The white pizza was basically dough with intentions, and the red pizza with portobello had a few sad, limp mushroom slices like someone ran out of toppings and gave up. Rochester has somehow convinced itself that bad food is "local culture." Garbage Plates, Hots, burnt-coin pizza--none of this is charming, iconic, or authentic. It's just low standards wrapped in nostalgia. This isn't pizza. It's what happens when cooks have never had good food and don't know--or care--what it's supposed to taste like. Do yourself a favor and go to NYC: Louie's, Bronx House Pizza, any decent Brooklyn spot, or even Re Napoli in Old Greenwich, CT. Until then, stop pretending this is acceptable. read more

I'm never disappointed when I visit pizza Favo. I went on a Wednesday during lunch. The lady behind the counter was very nice and told us about their lunch specials. They have lunch specials!!! They also let us try some dressings before we chose them. I got a half of pizza and salad for $13. The salad was delicious, not your iceberg salad and I got the white French dressing which reminded me of a poppyseed dressing. The bee sting pizza hit the spot and I didn't feel like I over ate. Ch-ch-changes can be good or bad. And in this case, pretty bad. Stopped by Favo on what was a fairly busy night. Up until recently, their hours have been hit or miss. Mostly miss. So when the Duchess suggested we get a pie or two (or three) I said sure... the only member of our house who didn't favor Favo was our son, Jethro. Like many long-timers on the Rochester Yelp scene, I was an early booster of Favo's since their inception. Taken many pictures, boosted them on social media, and overall have been pleased, preferring Favo over Blaze and Pi Craft. Well, as they say nowadays, hold my beer... last night was a revelation. The place was hopping, with lines of folks queuing for pies. I placed my order and waited my turn. When I was proffered my pies, I made a quick bolt for the door and shot back to the homefront. Big mistake! When I got home, major disappointment set in. The Mediterranean pizza was a mess, with ingredients dumped indiscriminately all over the pizza. The "Classic Cheese" pizza was adorned with pepperoni (huh?) and the Paesano was a soggy mess. Since we live close by Favo, I put the Paesano in the toaster oven to keep it warm and went back to get a redo on the Mediterranean and the "Classic Cheese". Big mistake... First, there was general confusion about whether or not I asked for pepperoni on the "Classic Cheese" and also what ingredients are included on the Mediterranean (?) when all I had asked for basically was to exclude mozzarella cheese. And that's where the fun began. I wound up waiting for over a half hour for them to remake the pies. I was just about to ask for my money back when they suddenly realized I had been there and they hastily gathered my remade pizzas. Mindful of the time I had spent going to and fro Favo's, I dashed home. Should've been less trustful that the remade pizzas were done properly. My bad, but I've had little or no problems there before. Sadly, the remade Mediterranean was just as bad as the first. The "Classic Cheese" (yes, those quotation marks are intentional) was misshapen and undercooked. Bleccchh! Overall, the entire experience was a waste of time and money. I will not be returning to Favo, crossing it off my list. Next time I feel a hankering for Pizza I'll either go to Basha for a Pitza (great), Pizza Stop or even Wegman's before I darken Favo's door. read more

As I sit here waiting for my pizza to come out I've watched delivery drivers come and go and other customers come in and order pizza and leave with their orders while I sit here waiting for my very simple order to go in the oven. What is the story with this "quick take away pizza"- this was the first review that started writing about this place the very first time I came here. But too often I have given it chances to redeem itself until last night. I went in to get a pizza to go at 7:45. Realizing they close at 8 I expected a quick but still well made pizza considering i still paid $20 for jt. Anyway I went up to the counter and ordered my standard pesto pizza on the menu with a single modification. While the apparent manager glared at me as if I had just brought a bus of people in to sit at his restaurant at closing time. Still I paid for my food and waited. Then after about 10 minutes I got my pizza and left with still 5 minutes before they were supposed to be closed. I would have expected some pleasantness in customer service from someone but just as there was no greeting when I arrived there was no good bye when I left. Just frosty glares and then upon eating my pizza the crust was underdone while somehow the toppings were charred. Clearly the message the night manager wants to send to his patrons is "don't come here and expect any quality food or customer service closing at 8 means we are closed at 7:30 so just steer clear " ...heard loud and clear- will not be returning again. If you dig into the reviews here it looks like something went down hill a couple of years ago- like it has good overall yelp reviews at almost 4 stars over 178 accounts but when you dig a lil you see that most of the good reviews are older than two years old- just best to go corporate for quick order pizza in Rochester. Blaze, maybe pi craft. But this is far to pricey for such horrible customer service and then substandard product. Really a trifecta of mediocrity. read more

We've been customers of Favo's from Day 1. Then we moved out of Pittsford. It's been a few years. Today we went back and got 6 pizzas to go, including 2 Mediterraneans, 1 Paesano,and 1 Ala Vodka. The toppings on all of these were very scant. So odd! A few (very few) tiny scraps of sausage were on the Paesano. That was always my go-to at Favo's. Someone suggested that you need to be there and watch them make it. If you get take-out they short-change you on the toppings. read more

Great location in heart of Pittsford. You can't beat a "build your own" pizza with unlimited toppings for only $13. All the toppings were fresh and looked great! The dining room is large and clean, plenty of room for a small or large group. The pizza is pretty thin, my preference would be to have a thicker crust. Other than that, I wouldn't change anything! In the past this used to be one of the better wood fire pizza places around. Over the past year plus the overall quality and staff have fallen off in a big way. Let me qualify that last sentence, the staff making pizza does the best they can with the little staff they have. The bar tender needs to move on and they need someone in that position that can deal with people without attitude. She is very slow and needs someone to assist her. Interesting restaurant in a somewhat bad location I think... Nestled in a plaza that is not overly busy. From the outside it looks like a typical storefront pizza joint. Inside it's sort of a weird, cool mix of modern industrial with a selection of high top and regular tables and bar seating, glass partitions and painted pipes behind the bar... And old school flat iron look with a modern tile version of knocked tin ceilings... Kind of contradictory but fun and welcoming I think. The food is typical of the trend of a deli style pizza assembly line with some unique sauces, cheeses and toppings that you don't see in an old school pizza shop. I went with a spicy red, mozzarella, banana peppers, mushrooms and black olives. Thin crust, nicely cooked and very tasty (gluten free is available.) There is a selection of fountain drinks of the cane sugar variety and a decent selection of bottle and craft beers, wine and milk shakes too. The staff was awesome! Very friendly and helpful. They were engaging and interactive, joining in conversation and joking with us. Very refreshing. Loved the game on over the bar but didn't care for the somewhat too loud, really bad music... Which I expect that other people love... So not really a drawback. This type of pizza place seems to be the latest trend. It won't replace my favorite old school pizza shop but definitely nice for an occasional change of pace. Give them a try. You'll likely be happy that you did. read more

I ordered online and paid and got a confirmation, but when I arrived to pick it up they had not received my order so I waited while they cooked my pizzas. I really wanted to like eating here. But between the s l o w service and the wet napkin pizza I was disappointed. I ate here years ago and thought that years would help it improve. We color me wrong. My wife and I had our made to order pizza meatball, sausage, onion, and artichokes. The amount of time it took for the pizza to even be made and put in the oven was shocking. I have never been to a fast pizza place that took this long to make it to the oven to be cooked. The pizza was like a wet napkin. I am ashamed to say I could not fold it without losing 90% of my toppings and had to resort to 'gulp' a fork and knife. Fantastic pizza!! Great meal had by both my friend and I. We each ordered our own pizza so that we had leftovers to take home, and so we could also try what we wanted. I made my own pizza with: wheat crust, vodka sauce, mozzarella, ham, meatballs, portabella mushrooms, black olives, basil and spinach. It was delicious!!! They added just the right amount of toppings so it didn't turn the pizza to a soggy mess, but it was also just enough to not enjoy each of them as well. My friend had the meat lovers and thought it was delicious as well. She also tried one of their milkshakes and said it was the best she's had- I have to admit it looked really good! I just inhaled my Margherita Pie from Favo and I could easily eat another one! I picked one up to go at around 3 PM today for an after work snack. You order at the counter and can choose from one of their many menu pizzas, or create your own from their numerous toppings and sauces. They also have gluten-free crust and vegan toppings available. The pizza is made-to-order and cooked in a rotating brick oven. My wait time was about five minutes, which is very fast for a fresh and hot pizza! The service was also very friendly. I got the regular crust and it's a thin crust style, which I love. I think their pizzas are the perfect size for one, especially since the thin crust doesn't fill you up as much as something thicker would. The sauce was tangy and delicious, and the fresh mozzarella was so good! This was one of the best margherita pizzas I've had in Rochester for sure. I will be back to Favo for sure. I appreciate the fast and friendly service, great food, and reasonable prices. They also have a happy hour from 3-6 with $3 beers and $4 wine and half priced wine bottles. read more

Some of the best pizza I've had! If you've ever been to Walt Disney World in Florida this pizza has a similarity to Viva Napoli. I love that they have cane sugar sodas without any artificial color or preservatives. The staff here is very friendly and the pizzas are made faster than I expected. If you're heading out here I recommend the Maui and Mediterranean pizzas, as well as the vanilla cream soda. We will be back again in the future. read more

Brick oven pizza is bop and it is delicious and each side or Rochester seems to have its unique pizzeria offering it's different spin on the bop. I thought I found my favorite in Henrietta until I tried favo. Favo follows the tried and true recipe. Pick your size and your toppings and enjoy. What works here are the toppings to crust ratio, the tasty pizza sauces, fresh and appealing toppings and their awesome finisher. The end result is a amazing tasting pizza. If you have a craving for a bop my recommendation is favo, you won't be disappointed. I will continue trying pizzerias around town but I think I found a true winner a five star winner in fact. read more

Our first time here on Saturday afternoon 3pm. We selected the Ultimate Tailgate and the Funghetto pizzas with red wine. I'm not a wine drinker so next tine I'll skip that! The pizzas are finished in 3-5 minutes ! They were very tasty and thin crusted multi grain crust. We added oregano, pepper seeds, and Parmesan which is available at the counter to serve yourself. I really appreciate the quality of the dough and toppings and the variety of toppings. However, I am a fan of a lot of toppings. I know that they feel art of the pizza making is to see the sauce and cheese and each ingredient. I like a hella lot of toppings, at least enough so that each pizza slice has one of each topping on it, I like balanced bites. Also, I won't lie, I've experienced food envy and when sharing a pizza if I get stuck with the barren piece my little pizza pie heart breaks. Casual wood fire pizza place which I love for a quick stop for lunch. The menu for pizzas has something for everyone. I got the chicken pesto pizza. I love that with each pizza you can change out ingredients if there's something you don't like. You get to watch your pizzas made in their pizza oven, and they come out ready in 5-10 minutes. The pizzas crust is thin and crispy topped with pesto and cheese, can you really go wrong. The staff was friendly and helpful. I've always liked Favo for their selections of pizzas, delicious food, great happy hour wine & beer pricing, friendly service and fun atmosphere. We decided to get some pizzas to take-away during the pandemic and take them to nearby Great Embankment Park and enjoy them outside. This was before the current heat wave we're experiencing in the ROC, and evenings outdoors were delightful and not humid. Everything was delicious and we're glad we went -- nice sized portions and enough left over for one lunch the next day. Got the Pizza Funghetto and the Mediterranean. Heads-up to pandemic take-away order-placers -- I would recommend that when you come to pick-up your order, you check with the people where you would *place* your order if you were going to dine-in .... NOT go to the place that says "Pick-up." The pizza-baker doesn't really have any idea what pies are coming his/her way and the timing of when orders will be ready. In our case, though we had a 6pm pick-up time, at 6pm our order hadn't even been created, much less baked, and I ended-up standing at the pick-up area for 15 minutes waiting ... standing next to a table of indoor diners who had taken their masks off and were talking while they waited for their orders. No one was doing anything wrong ... not the restaurant staff nor the diners ... but I wish I'd had a better idea of how far behind the restaurant was and would have waited in my car and then come inside at 6:15pm. So ... if you're like me and just trying to play it super-safe and protocoled, upon arrival check with the people creating the pizzas for the estimated time when your order is going to be ready. Tried this place out with a friend last week. I liked the made to order set up of the pizza line, and they had a lot of yummy menu options as well as the option to build your own. I went with spicy bacon broccoli (YUM) and my friend had the buffalo chicken. The pizzas are personal size, 11 inches, and I was starving and barely managed to finish, but I otherwise would've had enough to take home. I loved my choice, my friend was satisfied but not overly so by the buff chick (it's grilled rather than breaded chicken). The pizzas themselves are good deals but the prices of drinks (alcoholic and non) really add up. The customer service was also lacking at the time. Our cashier was fairly oblivious and rude. Upon walking in, you grab a menu and order whatever you would like with a cashier. Either you order a predetermined recipe or make your own. I made my own. They have 2 different choices of crust and a lot of sauce options. The guy first rolled out the fresh dough. Then, we went down the subway-like ingredient counter. They had a ton of options! I got the traditional crust, spicy red sauce (not spicy at all), vegan cheese ($3 up-charge), and about 7 veggie toppings. They then place your pizza into a rotating brick oven. The food came out quickly, but ordering the pizza took a while since they had to make 5 before mine. The staff were very nice and accommodating when I ordered a lot of toppings. The downside is how thin and small the pizza was. Also, vegan cheese being such an expensive upcharge is ridiculous. At the grocery store, normal and vegan cheese cost about the same. Why should I have to pay so much more than proper with regular cheese? They also didn't put much on. At Pi Craft, vegan cheese is the same price as regular. Favo seems to want to turn people off with that price! A beverage was an extra $3-$4 as well. Overall, decent pizza but I probably won't be back. $3 for vegan cheese plus an extremely thin pizza? As far as vegan and gluten-free aware pizza places in the Rochester area go, this one is top of my list, with a less central location but more upscale and spacious than Napa Pizzeria in the South Wedge. They offer a wide range of pre-made pizzas, but I tend to most enjoy building my own (gluten-free crust with BBQ sauce, topped with portobello mushrooms, artichoke hearts, onions, pineapple and eggplant - it's awesome!). A personal pizza tends to run around $16.99. Apparently, they also have vegan cheese, which I didn't try. I would be remiss if I didn't shout out some of the best aspects of this place: the drinks. True to its Pittsford Plaza-adjacent location, Pizzeria Favo offers some truly over-the-top milkshakes of the cookies-and-cream-dusted-with-Oreos variety (not a literal example but you get the idea). They also have an amazing soda dispenser... like, actually, really surprisingly good lemonades, root beers and colas. It's definitely worth a try. This place is definitely one of my go-tos in the Pittsford Plaza area for a low-key yet still upbeat and well-presented lunch or dinner. It might even be one of my favorite pizza places in Rochester! Seriously, the whole operation is very solid, and with their colossal oven, the pizzas tend to be done very quickly. I definitely recommend checking it out if you ever venture out into the Brighton/Pittsford area. read more

Um, yes... that's pretty much what I say when anyone I know suggests coming here! This is one of my very favorite pizza places in Rochester and definitely my favorite for personal pizzas (as opposed to slices). To be fair, I haven't yet been to the new-ish place in Henrietta that is similarly formatted, but it will be hard-pressed to win my heart over Pizzeria Favo. I always get the make-your-own option which is $10 or $11 and you get to pick your crust, one cheese, one meat, and unlimited veggie toppings. I did just recently find out that if you want, you can split your "one" meat over multiple different types without an up-charge. My boyfriend did this on our last visit and it was still a generous portion of each type. I'm guessing you could probably do the same with cheese but don't know for sure. I love everything about this pizza-- crust, sauce, toppings-- all delicious! And they have yummy and unique soda fountain options, not your typical Coke or Pepsi products. read more
