Stopped while passing through. This place is charming and the food is delicious. I had the reuben and fries. I loved it. The balance of flavor was wonderful with melt in your mouth beef and cheese and the tang of the sauerkraut and some delicious rye bread. It really was great. My only critique would be to toast the bread just a bit more so the bottom slice can hold up to the wet filling. But even as it was it was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Me and my grandchildren eat here at least 2 times a month. Catfish is my grandson's favorite entree. My granddaughter always gets the chicken tenders. And it is always a must that we get fried banana peppers as an appetizer. Their milkshakes are a dieter's nightmare because they are so delicious and made the old fashion way!!! The food is always good here, and we never have any issues. My only complaint is that we sat, waiting for our order to be taken, for about 15 minutes. There was only one other table, and the two waitresses were sitting and gossiping loudly about customers. read more

This place was excellent back when it was owned by Mr. Fava, around 1983? It is a dump now, we waited for 30 min. to get our food. Half the time I could see customer's Orders sitting under the heat lamp as the waitress walked around like Stevie Wonder, oblivious to anything going on, especially food waiting to be served. We walked out after seeing people coming in after us getting their food asap. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon before 1pm with a group of 15, all of us from out of town and selecting Fava's based on the pure fact that we saw they had Hot Browns on the menu. We were all pleasantly surprised to be seated within ten minutes. Both waitresses were extremely attentive and the service was great. Most importantly, the food was great!! 6 of us ordered Hot Browns and they were phenomenal! Very large portions for the price, and made just as a hot brown should be. We came here for lunch. It's kinda a small little diner. Prior reviews were correct in saying that the service was SLOW. We waited over an hour for three sandwiches, and it's not like it was even busy; there were only five other tables being waited on. My meal in general was very good, however the "salad" was a joke. My meal came with a salad, so I requested no tomato on it. When my it was delivered, it was literally ONLY LETTUCE. I have NEVER been to a restaurant where the salad was just plain lettuce and tomato, but apparently, that is how it is here. My step mom also ordered the "salad" and it was only lettuce and tomato. I agree with John N. The place is okay. Service was fast and friendly, but the meals we had were average. Everyone else in the place was eating dessert and raving about it, but we didn't have time to stay. I had a chef salad and onion rings. My husband had a fish sandwich. If I am ever in Georgetown again, I will go back and try the pie. read more

Fava's is always a good treat and far from the chain restaurant fair so prevalent in Georgetown. My wife raves about the Pecan Pie and rarely passes it up if everyone else hasn't eaten it all before we get there. I have yet to have anything off of the menu that I did not like! read more

It had been awhile since we'd eaten here, so we decided to give it a try again. We were very disappointed. We arrived about 4:45 on a Saturday and there was only one server, who was also being 'hostess'. There were about 15 customers in the restaurant when we arrived, so it took about 12-15 minutes for the server to take our order. The food arrived fairly quickly but we were underwhelmed by the taste and the portions. The cole slaw was tasteless, the fries were mediocre. I got the fish sandwich which had four small 'nuggets' of fish and was definitely not worth the price. My husband got the hamburger steak and said it tasted pretty good, there just wasn't enough of it. I was not offered any refills on my drink so requested a Diet Coke to go, and never got it. No one asked how our meal was or if we needed anything. When we asked for extra tarter sauce, etc, the server didn't verbally respond but dropped it off and moved on. Maybe it was an 'off' night, but we won't be going back again. $23 is too much for a mediocre meal. read more

Great place to stop off I75. Located in historic downtown Georgetown. Cajan Catfish and the Combo PoBoy were what we decided on. It was delicious! Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. We stopped in from out of town for dinner. The food was ok. The portions were small and my Reuben was flat with very little meat. My mom's grilled cheese did not have very much on It either. However, my grandma did love her pie and i bet they have good milkshakes. I would recommend more for breakfast or a light lunch. read more
