Carbonara
Ty S.

Second time dining at Fête and had another amazing experience. The staff are quick, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food is outstanding and there are a ton of unique cocktail options. We started with a shrimp elote special and the chicken liver mousse. The shrimp elote was unique and flavorful. The mousse was my favorite thing of the night. So rich and creamy and the cherry marmalade paired so well with it. Love that they provided ample bread to go with it. I had to try the la chancla cocktail - the mayo washed mezcal caught my eye. It sounds a little strange but it was very good and was quite strong. For entrees we got the carbonara and zucchini lemon risotto. The carbonara was really rich and the Portuguese sausage added a nice touch. Looking at pictures of it beforehand I was worried the portion size would be small but it's served on a large bowl making the portion look smaller than it is. The risotto had a refreshing tangy sweetness from the lemon. Both have the option of adding on crispy prosciutto for $4. We didn't but saw some that other people ordered and it looked amazing - next time! One of the servers there provided a great recommendation with a wine pairing for the carbonara and let me try a rose before committing. It wasn't something I would normally have chosen but it worked well and I'm grateful for his helpfulness.

Meringue di Cerdo

My mom's friend recommended Fete and it was the best meal we had on our trip! I made a reservation on Open Table and we were seated as soon as we checked in. Our waitress, Alyssa (sp?), was terrific - friendly, energetic, and gave great recommendations. When Alyssa came to take our drink orders, I asked if the mai tai could be made on the sweeter said. She said it couldn't but gave me other recommendations when I asked for drinks that are on the sweeter side. One of those drinks was the meringue di cerdo, which is a drink version of lemon meringue pie (my fave!) and it was perfectly lemony and more on the sweeter side. My mom got an elderflower drink, which she said was just ok. I got the Cioppino and quinoa cakes. The cioppino had a rich seafood flavor that I haven't seen in other versions of the dish I've tried. It came with toast with romanesco sauce. The sauce had a kick without being overly spicy. The quinoa cakes had a similar taste and texture to falafel and were topped with avocado. They were delicious but a little bit on the heavy side. My mom got the beet salad and the cavatappi with sausage, both of which were specials. Though I didn't try the pasta, I did try some of the beet salad. Beets were cooked well. We loved the crispy shallots. We were full so no room for dessert! Only downside was the noise as we were first seated but it seemed to quiet down during our time at Fete. Would recommend/return!

Booked ahead for party of 8. They sat us 20 mins late and it took a while to get initial food/drinks, but after that we had smooth service. I tried: + Royal mai tai + Chicken liver mousse + fete salad with crispy fried chicken + Grilled carrots + basil Caesar with crispy kfc + Mountain View pork ragu + Beet salad special + French onion grilled cheese + Honey butter biscuit + Lilikoi cheesecake + Cafe du monde ice cream Mai tai was excellent. Food highlights were the chicken liver mousse, crispy Korean fried chicken, biscuit and lilikoi cheesecake (best one I had all trip). They also gave us a frozen kulolo on the house that was amazing! I had wanted to try their famous POG cake (there's even an illustration of it on their dessert menu) but they didn't have it that night. Next time!

The GOUGERES with smoked ahi spread were otherworldly delicious! Tender, moist parmesan cheese puffs with an egg custardy core. Perfectly paired with the smoked ahi dip. France meets Italy - meets Hawaii. I'm still dreaming of this. The burger features a thick, juicy, 8-ounce grass-fed patty made from a custom house-selected blend of short rib, chuck roast, and brisket. Get it with the crispy potatoes. You will thank me. Risotto on point. Luxuriously rich, creamy texture. The rice retains a slight al dente bite in the center, giving it structure rather than letting it become mushy. Prosciutto adds a perfect salty, savory crunch to break up the rich risotto. The only misstep was the fries served with the quinoa burger. They were chalky, served at room temperature, limp, and underseasoned. Excellent friendly informal service. Park at the municipal parking on Bethel St just 1/2 block away. Happy Eating!!

I ate here n July. I was downtown on a Monday and the original place I was heading was closed. I decided to wander into fete w/o having ever heard of it. Yum! It was delicious. I had some sort of skirt steak and it was bomb. The bartender was nice and the waitress was awesome. The restaurant is larger inside than it looks very clean. After having eaten here I ended up having it recommended to me by my concierge later in the week. What a fine gem in downtown Honolulu.

My husband and I decided to try Fete for the first time tonight after a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! I started with a Caesar salad which was impeccable. My husband got a carbonara which he really enjoyed and I got a Chaz burger which was...woah! Incredibly soft bun, meat cooked to perfection. The fries (you have to order these separately) were also very good-perfectly crispy! For dessert, we rounded out our meal with an olive oil cake + vanilla ice cream and a Robyn's cake. The lilikoi caramel that comes with the olive oil cake is AMAZING. Our waitress was Summer and SHOUT OUT SUMMER because we loved her. Very attentive and so kind. The location is right on a corner downtown and there is both indoor and outdoor seating options. We had an outdoor table and this was the only downside for me. The tables are all extremely close together end it's hard to get to the inside seat if you're a bigger bodied person. It's also right on the street and it was poppin' on a Friday night so it did get a little loud at times when a bus, motorcycle, or moped would pass.

We came for lunch and enjoyed the vibrant social and food scene. It seemed like everyone was here in this small eatery, not an empty table in sight. The menu reads truly farm to table in ingredients as well as preparation. They expertly folded in flavors and techniques from local cultures to create dynamic and unique flavor palettes, each complimenting and building upon the other. We enjoyed everything! Thank you for a lovely meal. We will definitely be back for dinner.

It was our first time dining here last night (7/11) and what a gem of a restaurant! Chris was our server and let us know the specials of the day. He described everything with such care that it was hard not to order everything! I'd highly recommend a reservation as there was not an empty table the entire two hours we were there. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but our table had great conversations and a overall lovely time. Appetizer: We ordered the konpachi hush puppies (apologies, they had a nicer name but this is how they were described to us) and they were delicious! I'm not a lover of fish, but these were so flavorful and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks: I had the meringue di cedri to drink and it was akin to a lemon drop (10/10) it was sippable and lasted my whole meal. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The cheesecake had a sour tang to it and the chocolate mousse partner with it to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet. We loved it and I know in a few days we'll be craving this meal all over again!

I absolutely love the pasta here. If you're someone who believes there's no such thing as too much sauce, this place will make you very happy. They're incredibly generous with their sauces, and the pasta is always cooked perfectly. For appetizers, don't skip the Fete Spread. The spreads are all delicious and fun to try, and the warm, soft bread that comes with them makes it even better. The Carbonara is my favorite dish. It's rich, cheesy, creamy, and packed with flavor. If you prefer a tomato-based sauce, the Pork Ragù is another excellent choice and just as satisfying. Don't skip dessert. The olive oil cake is a must-order. It's simple in the best way, with a moist, flavorful interior and a perfectly crunchy crust that makes every bite delicious. This is a very popular restaurant, so I highly recommend making a reservation. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot for date night or dinner with friends, and the service is always warm and attentive. Definitely one of my favorite pasta spots in Honolulu!

All dishes were amazing. Cabbage with kampachi was undercooked. Just a great experience. Great cocktails too.

I came here 2 weeks in a row so this is the review for both times. The first time I came by I went with my coworkers for my graduation lunch. They were very busy but thankfully we had a reservation. We started with the Fete Spread as the appetizer, the spreads are delicious, I like the green one the most, its nutty and slightly earthy The red one is tomatoey n sharper and the white one is creamy and sweet. This app also comes with refillable toast, which we definitely made sure to get another serving of. Then I was going to get the Korean steak as my entrée, however my coworker got it and I wanted to try something different and new so I went with the beef pot pie per the waitress' recommendation. However, I really wasn't that good in my opinion. I felt like the bourbon in the pie filling made it taste off and unappealing to me. Then I got dessert because why not. We got a lilikoi cheesecake from the Millie Fete bakery. I did not like the cheesecake very much as well. The chocolate mousse on top was good, thw cheesecake itself was good as well. However, the crust also had alcohol infused in it, which made it taste off and bitter to me. I even asked my coworkers to taste it and they agreed. We also got a scoop of kulolo ice cream. I didn't realize it was going to ALSO be infused in alc, I think it was rum, so again, the ice cream tasted slightly off to me. Kulolo is already perfect why mess with it... Also my OTHER frustration was that it took an OBSCENE amount of time for the cheesecake and ice cream. Logically, the cheesecake would just need to be plated and the ice cream just scooped. However it took 15-20 minutes for us to get the dessert which is ridiculous in my opinion. THE SECOND TIME I came, it was a slightly better experience. We had the spread and toast appetizer like previously and it was good again. WE also got the quinoa cakes and it was super flavorful and crunchy on the outside. I got the Korean steak this time around because I must try it. It was good, the scallion rice was good, flavorful. The steak was okay, it tasted good but I think it was a bad cut/quality of steak (they said it was ribeye?), but there were a lot of the silverskin/gristle (connective issue that can't be bitten through). Made the overall steak experience very unpleasant. I'm not sure HOW much I'd want to revisit as they have some pretty good dishes but some others are a little worse quality. Plus because of how busy they can get, the service might be a bit lackluster and even frustrating.

Library room (private dining)

We booked the private dining room for lunch in the upstairs library for a bridal shower and it was absolutely perfect. It comfortably fit 12 of us (up to 18)! We coordinated months in advance with Katie the general manager and she was wonderful and responsive. She even suggested a cake from Mille Fete and helped us to place the order. We created a custom lunch menu with their available menu items for the party, and every single dish was delicious! The bride was so happy and the service was amazing. Our server Tina was on top of it and so sweet and attentive! There were a couple other servers who helped us as well, I can't recall their names but they were all wonderful. Thank you Katie and team for helping to make our bridal shower one to remember!

I recently visited Fête for a birthday dinner with friends and had a great experience overall. The restaurant has a very intimate atmosphere, though the dining room is quite small and tables can feel a bit crowded. It was also a little chilly inside during our visit. That said, the service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and guided us through the cocktail menu, helping us choose drinks that suited our tastes. We tried the Right as Rain, Spicy Kitty, and Meringue di Cedro cocktails, and all three were delicious. My favorite drink was Right as Rain. It had a tart plum flavor with bright citrus notes and definitely wasn't shy. If you enjoy cocktails that are both fruity and strong, this is an excellent choice and something I would absolutely order again. For appetizers, we ordered the Fête Spreads. The Persian eggplant and mac-nut tapenade were the clear favorites at our table. The ricotta was good, but it didn't stand out as much as the other spreads. For my entrée, I ordered the Sweet Land Farm Salad with a side of chicken. The salad was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The chicken was an additional $7, but I felt the protein was necessary to make the dish more filling. I appreciated that there was an alternate protein option available, especially since the default protein option wasn't something I could eat. My friends ordered the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich and the pasta special with beef, and everyone was very happy with their meals. Portions were okay, and everything we tried was well prepared. I had heard a lot about Fête before visiting, so I was excited to finally try it. The cocktails were excellent, the service was attentive, and it made for a nice birthday dinner with friends. While I enjoyed the food, I was a little surprised by how limited the menu felt, and some of the dishes didn't stand out as much as I expected . Overall, it was a good experience, and I'm glad I finally got to try it.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Moody lighting, a giant orange tree in the middle of the room, Japanese hip hop playing in the background (I want to steal this entire playlist), and extremely cool and friendly servers and bartenders. I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.

What we thought was a pawn shop turned out to be... a speakeasy?!…read more What a lovely surprise. A gem of a find! I will never forget this experience. I was just skipping around town exploring wanting to check-in to as many places as I could like the responsible Yelp elite that I am and then I find this amazing hole on the wall speakeasy. The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.

This bar did not disappoint. It not only had great drinks, but the vibes were high. The drinks are crafted with care, and all of them were hits. I would highly recommend either the Cantaloop or the Sticky Fingaz. Bangers left and right. A perfect bar for a millennial who enjoys a great DJ set alongside even better drinks.

The cocktails that are served are also extra delicious. They all sound super funky, but I challenge you to try them all. It was a mixed bags of flavors that cater to a lot of different taste buds. There would be one I really like, but my friend wouldn't like it. Then she would like the next one, and I wouldn't like it. It wasn't an overall standard, it was how the drink mixed with the persons taste buds. That was something I enjoyed. I could sit at this bar for ages and just have the bartenders make me what ever they want. Also the bartenders listen to options and keys that you like. I let one of them know I like a mezcal smoky, but give me something different then the usual. He gave this amazing mix that I honestly couldn't describe, but I for sure loved it. Can't wait to take more of my friends and try all the cocktails again!
