Said my car failed inspection because of tinted windows. My friends... if sunlight passes through the passenger's side 70% they are technically LEGAL. There is even a sticker on the tints that indicates that. And this is a SUV, the rear windows / back side windows can be any tint. They don't seem to value their customers.. because I wanted to explain to him, but he goes to the back next to the mechanic and stays there. While I'm waiting for him at the front... I came around 11pm on a Saturday and the car was ready to be picked up around 12pm. Although I am not too experienced with cars, I felt comfortable asking questions. Went in with an issue with my Lexus LX470 which had an issue in the brake system. They quickly took a look and advised as to safety issues and costs. Left knowing the LX was ok to drive...it only needed topping off of fluid...and felt that they were honest and earnest in their business dealings. They could have tried to up sell me but instead tried to be costs sensitive in the approach as to how to best to monitor the truck. Came here last minute to recharge my car's AC Freon and they immediately were able to help me on a Saturday afternoon. Cost was $135 before taxes and although it's on the pricer side (in Brooklyn where I go - it's only $80 with no tax) I couldn't drive to Brooklyn in the heat. The mechanic was super helpful and fast and I was out about a half hour later. AC cold as ever! Will definitely come here again in an emergency, otherwise I'll go to my Brooklyn mechanic as I've been going there for years. read more

I have been going to this shop for years. Their work is outstanding and they charge reasonable prices. But most importantly, they are honest, which is incredibly hard to find in an auto shop in NYC. I know a thing or two about cars and can spot when a shop is making up unnecessary repairs and you won't get none of that here. They are friendly and will only suggest repairs when necessary and will never push for you to do it at their shop. I highly recommend coming here for inspection or service but they are often busy and it's best to come in the mornings. My usual place to get all my car servicing is Manners on Northern Blvd, however since I've moved to Flushing now Manners is not as convenient to get to. So I asked some friends on any nearby spots I can trust to get the job I want done without having to get 10 other things I don't really have to get fixed. They recommended this spot on Northern Blvd and LInden Pl across from the townhall. I came on a Saturday afternoon and the lines are incredibly long, so I knew this was a popular spot. I needed an oil change so they asked me if I could wait a while so I dropped the car off and just stayed around Flushing. I can chill around flushing without paying for a meter! Win win. Get your dim sum on and your grocery shopping done and I came back 2 hours later and the car was waiting for me in their lot. What I really appreciate other than the incredibly great customer service, was their thorough investigation of my car. They noticed a nail on my rear tire and helped me patch that back up, and they also noticed my antifreeze was running low so they topped that off. I am ecstatic about finding this local service station which I can rely on to keep my car maintained. So if you need anything done to your car and you're around flushing, give them a call for availability before pulling into their lot, and leave your car there. If it ends up being a longer task, I say go ahead and treat yourself to some flushing food, or dim sum because they are all very close by. My family and friends for more than 10 years have been coming here, with countless referrals and a lot of coincidences that we found out we were using the same repair shop. The service is friendly and considerably speedy, you don't just feel like just another person with a car going in and out, they hear you out and offer best solutions to fixing or just maintaining your car. The managers Bill (since retired) and Philip are great, not your typical salesmen type but like talking to you uncle or like cousin. Updating my review. I just left this station feeling like an idiot. Imagine just standing in front of someone waiting for them to acknowledge your existence... no eye contact, no "I'll be with you in a second", no nothing. When my dad asked the mechanic for help, the mechanic said to wait on the owner who was having a full blown convo with 2 other guys who clearly looked like the didn't need their car to be serviced. I wasn't going to keep standing there (a few feet from him) trying awkwardly to make eye contact.. Really annoyed because I specifically brought our Acura here to be repaired and my X5 for oil changes since I liked the old guy who used to run this place so much. I needed a car inspection since it was expiring September 2015 and looked on yelp for suggestions. Stumbled upon this location with EXCELLENT reviews and since I am a person that relies heavily on other people's reviews, I decided to give this place a shot since it was conveniently located to me. They are closed on Sundays (not the pumps) because I tried calling a previous Sunday and got the gas attendant cashier person. I am only available weekends so I tried calling around 9:30AM on a Saturday hoping it wouldn't be too packed. I asked if I had to make an appointment to have a car inspection and the worker told me no but the wait would depend on what time I showed up. I asked if I came in at 10AM, would there be a long wait and he told me that it would probably be an hour and half wait due to 2 cars that would be in front of mine. No problem. So I headed on over. The two workers that I spoke with were pleasant and asked for my car registration since it was my first time being there. They actually spoke pretty good English. I was expecting Chinglish like how my parents speak haha. After entering my info into the system, he gave me an orange ticket and asked me for my number so he can call me once the car was done. I gave him my car keys and he told me it should be done in an hour. Lo and behold, I got a call a little over an hour (like an hour and 15 minutes at the most) saying my car was ready and waiting! Came back, paid the $37 at the cashier and went to my car. Btw, air pump was broken that day because when I got in my car, the low tire pressure light was on and I couldn't pump air there. No biggie though! I would definitely come back again for any car needs just based off of my own experience (even though it was only once) and these other outstanding reviews! Very professional and they keep their word. The worker that processed my info even came out to me as I was getting into my car and told me "You have a nice little Subaru" haha :) Highly recommended! I had to go for an oil change, nothing big but from beginning to end everything was spectacular. I called ahead to see how long the wait would be and they said about 45 min to 1 hour, which saved me the trip of going to my dealer and getting an oil change done there. Once I got there, they asked me what type of oil change I wanted to do. I dont know much about cars/oil they require and he then asked what car and year I have and told me which is recommended. I did the synthetic which was about $60 but he also told me of a rebate from Mobil for $10 off where I sent a screenshot of my receipt and they'll give me $10 back. I have known these guys for a few years now and appreciate the honesty, trust and service they provide me with. I know absolutely nothing about cars but the workers here are patient, professional and answer my questions in layman terms. I live in Bayside but the trip to this gas station is worth it. Because my car has more than a few miles on it, I always get nervous about my brakes. These guys could easily charge me for servicing the brakes at every oil change or NY inspection but they keep me updated on the status of my brakes and tell me not to worry. One time I had my muffler fall off while I was on the Southern State. I managed to bring it here (sparks and all), and in no time they secured it back. They didn't even charge me for it!! I thought I needed a new muffler too, considering what it went through, but apparently I did not need a new one. I ended up leaving a tip and they already know that I am pretty patient when they are really busy. I refer my family, friends and coworkers to this service station frequently. Ask for Phil! I did manage to make a few observations over time: - They park all the customer cars on their own lot. I have been to other places where my car would be parked on the street. - They use new Mobil oil, as compared to recycled oil at the cut rate places - Joe's Shanghai brings their cars here and frequently brings soup dumplings for them! The manager from this shop ALWAYS break things down for me, he is very patient with me, always makes me feel comfortable whenever I have a "dumb" questions. I don't speak to other employees since there is a language barrier however the manager works everyday so I do speak to him. They have been fixing my cars for over a year now, I have NEVER came back for a problem they already have fixed. I had "emergencies" & they would fix my car within 24 hours, very responsive & professional. When it comes to prices, I am not familiar with the cost of maintenance work however I can say they have fixed, belts, tensioners, tires, brakes etc etc & I have NEVER had a problem. Second visit. Got 4 brand new Bridgestone Turanza tires, alignment and synthetic oil change. Work was professionally done. Took almost 3 hours but that is to be expected. Only gripe is the lack of a waiting area especially during inclement weather but also to be expected since it is a gas service station. My left front tire was very low, so I brought it to Lai's to use their air pump a few days ago. When I got out of my car, a huge nail was staring at me in the tire. I told the manager it looks like I need a new tire. Can you put one on for me? He said they'll take care of it in a few minutes. They could have easily sold me a new tire, but they took the nail out and repaired the tire so I didn't need to buy a new one. That is honesty and I am impressed with their integrity. This place is very inconvenient for something as simple as oil change and inspection. If you go late they will tell you to bring it in the next morning. Will call you around the afternoon when it is ready, can't wait out there. Other place will have a area where you can sit and wait. I am a long-time customer of this auto service. Although they may charge a little more than other auto services, they perform decent work. However, the situation changed since the old owner retired. The new owner, Phillips, is difficult to talk with. I received a long list of so-called safety issues when I went there for annual inspection last year. In order to pass the inspection, I purchased two tires from them, which was not within my plan. The tires did not have a DOT number and each cost more than $100. This year the owner asked me again to replace the other two tires, which I rejected. I only drove the car for about 800 miles for the past year and the tread of my other two tires is close to 6/32 inch, which is 3 times as the minimum required tread depth. The tires have no cracks or obvious degradation. The owner then pulled out the old long list of so-called safety issues and said he could not let me pass the inspection (they didn't fix any of those so-called issues last year and yet they let me pass the inspection, merely because I purchased two tires from them). After waiting for more than 2 hours in the cold wind for nothing, I left and went to another auto service nearby, where I got the inspection done in about 20 minutes and paid exact $37. read more

On a saturday afternoon around 2pm That said they we're very busy so i had to wait ,they gave me a ticket and took down my phone number telling me they was going to call me when it was my turn So i parked my car to the side of their shop Walked around for about 25 mins than i came back to the shop to see what was going on since I haven't received a call.. My cars AC was not blowing out cold air..told the mechanic i already try to recharge it with refridge and it did not work..he diagnosed the problem and told me i needed a new condenser & everything will be $400 with labor and recharge of refridge.. He told me the condenser alone was $150 No thanks i ordered the part on ebay for $50! $100 less! And installed it myself with the help of YouTube lol and bought a $30 AC refridge in autozone & recharged the AC myself thats a total of around $85 compared to what he quote me $400! read more

I came here on a friend's recommendation. It's not the closest auto repair place to my house, but I'm willing to travel a little for an honest mechanic (hah! When's the last time you heard those words together?). A little about me: I've had my car for 4.5 years and have yet to break 12,000 miles. My car's in pretty good condition. That being said, I still need to have maintenance done on it every now and then, and my yearly inspection. I didn't want to go somewhere that would tell me I need to replace so-and-so part because my car will fall apart otherwise/not pass inspection/[insert line here]. So, I went to these guys. Friendly, honest, did what they had to do (and fast!). They even reset the oil percentage meter when they changed my oil. The dealership didn't do that when I brought it to them for my first oil change! Little things, but it makes all the difference. I recommended the place to my parents and brother, and they had equally good experiences. It's so nice to know that there's a worry and fuss-free auto repair shop out there.
