On our most recent roadtrip we stopped at FD's in Springfield Missouri. Everything about this place was so perfect-I wish I could go again. The menu is so vast-everything looked so good, and was SO reasonable. I had such a hard time selecting. I ended up getting the salad with grilled fish and house dressing. SO good. Everyone else loved what they got and all the diners around us meals' also looked amazing and the portions were all quite big. Looking around, I was making notes of what I would get next time, while thoroughly enjoying my salad. For dessert, they only had one item-their specialty-key lime pie, so we HAD to try it. Wanted to modify the salmon to reduce the amount of sodium and butter sauce, as well as eliminating the butter and sour cream from the baked potato. Our server said "sure not a big deal at all" and guess what when the plate was delivered it was exactly right! My son salmon was prepared the way the menu indicated and my wife's salad with chicken was properly prepared too. The flavor of the foods were all good and better than we expected. The service continue to be perfect from start to finish. It was quiet for a casual restaurant, but we were there between lunch and dinner so it may be more robust during the peak hours. Service was good and I went early and it was very crowded. I had the fried shrimp plate. Food was fair. Think people go because they give quit a bit of food for a low price. Bake potato was very small and place looks a little run down inside. Carpet floors looked like they needed to have gotten the had push vacuum out and cleaned a little bit. Another kudos to my fellow yelpers for the great reviews - we would have not found this place otherwise! The vibe is very clean and aesthetic. The food was all delicious - we tried a little of everything: fried pickles, mashed potatoes, hot chicken, pasta... oh, and a salad. :) Everything was fresh, flavorful and generously sized portions. Second time there, asked for no extra salt, but everything was so over salted, it was hard to eat. NEVER would happen if there was a real, trained chef or someone to taste before serving. Not sure if we'll go back since we a salt intolerant and our request was ignored. read more

Went out to celebrate my brother's birthday, so there were 7 of us total. They told us 10 minute wait but it was more like 5. The waitress was friendly, but my brothers inability to make up his mind on a cocktail kind of got on her nerves. He did change his mind 3 times before giving her a final answer. All the drinks were strong except the margaritas, and they were on the lighter side. My steak came out a nice medium rare, and the Ceasars salad with pasta was different but not bad. The Five Stars is for a waiter named Paige, she was the Epitome of what a wonderful server is. She was attentive, fast, and she even made my asparagus when the kitchen took to long. I am such a fan of fish and seafood I was definitely looking forward to trying FD's. On a Saturday afternoon just after 4pm we had about a 15 minute wait to sit a table of 4. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is on the smaller side. At our table we all ordered different menu items. FD's Trio, Steak & Shrimp, Atlantic Cod and the Catfish platter. We had popcorn chicken for our appetizer and I really liked it. It's served with 2 dipping sauces, ranch and a honey dipping sauce. On my Atlantic Cod I substituted the french fries for green beans. I didn't like them because the green beans had a hint of sweetness that I disliked so much. My daughter ordered the one and only dessert on the menu, key lime pie. It's a generous slice with an incredible amount of whipped cream. I will surely dine here again and I will try different sides. read more
