The other great advantage is that it's within walking distance to anything you need - bus stop, e-bike rental, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. I walked the Boulder Creek Path (entrance right across the street), walked to Pearl Street, and walked to the Dushanbe Tea House and Saturday Farmer's Market. It's definitely a great stay if you're looking for a quiet respite, with that "granola-esque vibe" while visiting Boulder.

We stayed in the largest room with a jacuzzi for Friday and Saturday nights and really enjoyed the larger space. Next time we will likely try a room actually in the main building. Great breakfasts each day with recipes from the owner prepared by the local management team. From our perspective however a disappointment was they are apparently quite popular for wedding receptions that are smallish but otherwise fill the common area room. The disappointment was regular guests couldn't enjoy the real wood fireplace and many treats in the common room during the afternoon. And in the evening the staff went home and the fireplace was no longer lit. There were receptions Friday and Saturday. When you reserve you may want to check on the wedding situation if that is important to you.

While it's only a short drive from the restaurants and shops in downtown Estes, you might as well be a million miles away. The road dead ends at this secluded place, and it's dark and quiet at night. We had a nice evening walk around the property and enjoyed another walk...with elk...the next morning, followed by the included breakfast. The common area has snacks and an espresso machine, which we really appreciated, having arrived late afternoon, and not being inclined to leave for dinner. The whole place is decorated in a decidedly dated style. I know, I know, they're going for Victorian charm, and they've somewhat achieved that; lace tablecloths in the breakfast room, heavy furniture and lots of needlework pillows. Our room had a color scheme that spoke more to the late 1990s than the late 1890s. If you hate that, stay away, especially if you're looking for a place to stage a wedding. Otherwise, a nice place to spend some time away from it all.

Restaurant choices across the street. Cons: this place is TIRED. Everything is run-down and dingey from the raggedy bedspreads to the broken kitchenette drawers, to the shower handle that fell off when we went to turn it on. Outside lawn chairs were moldy and crusty - uninviting. Curtains were dusty with gnats stuck to them. The children's mini-playground area - which could've otherwise been such a nice touch - was littered with dog poo and other debris from apparently months of neglect. If the rental charge were more appropriate for this low-level of accommodation, like $75-$100, I might give more stars. But $200? Uh no.

The first time was 20 years ago and we loved it back then which is why we decided to go back. In the past I'd have given it 4 or even 5 stars. However.... Pros are the great location close to so many amenities such as restaurants and stores, very quaint appearance, dogs allowed, wood burning fireplace, parking right outside your unit's door, easy self check-in, and how quiet it is even though it's off a fairly busy street. This place has tons of potential. Cons are a general lack of maintenance including a broken bar in the sleeper sofa that didn't support any weight and collapsed, unusable very disgusting cooking pans, dirty oven, and a general lack of cleanliness. For example under the chair cushions were years of dust and a variety of objects like socks, loose change, hair ties, etc. Tons of dirt under the sofa and bed, the fireplace glass screen was so dirty you couldn't see the fire so we cleaned it ourselves, all the dishes were filthy, lots of loose hair in the bathroom, etc. You get the idea. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. We love rustic but these cottages cross the line into decrepit compared to other places we've stayed. They are in need of some refurbishment and replacement of furniture and household items.

We have been to Murphy's with kids/teens a few times and it's been pretty good. Close to gear rental (Estes Park Mountain Shop) and close to the main grocery store: Safeway. Also close to McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway and Jimmy John's. Also near the Estes Park Visitors Center. Further from RMNP (about 25-30 minutes) The bad: I decided to book this place for an Anniversary and that was a huge mistake. First, I booked through their website instead of Booking.com since that is better for their business.. I put in the special instructions that we wanted their best King Room for our anniversary. Rates were high despite it being a slow weekend and on booking.com they had lots of open king rooms. We ended up in one of their older rooms which faced the main road. Bathroom sink didn't drain, found hair on the sink. After flushing toilet, it would continue to run. The bed was too soft and hurt our backs. The back of our place faced a busy road. Lots of noise between the walls with the neighbors next door and kids running and screaming outside. Also, their internet was sooo SLOW. If you are coming here to do any work, forget it. We had terrible service most of the time. Wasn't able to use any apps like Netflix, Disney + etc. Pretty old school TV's. For the price we paid, it wasn't worthy of the rate and I wished we had gone somewhere else for a great couple experience. Again, for families, this place is awesome, for couples, I would look elsewhere.

The Twin Owls Steakhouse staff was professional and helpful, and the food is amazing! The owners were AMAZINGLY hospitable and were quick to help with any questions or recommendations in the area. Overall, our experience was significantly positive and we look forward to staying there again in the future!

The wild flowers growing around the property are beautiful. The owners were so friendly, welcoming and personable. The only draw backs re the location right next to the highway because it is noisy, especially for those cabins right next to the road, and parking is a bit tight. But overall, We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back for another long weekend.

There are so many pictures of so many different types of rooms, I had no idea we would end up with what we did. It was an odd place with a lot of nice touches. We had a room facing other rooms on the first floor. The room was tiny. It did have everything we needed, but it was not what I was expecting. I was under the impression all the rooms had a bit of a view. we had no view of anything other than the rooms across the way. We were on the first floor and could hear every single footstep of the people above us. We got in the tub in our room, which was lovely, until the cap of the thing that lets the water out fell off and there was mildew/mold all over it. It was disgusting. The bath salts were a nice touch, but after seeing that mold/mildew stuff that is very easy to clean off, it mad me get out. The bed was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. Neither of us slept well and while there were a million pillows on the bed for two people, they were all lumpy. There were no extra blankets in the closet, which would have been nice in the middle of the night, as there is only a sheet and light blanket on the bed and I like to cuddle up in more blanket than my partner. There is not much to move in the tiny room we were in. and if you are sharing it with a friend (not a romantic partner) you may have to leave the room while they shower as the shower is in the tub which is in the room so there isn't much privacy and the toilet room is also tiny. They definitely use the space on the property well, but it seems like there are way too many rooms for the small amount of parking they have. We may or may not stay there again, but we would definitely ask for another room.
