Chicken Parm
Ashley M.

Wow what a great place for tapas. Came right when they opened and the line was very long. Though there were a ton of people ordering we order so much food and the food came out within 20 minutes. It was amazing. Service was great even though they were slammed. I had gotten the chicken parm and it was great. Don't forget to try their garlic dip with bread. Amazing! The vibe of the restaurant was great and reminds me of a Spanish/Italian dining. Food was cheap for the amount of items purchased. Though pricing is not listed on the menu. Great place to go with friends or family.

This unassuming little casual tapas place is worth a visit if in Winters. You order at the counter and keep your tab open until you are done. We enjoyed the variation of dishes. A small indoors dining room and bar seats for 4 is in a modern air conditioned room. There are some tables outdoors.

We had an amazing experience! The place was busy and so we sat at the counter, but our food and drink were out very quickly. The staff was exceptionally kind and friendly. The quality of the food was exceptional and we were impressed by the prices. It is a bit loud inside, but that was part of the charm. Absolutely check them out if you're in the area!

This is like fine dining in a fast food type setting, you. Order or get a table number then order but the food is amazing, sort of a Spanish and European menu, put your number they give in your table and then they bring the food to you. Wine & beer beverages, plus their home made Sangria. My favorite dish was the Chile Relleno which pairs well with the Sangria.

We ordered Ficelle to-go during our stay in downtown Winters and overall we thought the food was pretty good. From the items we ordered, I'll say that Ficelle is truly a fusion of flavors across Italian, Mexican, and Asian cuisines. Beef skewers: Korean inspired flavors since it had a more sweet flavor profile. Meat was tender and had great smoky flavor from the char. I liked how bite-sized the skewers were. Relleno: Mole sauce was good, but this dish was too spicy for my tastes. The cherry tomato salsa provided was great for cutting the spiciness and added a refreshing note to the dish. Eggplant stacks: Eggplant was breaded, so it provided a nice crunch on the outside. The dish had the flavor profile of a caprese salad with the balsamic vinegar, tomato, and cheese. This was pretty good. Canelone: We really enjoyed this. It was like a crab and shrimp crepe sitting in a savory creamy sauce. Crostini: Can't say anything bad about a cheesy and garlicky bread! Take-out was ready surprisingly fast (15ish minutes), but they also have a cute patio for outdoor dining if you choose that option.

The Experience: The…read moreback outside area with it's own bar is very nice. For most of the year this should be where you ask for. The Food and Drinks: We "rate" Tapas outfits by ordering Patatas Bravas. Crisp on outside, larger pieces and host and moist inside, one of the bests we have experienced - highly recommended. Others we had were: - Coroquetas: Creamy chicken Croquetas came piping hot and definitely creamy. This is my favorite whether I am in Japanese restaurants or in Tapas places. - Steamed Clams: Great and good serving. Ask for breads to go with this one as you WILL HAVE TO DIP the breads in the broth! Price/ Value: Very reasonable for this class of restaurant for glasses of wine going $14 range, and many cocktail options and many Tapas items not even hitting $20 that means you can order a variety of things. The serving volume was very satisfying sharing between two of us. This will be our new "go to" places when we are back in here which is a lot!

Service seemed nice enough and attentive enough. As much the ambiance was nice, the food was meh. The bacon wrapped dates and cauliflower were the only items we enjoyed. Pig ears were chewy instead of crispy. Nothing stood out as great. Portions were meager; the jambon and cheese was the only item we had that was substantial. With 4 items left me hungry until those mini sandwiches. At $50 per person and 3/5 items not great, can't say I'd return for food. But if someone suggested the place for a drink, I'd make a trip, after a meal.

The man that greeted me had to come over from the restaurant side to help me as he worn himself how they ladies just left me so rudely. We decided that we were just going to order a variety of tapas and share them, which is exactly why I picked this restaurant. All in all, we ended up ordering the croquettes, the garlic shrimp, the empanadas of the day (which were potato and cheese), the patatas bravas, and a pork dish that I don't remember the name. We were a party of four each of us ordering something to share. I had a Sunrise Bowl with Steak and it was so goood. For me the sweet potato made it so light and refreshing. Sorry I wish I had taken pictures of our food. Their Cubano sandwich was amazing. This was our first visit to Park Winters with friends and it was such a treat for us. We had just moved to Winters last year from Hawai'i and have heard so much about this location. When our friends suggested we go there I got so excited about it. The best part of the visit was a personal tour of the grounds at Park Winters from Rafael who is one of the owners. He has got to be one of the most humble and nicest people I have ever met since moving to California. There is so much to see and do if you decide to walk the grounds on your own. I love how they have repurposed some of their buildings with old doors, wooden fruit crates, window frames for picture frames, just so much creativity in this hidden gem of Winters. We had different servers who attended to us and they're both friendly and looked cheerful. We got there towards the end of Happy Hour and was presented with their Happy Hour menu. The menu is small, easy to read and has almost everything we'd want for that time of day - including the drinks. The food is a 'hit' or 'miss'. Here's my review: Drinks: Both the Arnold Palmer and the Cadillac Margarita were good. My lemonade tea wasn't overly sweet and I could definitely taste the lemonade. The pitcher of Cadillac Margarita looks innocent but may give someone a slow and powerful buzz if you're not used to the drink. (4.75 of 5) Charcuterie: This a complete appetizer board. Overall, there were some hits and misses, however, we agreed this is a well thought out appetizer board. (4 of 5) Crispy Brussels Sprouts: This is the best dish here, featuring deeply caramelized, dark golden-brown edges and a nutty, earthy flavor. Their Crispy Brussels Sprouts is also the best we've had. The seasoning is on-point, allowing the texture to show off its crackling, crunchy bite on the outside, contrasted by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior. (5 of 5) Seasonal Tacos: "Oh WOW!" The explosion of spicy and tangy flavours balanced by contrasting textures makes this dish "pop". (4.75 of 5) Beet Salad: The colours were lovely, but this beet salad was over-salted. The vibrant dish featuring beets as the main ingredient, balances the earthy sweetness with contrasting textures and flavours. If this wasn't too salty, it would have been more refreshing. (3.75 of 5) Coconut Lime Bouillabaisse (halibut, jasmine rice, spinach, snap pea, pickled shiitake mushroom, coconut lime broth, basil oil): Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bouillabaisse means seafood. The only seafood we noticed were chunks of halibut, which were delicious. This dish looks and tastes more like an elevated Thai soup dish that cost too much. (3.5 of 5) After walking in, we decided to sit outdoors because of the loud music that was playing. We're glad we did. The overhang on the veranda was well positioned with plants and flowers softening the cement walkway. The weather was pleasant - with a gentle breeze blowing down the corridor. Parking is easy if you arrive early enough. One last note: Back Door Bistro in Vacaville was featured on "Check, Please! Bay Area"

There was only a handful of people already seated so I'm not sure if reservations were really necessary. I'm a reservation kind of girl so if you can make reservations then usually I do. I have learned that not all sit down restaurants offer the opportunity to make reservations. Parking is tricky in midtown. When you do find parking it will be metered. Even on Sundays they charge for parking. We ended up parking down the street at 19th. Not a bad walk. Thankfully my husband dropped us off so we were exactly in time for our reservations and when he parked he joined us. Just a note, make sure you put plenty of money in the meter. For a us a party of 4 eating a leisurely dinner it took us approximately 2.5 hours. We never felt rushed. The menu is vast and there list of specials was as long as the mini menu they gave us. I wish they would write out the specials you can reference them as you decide what to get. A little computer print out would be perfect. We were a party of 4 and we all pitched in when it came to ordering. My two favorite Tapas was the stuffed giant tomato and Pulpo A La Gallegos ($16.95) . Octopus in adobo marinade, scalloped potatoes with pimento. I think I've had Octopus once before, but I can't recall exactly. This one was delicious. I'm glad Ed ordered it. It was tasty, tender, and not chewy. The tomato was stuffed with maybe a ham mixture, it was part of the specials menu so I didn't quite comprehend what it was exactly, but it sounded good so we ordered it. The Watermelon Gazpacho was also very refreshing and tasty. I would order a bowl if it was offered again. It was also one of the specials. We also ordered the Pechaga De Paso ($17.95), duck breast pan seared in a Sherry & fennel sauce with Swiss Chard. The Swiss Chard made a really nice accompaniment. I ordered the Colas De Brusseles (around $10). I am a trusted Brussels sport fan so I liked it, though not very exciting. We also ordered the Pan Y Aioli Julia's Blancas ($3.25) This bread service was a nice filler, but not as good as I remember it. For our Paella selection we ordered the Valenciana ($49.95) My favorite part of it was the tasty saffron rice. I found the chicken thighs and pork spareribs tasty too. The mussels, calamari, and shrimp were plentiful, especially the Calamari. We were worried that we should have ordered two, but with all the tapas we ordered one was plenty. I'd like to try their veggie one next time. We made a dinner plate of sword fish into a tapas for the table. It was also a special. It was virtually flavorless, just like I appreciate fish. I don't like the fishy flavor so many fishes give off so this one was perfect. It came with mini potato and tomato towers and a very tasty mango chutney that I really enjoyed with every bite. For dessert we had the Crema Catalina Con Naranja. ($8) My favorite part was cracking though the sugar and getting the piece of orange. We also had the Pastel Almendaras ($8). I was surprised it was made with almond meal versus almond flower. The almond meal made it meatier. I used to use almond meal to make a gluten free quick bread so I'm familial with the product. The cake was tasty and I enjoyed the honey and orange sauce topped whipped cream too. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The out door seating looked very cute, but we were weary of bugs. I'm not a fan of getting eaten alive. We wait indoors and surprisingly it wasn't too cold inside. The restaurant is ornately furnished. The calla lily light fixtures was really nice. The restaurant was well lit and as the sun went over head they opened up the outdoor window coverings. This is a great special occasion restaurant. A great place to take family and friends to celebrate. The bigger the group the better so you have the opportunity to try multiple dishes. We came as a couple and weren't able to try as many dishes compared to the 4 of us dining.
