I've needed the services of an auto body repair shop twice in the past couple of months. First was for a scratch on my wheel well. They did a good job on the repair. My only complaint was they estimated a three day turnaround, but ultimately needed four days. I had to contact them on the third day to ask when my car would be ready. They acted as if it was my problem I had been told the car would be ready that day and it wasn't. When I asked about getting a discount to compensate for the extra day I had to keep my rental car, they wouldn't budge. At that point, I would have given them three stars.
Second time: I was rear-ended by another driver whose insurance would be paying for the repairs and any rental car needs I had, do wasn't worried about a repeat of the above. All seemed to go well with the repair. But two issues surfaced afterwards that I believe indicate a lack of thoroughness by their technicians AND poor customer service overall.
1. They left a light on in the car that I have never turned on before. It caused the battery to go dead and not hold a charge when AAA came to charge it at my house. Fortunately, I was able to avoid going back to them (I knew it was hopeless getting them to pay for a new battery). My car dealership was awesome and recharged it at their service department at no cost.
2. An odor became apparent after a week or so and kept getting worse. I was concerned it was caused by them having left something inside the repaired bumper that was now sealed, so asked them to take off the bumper to check for what was causing the odor. If it was obvious they had made a mistake or allowed an animal to get into a now sealed space, they should not charge me. But I was willing to pay for their labor if it was not obviously due to something they had caused. They refused to do anything unless I paid $150, regardless of what was discovered. I decided to go to my dealership and pay them to research it. They were only going to charge me $139, and I trusted them to do a better job. Their service department staff discovered quickly that a significant amount of water had gotten into the trunk area and settled in the spare tire hold. It had caused mold to develop. The dealership did not charge me. I cleaned the water and mold out of the spare tire and hold area myself. But even the dealership said the only time that much water could have gotten into the trunk area was during the time Fender Bender had the car AND that they should have ensured the inside of the trunk was dry before returning the car to me.
In summary, they do decent work on the damaged parts, but their technicians are not thorough and their office staff (including the owner) are not willing to admit to any fault or take care of any issues that occur while the car is in their possession. Therefore, I will not use them again and do not recommend them to others. read more
