This is the gem of Boulder!
    Lauren S.

What a gem!! My husband and I were driving through Boulder and with just one day to stay, I am so glad we chose Briar Rose. Making a reservation was painless, plus they gave us a parking permit for our oversized vehicle since this have limited parking, and they had no qualms with our service dog. Breakfast was delicious and prepared with real style, you can tell that they take pride in what they do. It's a true treat to have access to unlimited tea and fresh cookies during the day too! It was perfect. Our small room opened up the the back patio where we enjoyed our leisure time. Also it's walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shopping. There are bikes to rent across the street, and the vibe is one you can't beat. Also!! They have a meditation room available! My husband and I took 20 mins of relaxing in silence before we hit the road, and it was just the bow to wrap up our stay. Definitely check it out! We will stay here again if we ever get the pleasure to again! Highly recommended! Thank you Briar Rose!

We had a very nice one night stay. Tyler was an enjoyable young man and a good cook. Our room exceeded our expectations with lots of natural light, a comfortable bed and plenty of room for two. It was a 15 minute stroll from the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall. We will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I were in Boulder to explore, hike, and relax. We had never stayed at a BnB before, and now I don't think we will stay anywhere else. Our experience at Briar Rose goes beyond 5 stars. The staff was friendly, helpful, and comforting. The room was clean, spacious, and well maintained. Coffee was ready bright and early, homemade granola was amazing, and we loved meeting people from all over. We even came back the next night when our other lodging didn't work out as planned. We will forever remember our Briar Rose experience !

This is the best place to stay in Boulder ..... We have very high expectations when we go on vacation and this amazing bed and breakfast is the most lux and relaxing place we have been..... The whole place is beautiful and the folks who run the establishment are practicing Buddhists so that gives briar rose a very welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in the Huron room and the bed was soft with fluffy pillows.... We had a private balcony over looking the courtyard, which was beautifully landscaped, we had tea service and some meals there and it was wonderful .... Our room had a private jacuzzi which was a great relaxing extra for us. If you love classy and environmentally friendly you have to stay here !!!!

We were so pleased with our stay at Briar Rose. The staff was wonderful and accommodating! The tea and coffee were so good and the breakfasts were filling and wonderful. We especially loved the vanilla yogurt with granola! Our room, Teakettle, was small but comfortable and we had a back door that lead to the rear parking area which was so convenient. Breakfast in the sunroom was so nice. Will be back!

The lamp and clock on the chipped and stained nightstand were completely crooked which was odd. We thought for a moment that we walked into the wrong room. This $300 stay was in a room that can be seen at a $120 La Quinta Inn. I travel for a living and am in roughly 30+ hotels a year. I was thankful though that the bed and pillows were comfortable enough to sleep well in. The towels are rough and cheap or old maybe? The bathroom counter needed repair. Just overall not good. Upon first arrival to the inn we walked in to be greeted by one in tact and one half eaten small muffin on the food bar which I guess was the snack offering as it was on a little service dish not an individuals plate. Super uninviting. The parking was great though and appreciated. We did enjoy the Great Room a little while during our stay which was cozy. When we got back from our dinner on Friday evening just before 9pm we wanted a cup of hot tea for bed and there was no longer any hot water on the beverage bar. What a disappointment. I will also say the tea choices were worse than that at a Hampton Inn. Very basic and not even close to even what a mid level hotel offers. The breakfast was nice. Quiche looked amazing but by the time we came down to eat at 9:45 which I understand is 15 minutes before it ended - the warmer was off and the quiche was cold. We did grab a muffin which tasted like it was from Safeway or Costco but it helped as we were hungry. Instead we had to eat a light bite across the street at the cafe. Another disappointment. Overall what could and should have been a really special experience felt like a run down room with a mediocre breakfast experience. I came with my adult daughter to celebrate her 26th birthday and I have to be honest and say that I felt terrible that I chose this inn. We made the best of it and really enjoyed our time together just the same because after all that is what mattered most.

C'mon, folks. The pros: The staff are nice (and who really cares if a staff member is a little high, this is Colorado, per the other review--Bradley is a super nice guy and I never saw him stoned during my nearly one week stay) The breakfast is lovely--fresh fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, baked goods, and quiche--along with coffee, tea, etc. If it's your thing, you can have drinks around 5pm with some snacks Prime location in downtown Boulder with parking Lovely great room and office area The cons: Yes, the rooms are somewhat dated--I stayed in two different rooms, and one had some really worn carpet--but they're clean You can experience a decent amouont of road noise on the first floor, and I didn't have luck getting help with my suitcase up to the second floor (and I had a sprained shoulder, but it was manageable) They have wifi and now cable (along with DVD players, though I had to have them replace the DVD player) but no smart TVs if you are obsessed with that Overall, I'd stay here again...and I'm PICKY.

This isn't a super nice or updated space, but we had everything we needed for our mixed bag of early 30s friends. My friends and I stayed in the Stone St. cottage, which is heavily Grateful Dead/psychedelic/ classic rock themed. The room is listed as sleeping 3, which we did on night one, but easily slept 4 on night 2. The grounds were so charming and eclectic. The cottage we were in was a little wonky and slanted on the floor, but the rooms were clean, the shower worked great and we had more than what we needed. We checked in super late in the darkness so we didn't get to experience a normal front desk check in, which I'm sure would brief us on procedures like pre-ordering breakfast the night before, but the staff was so accommodating when we showed up hungry and ordered bacon, eggs and potatoes in the AM. Mary was the cook and she was rad, quick witted and whipped up a lovely home cooked breakfast. There are 2 dogs (that we met) on site names Shokti (gorg white husky queen) and Mr. Dog (precious, hilarious chihuahua businessman) and we loved to pet and visit with them while in the main lodge. That space is incredible: kitschy, eclectic, trippy and warm, just like our whole stay! I could go on forever about how adult-summer-camp-esque the grounds were! Every cottage is themed, though we only entered ours. The covered hot tub was a crucial touch for our group in the crisp 50 degree weather to take a morning dip and unwind after the show. I'm unsure if all cottages come with hot tubs so definitely confirm if that's something you're interested in. The walkability to all the necessities and some breweries/ eateries was appealing when we had time to kill. Cliff House offers a shuttle to and from Red Rocks for a fixed price per rider. The shuttle to the venue leaves 15 minutes prior to doors which was a little late for us, so we opted to take the shuttle back and it was a highlight of the trip. Brook's organized the shuttle, sent us incredibly detailed instructions on where/ how to find her in a short, yellow school bus. I especially appreciate the details because we had been drinking etc and needed the depth of care taken to make sure we found her! The bus was stocked with beverages and we played music and just bopped down the hill, laughing our butts off. This was such a fun stay for us and it was thanks to the grounds, location, home cooked breakfast and tea in the lodge, Mary, Brooks, Shokti and Mr. Dog. I will recommend to anyone I know traveling that way!

My husband and I stayed here for the last few days of our vacation in Colorado. It was wonderfully quiet and set in a beautiful location. We rented out the bottom floor/basement, which came with WiFi and had a cozy bedroom with fireplace, sauna, steam shower, and large living room. We also enjoyed reading in the hammocks outside. The living room came equipped with a large screen and projector along with a huge variety of DVDs. The space was equipped with a mini-refrigerator, toaster oven, and sink. We spent most of our time indoors with a few trips to nearby towns to explore a bit and eat. A microwave or hot plate was really the only thing we missed. The water didn't get quite hot enough for the coffee we made using the French Press and there were a few other things we wanted to heat up that didn't work out well in a toaster oven. We didn't partake in the breakfast, so I can't comment on that. The sauna and steam shower were my favorite amenities. The sauna warmed me up and helped relieve some of the tension and soreness I was carrying around. The steam shower helped me breathe better. The dry air caused havoc with my sinuses, and it was nice to get into the steam shower to help alleviate the dryness. The owner was extremely friendly and invited us to enjoy the hot tub and greenhouse. After a very busy few months of travel, conferences, and craziness at work, I just wanted to relax and be left alone. This was the perfect location for that! We spent most of our time indoors with a few trips to nearby towns to explore a bit and eat. I wasn't able to hike because the altitude affected me too much, but really just having a place to be away from people and the bustle of city life was what I needed most.

The xc skiing at Devil's Thumb has always been a favorite for us, as far back as the 70's when it was just a rustic ski trail system with a small nordic supply shop. In recent years it became a full fledged resort with lodging where we have often stayed. We have also stayed in Winter Park, about 15 minutes away and driven over to ski. But we have now found our new favorite option. This is such a lovely place, both the facility and the charming staff. It is a better price value for us than some of the other options in the area, yet more than a simple motel in town. You know, like Goldilocks, "just right." I especially want to note that the (included) breakfast that host John cooks for the guests was wonderful, some sweet, some savory, warm, homemade, natural and ample for the start of even an hearty ski day. They take note in advance of special food needs and serve with a choice of time options. The log style of the building is rustic but nicely furnished. The rooms are well designed and furnished with high quality linens and have lots of storage as some guests stay for weeks. The views from each room are very pretty, some to the Continental Divide, some to the woodland. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The central lounge area was large, comfortable, attractive and clean and with a central fireplace. There are also some other smaller gathering areas to sit and talk or read if you wish to be outside your room. And there are also some family and dog friendly cabins on site if you want more than a bedroom. Personally, the rooms in the main inn are just right for my needs. We will absolutely be back. It is convenient to local xc skiing and also just a 15 minute drive past the Winter Park Resort and not far at all from several quality dinner options. We met other guests using the lodging for all of these reasons.

If I were smarter, I could have had so many snacks in there. Instead, I insisted we try to walk and find something down the street, because this is Colorado and at the very least there is some bar food nearby within walking distance. Not at 11 pm. Nothing open, no one on the streets maybe some mountain lions, at least the bears were hibernating. We ate lunch at the restaurant down the street recommended by the front desk. Murphys closes at 9 pm. Delicious, I owe them a five star review. Ordered conservatively for some reason, but should have had leftovers on the mind. There is a happy hour at 530 pm with beer and maybe even some food, but we were enjoying the amenities of our room too much. So, this is a public service announcement, I suggest you bring food if your dietary needs involve late night snacking. Otherwise when you realize everything is closed, you'll wish you said you wanted breakfast at 8 am instead of 10 am and then your boyfriend will be unable to wait, has to go down the street and then you have four breakfasts by then. I'm not a high maintenance princess type so I do not expect a robe. I definitely don't expect it to be that soft. Since it had to be that soft, I got the idea there were supposed to be matching slippers hiding somewhere. I never found them. We plan to return in the near future, and bring some snacks and slippers. I'll tell you how that goes.

The bedroom is a place to sleep, no TV or radio in the room, the TV is located in the common area. No closet in the bedroom. This house was built in 1895, and back then people didn't have closets like we have today. in fact they probably didn't have the amount of clothes that we have nowadays. We had 2 cell phones and 2 pads. The wifi hookup was quick and fast service. Didn't feel deprived, I was able to listen to some audio books and webinars were smooth and not choppy. If you want to attend church in the morning, the Catholic Church is literally across the street. just a 30 sec to 1 minute walk to attend. The other churches are within 5 minutes adjacent to the Catholic Church. All 3 churches are on Colorado Blvd. In the morning Vickie prepared a simple and filling breakfast. Egg omlet, hash browns, choice of juice, buttered toast with jam, coffee or tea. She enjoys conversation with her guests and we were just as pleased to engage in conversation with her. Vickie has owned this B&B since 2002 and also has family ties in Idaho Springs area. She is very knowledgable about the area. If you want a quick and nearby get-a-way from Denver, This is a great place to drive to. From where we live on the eastern plain it's just an hour drive. If you're on the west side of Denver, it's about 30mins. Idaho Springs is considered a bedroom community of Denver, and with enough activities to consider it a destination spot vs a drive through spot. Highly reccommend The Miners Pick B&B.
