I brought in a shadow matte gray Kia, I brought it in to get repaired after an accident and I picked it up with a shiny new bumper (The bumper should be matte too). Even after I told them that it looks weird and that it shouldn't look glossy 4 business days plus a weekend ago. It kinda seems like they didn't try to fix the issue. Instead they just made the front fender shin I also came back with a new scratch on the right side, I asked them about it, They claimed it was hard to tell( basically denying it was there). I needed the car back so I could care less. Very upsetting tho :( Overall everything seems good so far just cosmetic issues, if something breaks I'll give this an update. Insurance covered the cost of the repairs and I only had to cover the deductible. Unfortunately they would not get my business again for this particular vehicle due to it being a special paint. You can get set up with a rental car easily and drop off the rental with Federal Auto Body when you pick up your car and they'll take care of everything for you. The staff here is great and the transactions are smooth sailing. John (the owner) is absolutely amazing. He's very knowledgeable, extremely friendly and helpful. He appraises the damage on your car and patiently explains everything to you, which helps you make an informed decision. If there are any issues that comes up, you can count on him to resolve it. As for the work itself, I had them fix the bumper and related electrical and paint work. Everything looked flawless back then and still does now, which is many months later. I have a brand new Mazda MX-5 (RF), only 4 weeks old, and another driver hit my passenger side front fender--cosmetic damage. The paint is called machine grey. I was concerned that the paint blend wouldn't match -- this was because some years ago I had gone to a different autobody shop to have the bumper repaired and you could see the different color in the sunlight. Had a Geico claim here recently for a side swipe incident. I was apprehensive because I have heard horror stories of GEICO partnered shops cutting corners and completing shoddy repairs. After checking out the reviews online and exploring the facility in person, I decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad that I did. Took about two and a half weeks (vs 2 weeks that they quoted me), but I had a loaner that was easily set up through shop. Their staff here are super friendly and the service I received rivaled or surpassed that of various Lexus dealers that I am accustomed to. Most importantly, the job was done perfectly. My 3 stage paint was matched properly, and body dents were pulled out to factory specs. I was hard pressed to find evidence of overspray or paint inconsistency, even under a flashlight. The wheels were refinished fantastically and the vehicle realigned. Pretty sure they washed the car and detailed the interior I am a stickler for detail, and I regularly wash and clean my vehicles with clay bars, random orbital polishers, and various paint sealants. I left an extra part in the trunk when I brought my car for repair but when I picked up the car the part was missing. When I contacted them they said " I will call you later ima ask my ****" Since they didn't call me back for a few days, I called them again. They said we threw it away along with other garbage. I was speechless. That part was $751 on eBay and $1100 from the dealer. I hung up and visited them to find out what happened. When I asked them why did you throw it away, instead of answering my question, one of the man on the desk asked me back where did you get that part? I should've tell him that it is non of your business but I didn't say that I didn't want to be rude. Instead I said you didn't even apologize me that you lost my part and asking me where I got my part from? And he said "I am apologizing you now, where did you get that part from and why did you have it in the trunk?" Rude, rude. He asked me "what do you want?" I said return my part back. And he said we get those part often. We will call you when we have one. I was hoping that they keep their promise, so I can still believe that was their honest mistake. I gave them benefit of doubt. It has been more than a year now. Who knows what happened to my $1100 part. May be ended up on someone's car, or May be in the trash as they said. The point is that people make mistakes, so I understand that if it was mistake the Federal Auto Body deserves to have a chance to make up their mistake. I gave them chances for so long but eventually they don't care. I usually don't leave one star. And they don't accept Credit Card. What is the reason? I was referred to Federal Auto Body by GEICO after I had a car accident about a week ago. The extent of my damage was extremely minor, just some light scuffs on the right front bumper of my car. My car is only 3 years old and I figured it was better for me to fix it than let it sit and do nothing about it. Because I have collision coverage in my GEICO policy, they referred me to Federal Auto Body as a "preferred auto body shop." So on GEICO's word, I went to the shop on a Thursday morning at 8 AM. I was promised a GEICO adjuster would be there on sight to inspect the car. I show up on Thursday, the guy behind the counter (totally inanimate) goes outside to look at the car and assesses the damage. Makes no mention of the GEICO adjuster being there on sight. Doesn't even mention how much the repair will cost. I call GEICO later that day, to find out that there was no adjuster available there were a shortage of adjusters in NY State; they were down in TX and FL assessing vehicle damage as a result of Hurricane Harvey and Irma respectively. Okay, I understand that. Then, I find out the price...$1670 for two scratches and a supposed "caved in daylight running light." For the record, the daylight running light was just fine. They gave me this whole excuse about how that light part alone cost $750...whatever. Meanwhile, I have to pay a $1000 deductible and GEICO walks away only paying $670. I don't hear from them until Tuesday, September 19th, to tell me that on Wednesday, September 20th, the car was ready for pick-up and that they don't accept credit cards. SAY WHAT?!?! So you mean to tell me that an auto body shop that works with GEICO doesn't accept credit cards. And when asked about this the day of the pick-up, Mr. Warm and Fuzzy from day 1 said, "it's our shop's rules." But don't worry, I filed a formal complaint with GEICO and according to them, all autobody shops under their preferred list are REQUIRED to accept credit cards. Did the fix the bumper? Sure, but I would have rather paid $500 out of my own backpocket for that, because genuinely, the damage I had didn't even amount to the cost quoted. First and last time I'll be going to Federal Auto Body. If you want to go them, it's your choice. But to GEICO insureds, beware. read more

So i got my car back from the body shop today 9/21. It did take a while to get it back as i had been on using a car rental for 16 days. I have to say the body work done to my car came back looking like brand new. Upon receiving my car, i took it for a test drive. I realized right away that my car was pulling to the right. The steering wheel was not dead center either. After my test drive at highway speeds, i brought back the car and i explained to john my driving experience. He seemed very concern and he assured me that the car's would be re-aligned and that tire rods would have to be order and replaced. I was asked to bring my car Friday so that the job could be performed by his technician. I came back friday to drop the car at 1pm, i had my car back by 530pm same day. Unfortunately at the time i got my car back i was not able to take it for a test drive at highway speed. So today Saturday, I took the car for a test drive and everything seems to be in order. The problem was corrected and the car is no longer pulling to the right. I only wish the entire process would have been done faster as most of the damage was mainly superficial to the body work of my car. read more

Other places said I needed to change the entire mirror with camera and it would cost a lot of money, but Kyle said they could change just the mirror for me in 10 minutes and it continues to works perfectly. I've known about Federal Auto Body since I was in high school. Their storefront always looked first class, compared to other collision shops. So when I found out my insurer recommend Federal, it was a no-brainer decision. My first impression walking into their office is how they've comfortable they've made it for waiting customers. Free coffee and doughnuts and plenty of seats. I didn't have to wait long for someone to greet me and offered their assistance. Normally with Geico, you have to make an appointment with the collision shop. For some reason, Federal seem to be the only nearby shop that had a 2 day wait for an appointment. If they were a restaurant (for you Yelpers), you can bet that the food must be good if you have to wait for it. Unfortunately for me, I had a flight leaving the next day, so I took a chance and brought the car in anyway for an unscheduled visit hoping to drop off the car. Not only did they take me in, but the guys cut through my insurer's red tape. Two weeks later, my car was ready. The paint looked like it came from the factory, but there were a few items that needed correction. The guys were more than happy to fix some minor issues as I discovered them over the following week. Overall, I'd say the repair job has restored the car back to nearly its original showroom condition. Update (2 months later): I heard a squeek while driving, and I thought it was from the repairs. I dropped off the car at Federal, and they took a look. I came back a few hours later, and they found a loose item in the trunk (not from their repairs in the engine compartment). It was obviously not their fault, but they were gracious about it and did not charge for the diagnosis. Thumbs-up! read more

I dropped my car off for repairs at my insurance companies recommendation. Unbeknownst to me, my car was ticketed on the street two days after dropping the car off. Why was my car on the street in Jamaica queens when it should have been in their possession securely at their flushing location. The least they could've done was A. Inform me of the occurrence B. pay the ticket. Instead I received a notice of non payment from the department of finance responsible for parking violations. This behavior is unprofessional and leaves a lot to be spoken about. Who knows what other shady business they engage in. read more

I noticed what looked like a key mark all along the hood of my car as well as the windshield. I wasn't entirely sure it was a key mark and didn't know if I wanted to go through insurance to get it fixed until I brought my car in for inspection and was told that I almost didn't pass because of the damage to the windshield. They said it definitely was a key job--so I called Geico. I brought the car to this place and a worker there immediately told me it wasn't a key mark and buffed it out.
