I think that the head pharmacist is especially professional, and her professionalism inspires other staff members. Admittedly, the role of pharmacist in NYC can be a thankless job. This phenomenon is compounded by 1) ungrateful patients and 2) the ubiquity of paperless/electronic prescriptions. First, the average New Yorker is not especially lavish in his or her praise. Out-of-staters would do well to add at least one star to any New Yorker-curated review. Second, I'd venture to say that an overwhelming majority of states continue to use paper prescriptions without complication. The misguided practice of electronic prescription shifts the onus of safeguarding prescriptions to the pharmacist. Someone who is constantly receiving an endless supply of traceless prescriptions. Environmental concerns and opioid abuse notwithstanding, medical prescriptions are sufficiently important to justify a paper trail. It stands to reason that it is infinitely easier for any given patient or a licensed caretaker to manage that patient's 2 or 3 paper prescriptions. In fact, the Fourth Amendment's prohibition against unreasonable searches and seizures applies where a person has a reasonable expectation of privacy. As the country's strictest paperless prescription law, to date, the 2016 state law arguably violates the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. After all, a reasonable expectation of privacy could not be more evident outside the patient-physician relationship. In effect, the New York State legislature's improvident measure forces New York patients to choose a private third party (typically a pharmacy) for electronic disclosure of their sensitive medical information as a condition precedent to many medical treatments. But I digress...this is not a Yelp review for the New York State legislature. Customers should not be ignored, dismissed, or treated with such disregard. I expect basic professionalism, attentiveness, and respect when making a purchase. It doesn't even come out of a direct dispenser like virtually every other deli or bagel store you go to in New York, but it's just a tall glass decanter sitting next to a coffee decanter in one of those coffee heaters, and the water was warm.
