    Stayed in Cabin 4

If a trip to the mountains is what you are looking for, Rustic River Cabins will not disappoint. From breathtaking scenery to the idyllic accommodations, this place will reinvigorate you body and soul. The owners, James and Jeanine Pruitt were consummate hosts and their attention to detail, from the cabin (how to work the heaters in the room for us flatlanders) and the hot tubs being hot, clean, and ready to go. Tubs for both the individual cabins, and a communal tub overlooking the river. On the river, it is across from the cabin brimming with trout you can watch swim against the current. The serenity I experienced sitting there listening to the sound of water rushing by watching the trout swim, beckons us back again next year. Not a cliche of a John Denver song, but the inspiration. Estes park the town had everything we could had hoped for, from fine dining ( try the bacon wrapped figs at The Rock Inn) to shops running the gamut from cheap souvenirs to high end antiques. Ice Cream shops and home made candy stores are numerous. Elk are everywhere in town and are as much a fixture of town as any of the locals. The Stanley Hotel beautiful, snow capped mountains, and a Safeway make everything perfect. If you go, you must go up to RMNP to Bear Lake, words cannot explain the beauty we witnessed, it really made us feel small. We were there for four days, and left feeling like family pining for next year so we can go back. Stayed April 2017, traveled as a couple

We just loved staying here during our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and the Estes Park area. Cozy and comfortable cabin with private hot tub on the deck. Like a home away from home: kitchen, wood burning stove. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We will stay here again next visit.

Just spent this past weekend at RRC. Honestly, I didn't want to leave. My boyfriend and I stayed in #8 to celebrate his birthday and my graduation, and had an absolute blast! Hot tub...cozy fire...really comfortable bed...(dog friendly). To boot, the owners are very accommodating and lovely to talk to. I've never stayed at the Standley, and after booking this place, I can't see how it could beat it. Can't wait to go back!!

    Relaxing in the hot tub

So it's been over a month since our return from Rustic River Cabins, and I have to say that I'm still just as eager to return! I still cannot get over how perfect everything was. We wanted relaxation and found that in cabin 4. The private hot tub, with the Ridge in the background was perfect. Quiet and quaint, I cannot wait to get back to the cabins. There's nothing I would change about the place. James and Jeanine knew we were there for my girlfriend's birthday and took the time to write her a card, and had it waiting, along with some chocolates for her. How awesome is that!?! They are great owners, dedicated to making sure your stay is enjoyable, so thanks for that guys!

Too expensive and too noisy. Right on the highway, traffic and headlights all night. For $280 a night you can do way better

They have adjoining rooms and those are newer and in a more quiet area of the property. Their continental breakfast is pretty good. They have free movie popcorn and DVD rentals. They also have a pool and hot tub but we have never used them. They also have a small playground. Again, it's great for families. We have been to Murphy's with kids/teens a few times and it's been pretty good. Close to gear rental (Estes Park Mountain Shop) and close to the main grocery store: Safeway. Also close to McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway and Jimmy John's. Also near the Estes Park Visitors Center. Further from RMNP (about 25-30 minutes) The bad: I decided to book this place for an Anniversary and that was a huge mistake. First, I booked through their website instead of Booking.com since that is better for their business.. I put in the special instructions that we wanted their best King Room for our anniversary. Rates were high despite it being a slow weekend and on booking.com they had lots of open king rooms. We ended up in one of their older rooms which faced the main road. Bathroom sink didn't drain, found hair on the sink. After flushing toilet, it would continue to run. The bed was too soft and hurt our backs. The back of our place faced a busy road. Lots of noise between the walls with the neighbors next door and kids running and screaming outside. Also, their internet was sooo SLOW. If you are coming here to do any work, forget it. We had terrible service most of the time. Wasn't able to use any apps like Netflix, Disney + etc. Pretty old school TV's. For the price we paid, it wasn't worthy of the rate and I wished we had gone somewhere else for a great couple experience. Again, for families, this place is awesome, for couples, I would look elsewhere.

Annie's Mountain Retreat caters to couples only, so it sounded perfect for my boyfriend and I. We had been so stressed lately and needed a quiet getaway. We stayed at the romantic cottage, which is the smallest one but obviously the most romantic. I can't even begin to explain how welcoming Annie is! There was a big snowstorm on our first day (thank God my boyfriend has a truck haha) and Annie called to make sure we were doing ok, as well as to let us know that the snow would be shoveled for us at our arrival. The place has a charming cabin feel without being overbearing. Even better, the romantic cottage exterior looks like a european cottage and has a cute banner saying "and they lived happily ever after." So romantic! The kitchen has all the appliances and utensils you can ever need, plus pantry items like flour and sugar. Check out their website for more details. Probably the best part of the place is the deck! Have you ever sat in a private hot tub at night next to the river with a glass of champagne? I have! :D Best. Trip. Ever!

Separate living room for workaholics who need a little privacy away from the party; gigantic, fully-equipped restrooms; and lovely balconies with decked out seating areas to have coffee and reflect on life make this property a slam dunk for any party. More than reasonably priced, especially in the Rocky Mountain National Park area; where there are lots of either overly pricy or questionably renovated properties (if not both). Further, if you book during a peak time in which AmEx and Rakuten promotions align, while having Gold or above status with Expedia, the value goes through the roof. I would have nothing negative to say about the property either way, but that the price is as attractive as it is, only serves to really reinforce stayability for every party, for every occasion. Breakfast is small but complimentary and was not expected. They have hard-boiled eggs for the health nutty traveler; which, if you plan to eat out anyways to maximize trying local offerings, as I tend to do, is still beneficial in that restaurants rarely give enough protein or protein per carb/fat. Not a mutually exclusive breakfast, it is a great supplement for the fitness enthusiast who all-too-often is belabored by inadequate nutrition while traveling. There are certain aspects of the rooms which may be a bit dated, but if observed closely, you will notice that it's a work in progress; I have no doubt the owner and staff are doing a great job, and they likely acquired the property in worse condition. That is not to say that there are certain elements of the property which are in good to excellent / above grade condition. Given all the above, I say this simply as mention rather than as detriment; to inform the audience rather than critique or offset the value consideration of a stay. Still superb. Lastly, on the occasion I visited, I was blessed to see a herd of elk outside of my balcony the morning I woke up. My pictures do not adequately capture the size and splendor of the herd. It was lovely and something I will never forget. Their vocalizations are interesting - you will see what I mean, should you encounter them. Conclusion: Recommended with high confidence.

I wish the fire had been to another side, but it was still great, and definitely worth it! The price was very reasonable. Parking was a breeze, and the location is very convenient. On the downside, the sheets could stand to be replaced, or at least bleached a lot! The pillows were too soft for me, but that's not a big deal. We loved that the bathroom had a fan and a window! Natural light!! We'd definiely stay here again.
