!! Very disappointing! We were touring the wineries around the area and got this place for lunch. The servers are nice and welcoming, menu looks nice and price is very reasonable. Finally our food arrived, and just after few bites all of us gave an awful face. We have 8 people ordered different kind of dishes, NONE of us like our dish! The presentations of the food look ok, however the taste are horrible. They are all simply tasteless like just cooked with boiling water only. Or something just got out from the microwave. Even the fish steaks are no taste at all but very fishy and did not feel fresh. We are no picky persons, and we all found how surprise that all the dishes are evenly horrible. Hence, we saw many other customers cannot finish their dish as well probably coz of the taste. I would really wish the chefs reconsider their cooking method before they go on the business..... and I suggest you all go to any other fast food than here! read more

We stopped at the restaurant for a late lunch after wine tasting as it was recommended by Varick winery. I ordered the scallop dish and my husband had the cod sandwich and my son the burger. The scallops dish was soupy and saucy and unappealing. Once I took a spoon and tasted it, it was disgusting. The scallops tasted spoilt and rank. I didn't eat anymore . There was a salad that came with it and I had that for lunch. We also ordered the chicken wings and it was a bit rank too. I tasted my husband's cod and the fish was fishy. When I told him he also tasted it . I am not sure why a restaurant would serve bad food . Our waiter ( young) didn't ask if I liked my food . I attempted to tell him but we got interrupted by a rain storm and had to move inside. we had a lovely day wine tasting and was hoping for a nice lunch. That was a wasted $71.00. read more

Nice lunch after a difficult time being seated, of all things. Waited over five minutes without a hostess appearing. Went back into the winery and complained to a very helpful woman who turned out to be the retail manager. She got us a table and a dozen apologies from everyone to boot. Ordered a special pepper soup that was good and spicy. Then had morel Napoleon with hummus, and a delicious lamb burger. Waiter paired entrees with wines perfectly. But the reason I am giving this review was for their restaurant. Simply said, we had one of the best lunches ever. The atmosphere was the perfect winery feeling. Sitting among their grape fields (just in front of restaurant patio) it felt like Falcon Crest (for those of you old enough to remember that show). The food was OUTSTANDING. Could not believe how good it was and the cost was average for lunch just about anywhere. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend their lunch menu which melds many interesting ingredients into every dish. I went with a group of 6 people and we had the cheese platter for an appetizer and it was a perfect starter. I ordered the stuffed portabella at the suggestion of the waitress and it was delicious!! This is what I emailed knapp wineries with no response...to sum it up the brunch hot foods were cold to barely warm making the food blah with most likely unsafe food temperatures.. Service was okay. I believe we were over charged as we had a bill for $95 with 3 brunch @ 20.95 a piece, 2 OJ, 1 coke, 1 wine @ $4.50. This was a big Mother's Day disappointment. I am writing to share our experience at your Vineyard Restaurant on Mother's Day May 12, 2013. We were a party of three that had reservations for three o'clock and arrived promptly. The service was great however we were very disappointed in that all but one hot dish was lukewarm at best. Furthermore, we were shocked when we received the bill which totaled $95.xx for three brunch meals, two orange juices, one Coca-Cola, and one glass of Black Cherry wine. With the brunch at $20.95 per person I am not sure how our bill totaled close to one hundred dollars. Nonetheless l wouldn't have minded so much if our meal was at least warm enough to enjoy. I hope that with the next brunch the Vineyard hosts, better care will be taken in keeping the meals at a more palatable temperature. read more
