Daily Special Beet Salad
Cameron M.

First time in Hawaii but we had heard about Fete all the way back in Texas! We decided to stop in for an early dinner as we tried to adjust to the new time zone and we are so glad we did! We were greeted right away and seated by our very friendly server. The restaurant is very cute and inviting and larger than it initially appears as you enter. We started with the special of the day which was a delicious salad with Greens, Beets, Crisp Shallots, and Avocado. It was light and absolutely delicious. We then had the Smoked Ono Club which was super tasty and the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich. For the Korean Chicken the taste was absolutely on point, but I would have liked just a bit less sauce so the bun could have better held together. Overall it was a delightful meal and a great start to our vacation!

Cute restaurant on the corner of Hotel and Nuuanu. Had an outside table which was great, if a bit noisy with the cars, buses and lawn blowers around. Enjoyed a relaxed lunch with good food. The service was unusually slow. The amazing dish was the crispy potatoes with house made catsup...so delicious! The beet salad was delicious as well. The special veal salad was only ok but the burger looked good.

Located in Chinatown on a corner by The Daley, Fete is a nice spot with red umbrellas for some outdoor seating. We checked in outside at a table with a staff member. The inside is not super large but there are a decent number of tables and bar seating. The people working were sweet and timely. We sat inside. There were a good amount of flies in the restaurant, which may have just been because there have been a lot of flies lately. We decided to get the gouda cheese spread with the bread, which was good. The bread was nice and crispy, and the jam-tasting spread was sweet. I got the beet salad with crispy chicken. The salad was yummy, with a dressing that was a good acidic/salty flavor to juxtapose the beets. There was a good amount of salad and chicken as well. The chicken was also quite good. There were a number of other menu items that looked good, like the pastas and sandwiches. We look forward to returning!

Another wonderful dinner at Fete. Perfect place to eat at before shows at Hawaii Theater. Highly recommend making reservations on Open Table because its popular. They have a full bar with great wine and cocktails. The service is wonderful and our server was very efficient and reviewed the house specials for the day. We ordered the sweet land farm tomme cheese which comes with toasted bread, shaved aged gouda cheese and a delicious homemade jam spread a perfect starter. I had the kotean fried chicken sandwich which was delicious and we also had the pork ragu rigatoni which is also one of my faves, large portion savory and delicious. We had their coconut cake for dessert which was very tasty but a little dense. Wonderful dinner and service, one of my favorites downtown. Also they are dog friendly in their outdoor seating area just make a note of it when you make your reservation.

Service and vibe - very nice! Best was the grilled bread with some Tapenades- The smoked Ono sandwich was good- french fries were standard- Pot Pie....beef was tender but I like more peas and carrots and the bottom crust was undercooked- Olive oil cake was good but ice cream was too heavy so didnt even eat it-

If you're looking for a spot to celebrate or just want really good food, this is definitely a place to check out. We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and the food was phenomenal. I'll be honest--the service wasn't the best. We had a reservation for 8 and our table wasn't ready when we got there. They ended up squeezing us into a corner table, which kind of made it feel like maybe our table had been given away. Not the best start, but once the food came out, it honestly made up for it. We tried quite a bit on the menu and everything was fresh, clearly made to order, and full of flavor. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and locally sourced. My husband got the bacon-wrapped mahi special and I got the scallops. Both were cooked perfectly--tender, soft, and juicy. Neither dish was chewy at all, which can definitely happen with scallops or mahi if they're overcooked. The cocktails were also really good. I had an amaretto sour and it was made the right way with egg white, which I love. It was easily one of the best I've had. So while the service could use a little work, the food was a solid 10/10 and I'd absolutely come back for that alone. ENJOY!

I came to Fête in Chinatown for a friend's birthday, and it completely exceeded my expectations! I wasn't the one doing most of the ordering for the appetizers, so we ended up trying a few dishes I normally wouldn't have chosen myself, but I am so glad we did! The ulu appetizer was to die for. The flavors were incredible and practically melted in your mouth. We also had the carrot appetizer with hummus, which was another favorite of mine, along with the Sweet Land Farm salad to share. For my main, I ordered the Korean steak, which was unique and really good, but I have to admit the appetizers were the standout dishes of the meal. To finish, I had their famous rocky road ice cream. We were one of the first groups there when they opened for dinner on a Sunday at 4:00 PM, but the restaurant filled up quickly, which says a lot. The staff was wonderful, and the ambiance made the experience even better. I especially appreciated the small details from our server, like giving us handbag holders for our purses, wiping the table and replacing our silverware after each meal. Chinatown is not usually an area I enjoy going to because it can be a bit inconvenient for me and scary at night, but I would gladly come back for Fête. In fact, I already made a reservation to bring my boyfriend because I loved it so much. 10/10, would absolutely recommend.

Came here for our anniversary while on holiday on Oahu and so, so happy we did! The space is modern, bright, and welcoming. We sat at a table near the bar and enjoyed looking at all the spirits they had available We ordered a plate of "spreads" served with bread as an appetizer. It came with ricotta & honey, eggplant & red pepper, and a macadamia nut one. They were very delicious, we ordered more bread as we didn't want to leave one bite uneaten For dinner we had the quinoa "burger" with fries and the mushroom risotto. Both are worth coming back to Honolulu for. The burger was, for our taste preference, a bit too fried but it was still one of the best we've had in a while I also got the house made lemonade which was refreshing and light without being too overly sweet Everyone working was very nice and overall it was such a great experience at a local place where quality is obviously paramount Highly recommend and will be back next time when on the island!

Was excited to try this place for a very long time! Everyone felt the apps/pupus were better than the actual main courses. FOOD 4/5 - The apps/pupus were better than the main entrees. - Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich = juicy and moist chicken but Kochujang sauce falls flat and Asian pear slaw wish they had more crunch. Too much sauce and the bread was soggy quick - Chicken Liver Mousse - SOLID no complaints here! Fête Salad and Basil Caesar - SOLID salads, fresh and crunchy! - Korean Market Steak - FAILED, didnt cook correctly 2x they tried and their sides were better: ginger scallion fried rice, cabbage namu - Pork Ragu - PASS - too salty for me - Kanpachi Fritters - not bad at all - French Onion Grilled Cheese, featuring fontina, smoked mozzarella, cheddar, tomato compote, served with a beef au jus for dipping = SUPER DELISH DESSERT 5/5 AMAZING ONO! - Rocky Road Ice Cream Manoa chocolate, house made marshmallows, dragée macnuts - Frozen Kulolo Sorbet Kualoa poi, coconut milk, black strap rum, vegan friendly - Olive Oil Cake Citrus olive oil cake, yuzu caramel, candied calamansi LOVED the add-on of candied calamansi SERVICE & AMBIENCE 4/5 Beautiful interior, tables, build out at Fete. The tables are very close to each other hence the noise can get quite loud. Service was PARKING 3/5 Can be difficult depending on the time you go. It's a mix between metered paid or free after 6pm.

This is a trendy Chinatown restaurant that i have been wanting to try for a long time! Came on a holiday so frée street parking! There is inside and outside dining! Love the huge vertical succulent plant wall. Inspires me to want one!! Ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara: Pancetta, Portugese sausage, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino Ramano. Too salty! Only 4 stars cause they need to do something about the "flies"! For a James Beard restaurant, please take care of it!

Truly one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Honolulu. There's a reason this place is a James Beard Award winner! We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and every single dish reminded me why Fête never misses. We started with sparkling wine that was crisp, bubbly, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet - literal perfection. Then came the beef tartare, which I kid you not is the best beef tartare I've had on island to date. Nothing has topped it! The texture is smooth (not chunky), the flavors are perfectly blended, and the portion is great for just yourself or to share. It's usually served with French bread, but since I can't have it, they brought cucumbers instead and honestly? Still hit so hard. The Fête salad was fresh, light, and ideal for sharing. They are also extremely allergy-friendly and conscious, which makes the experience even better. Now... the Coconut Kaua'i Prawns. WOW. Truly the star of the show. Lightly crispy, perfectly cooked, generous portion, and the flavor is INSANE. This is a non-negotiable order. You need to try this dish! Other hits at the table: - Lup Cheong fried rice (comforting and flavorful) - Korean fried chicken (my friend said it was incredible) - Crispy potatoes (elevated, perfectly cooked, and honestly delightful) - Chez Burger (confirmed delicious by my friend) To top it all off, they surprised us with Dorie Greenspan's chocolate cake for my friend's birthday, and it disappeared fast! If you love chocolate, this dessert is a must. Fête is thoughtful, celebratory, consistent, and just so well done. Perfect for birthdays, date nights, or when you want to impress out-of-town friends. Forever one of my favs

Grilled carrots - Christmas special
Mia M.

3.5 stars. I've heard lots of people raving about fete so I had high expectations, but I thought everything was a little too pricey for what it was and not that impressive. We came the day after Xmas and they were out of a lot of things, which is totally understandable because markets were closed and the kitchen had the day off, but still limited our options. We were also the first people in the restaurant (had an 11am reservation) and were sat at a slightly strange table right next to the door. We shared the spreads, which were good but not mind blowing, hamachi fritters, and the carrots which were a Christmas special. The carrots were my favorite thing, but still not life changing. I had the smoked Ono club, which was fine but also not incredible and not that different from something I could make at home. One person in our party had the quinoa burger and said it was especially dry and not very flavorful. For desserts, we got three scoops of rocky road to share, as well as the chocolate rum raisin cake. The rocky road ice cream was definitely the hit of the meal. I personally liked the kulolo ice cream that came with the cake better - it had a delicious strong taro flavor, but I'm also not a huge chocolate ice cream fan and the rest of my party preferred the rocky road. Overall, I'm not really sure that I'd return here. I wasn't that impressed by their sandwiches and thought the true entrees seemed quite pricey, and Chinatown has lots of other good restaurants that I like better.

Super yummy and modern restaurant in Chinatown! Had to find street parking. Menu was kind fusion vibes. Risotto was by far the best thing. Was super packed even on a Sunday. Great service!

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

For round two, the Espressing My Love was a great take on an espresso martini, and Michael built my wife a custom drink off her favorite flavors and nailed it again. We paired it with the smoked mozzarella and salami grilled cheese and Ho Farms tomato soup, and this is where it really hit.
