The doctor told me they saw nothing and there was a chance within the next 5 weeks my retina could detach. I ended up going to wills eye mid Atlantic retina for a second opinion.. I got diagnosed with Central serous retinopathy (CSR) where fluid builds up behind the retina in the eye causing vision distortion. When I went in for my follow up at Springfield opticians the doctor got angry. She was upset I had gotten a second opinion and basically told me I only have floaters and that I should just leave since I have another appt with wills eye.. (even though she had the report from wills eye in her hand. She didn't even care to read it..) Needless to say, if you're having serious eye issues I would be cautious.

Legally, they are required to provide a copy of the prescription at the time of examination which they did not do. I feel that I should have been refunded the full amount ($560) but wanted to settle the matter and move on.

I go in for my appointment and they proceed to tell me "Oh well that was a reminder at that time to set an appointment you don't actually have an appointment today" and the other person working chimed in and said "Because there was no phone number we couldn't confirm it". I've NEVER heard of setting a reminder at a specific time to set an appointment! Shouldn't also need a PHONE NUMBER TO CONFIRM IT WHEN YOU SEND ME MULTIPLE EMAILS AND ASKED ME TO CONFIRM IT! When i had get fitted for contacts, Dr Ruffini's office charged me a "mandatory" $49 dollar fee "per PA state law" (which was made up and wasn't reported to my insurance company). Dr Ruffini's office also made my glasses too strong, I was getting headaches, so I had to get new lenses made. His office charged me a $49 "refitting fee" (which also wasn't reported to my insurance company). I'm done, I've moved onto a nationwide chain with no problems.

When I required it, I returned. I was apprehensive as I had corrective surgery 30+ years prior. However, through the preliminary exams and consultations, my respect and confidence for Dr. Billbrough increased. My surgery was a total success. As for the staff on the exam side of the center, they were friendly while being professional and thorough, from the techs to the office. I can speak for the price of glasses tough here. Having exhausted online stores trying to find a quality pair that wouldn't break the bank I found myself looking for a place to actually try them on at. Nearby I have various dr's offices, bjs, Pearle Vision, and lens crafters. After a bit of research I determined bjs was likely to have the best price. I found a pair I liked quickly and, after applying their 60% off sale, got them and lenses (no extras) for 99$. They are considered out of network but my total out of pocket will end up being about 30$. There is no way I'd get that at any of the locations mentioned above. They run this 60% off sale 3 times a year I was told and the only one that rivals it is Black Friday. Highly recommend going here during a sale.

I continued to call and would receive the same update that they were "in processing." When I finally received them back, the frame was broken on the one side. They told me I had signed a form saying I was responsible if they broke them while doing new lenses. Receiving broken frames 4 weeks late was not worth the $50 discount.

I was told to get a specific vision test, only to later be informed it was out of pocket. That should have been disclosed upfront; the lack of transparency felt very shady. They never have contact lens trials in stock, and when trial lenses are needed because the doctors can't determine the correct prescription, it takes weeks of follow-up just for them to arrive. Even then, the prescription is often still incorrect. Overall, the experience with the doctor's office has been incredibly frustrating and unprofessional.
