I had a desperate morning this week - I woke up without coffee, tea, or any caffeine in the house. I was going to order my typical from a chain when Door Dash featured Genesis and this crazy blue concoction called a Cookie Monster Latte. Now, I am not a sweets person and I don't particularly love cookies... but it called, I answered and ordered, and it arrived it all it's blue swirly glory. This latte was DELICIOUS. Worth the crazy price that desperation pays for a coffee via door dash. Can't wait to go in and try this in person! read more

Genesis Coffee House & Eatery - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

My family and I came here for breakfast and it was fine. Nothing to write home about, but I would eat here again. It seems like they are new and are still figuring things out, as our food came out one person at a time and I had to remind them about a side I ordered. The three people working were all very friendly. You order at the counter and then they call you and/or bring your food to your table...they did both for us. It was pretty quiet when we were here. A few people came in to get takeout or pickup orders. read more

This is a nice small place I've seen tucked in when I've been in the same shopping center. Soulfeast Week was a good opportunity for a first time go, plus I love jalapeños. It tasted great! The chicken wings batter had a nice spice to it and the jalapeños they put on the waffles all made it a unique take on a classic. Drip coffee was good too. They got the food out in decent time and were nice. Made to order read more

Genesis Coffee House & Eatery - Soulfeast Week dish: Jalapeño Cornbread Chicken and Waffles - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Lexington, Kentucky

Visited for the first time on a Saturday morning specifically to try the chicken & sweet potato waffle. There were three in my party and we all ordered the same thing. Despite us ordering one after another, our orders were ready at different times. My order came up first and I was finished by the time the last order was ready. The chicken and waffle were very good, but could've been better with just a few tweaks. The entree is served with one syrup and a side of whipped cream. Honestly, I would've preferred more syrup an butter in place of the whipped cream. The chicken was deliciously cooked to perfection! It was crispy and well seasoned. The chicken (3 wings) perfectly complimented the sweet potato waffle. The waffle was light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The serving size filled me up and left me completely satisfied. I made a point to look over the full menu while we were there and they have a vast variety of menu options ranging from breakfast to lunch options and of course a selection of coffees and lattes. Stop in and support this black woman owned business. read more

Not my first time, I used to live & worker closer. Since I moved, I almost forgot about this place. But we happened upon on the search for a quick & late lunch. Great service! Very welcoming & engaging. Offered meal suggestions. Food made fresh & did not take long at all. Very satisfied with food & presentaction! No complaints at all. Just wish this space was in a more accessible/noticeable spot. Very welcoming interior! Cute & quaint decor. Definitely will return to support this local small business!! read more

10/7/23 My husband and I came here for coffee after church on Sunday morning. We arrived excited to try a new coffee shop. My husband ordered the camp fire breve and I had their house blend with lavender syrup. The drinks came out quickly and we took them to go. This is a great spot. The customer service is AMAZING! White chocolate bliss is my favorite. Sweet with a kick! Check this spot out for coffee, breakfast sandwiches and more. The shop is quaint but comfortable. It's perfect for coffee with a small group, a lunch meeting, or a virtual work day. I work from home 80% of the time and can see myself having a work morning here. The music is perfectly curated for a diverse group. Stop by and try anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed! read more

Bad service - very slow and didn't give us the right food. At 10am they are out of potatoes... and are having a shift change so they can't handle having 2 customers pretty tough look for a business. They also gave us the wrong coffee but we just wanted to get outta there so we didn't ask to change. Genesis also did not offer us a refund for not having the potatoes that we ordered. Really poor quality stuff. read more

The inside of this place is adorable. Super clean and pleasantly decorated. It's quite cozy, but there are several tables and benches to sit and work at. The barista was so friendly! I went in to order a hazelnut latte, but she recommended i try their Nutty Professor latte, which is chocolate+hazelnut, topped with whip and two nutter butter cookies- i couldn't resist. Definitely a treat coffee! Looking forward to trying what they have to offer for breakfast/lunch read more

An Inviting and warm atmosphere. The music is nice. The seating; lighting and decor is simple and comfortable. I could have lingered for hours. The ladies at the counter were very welcoming, kind and patient as I study the menu. The menu has the usual coffee house offerings, breakfast sandwiches, coffee varieties (hot and cold), cold and hot tea varieties, baked goods and sandwiches. I had an iced mocha coffee and it tasted as good as any I have had. The breakfast sandwich was perfect. The croissant was warm, buttery and toasted to slight crunchy just they way I like it. The sausage and fried egg presentation and preparation were "textbook." It was tasty, too. I'm glad i was introduced to this wonderful establishment. I will be back and I'll bring a friend! read more

Yesterday my daughter and I checked out this spot. The owner was very friendly, and professional. We ordered a chicken salad on a crossaint, everything veggie on flat bread, and mandrin orange salad. We will definitely go back and support her. Loved the feature on the news to bring light to this black-owned business. We will take picture of the food next time, it was just so good. read more

Great food and drinks honestly better then Starbucks and great customer service the owner is soooo nice

I'm really glad I found this place! I have driven past genesis coffee a handful of times without even knowing it was there but I sure am glad I found it. Other reviews mentioned how welcoming the environment is, and after reading those I was still shocked at how welcoming it actually was when I walked in. The woman behind the counter was extremely kind and the food was amazing. Everything was very fairly priced and the food was prepared quickly but thoroughly. I will definitely be stopping back in soon. read more

Great food freshly severed with outstanding atmosphere and service!! Oh, and this place will make you divorce Starbucks. Locally owned and all about community. A must stop by for sure! read more

Genesis is tranquil & delicious! You can tell Ms. Wilson has poured her heart, soul, and prayer into this cafe and I felt at home the moment we walked in! The waffle recipe was delicious, the vegetables were fresh, and the selection of items were wide enough or party could all order something they enjoyed. I'm from Nashville but next time I'm in the Lex I'll stop in for a treat! read more

Inviting atmosphere and people with delicious coffee and food. This is my new favorite meeting location.

I needed to land somewhere and work for several hours today and this place was perfect. I started my morning with a cappuccino and a ham, egg, and cheese croissant. They were both spot-on. At lunch I had the pimento cheese sandwich and it was also wonderful. Be sure to give the Sunrise drink a try if you're looking for a citrus pick-up. The staff were friendly and accommodating. And there were plenty of power outlets for keeping my devices charged. I'll be returning soon! read more

This is a hidden gem. Great for coffee and food. The staff is amazing. I discovered this spot while visiting friends in KY. Location is easy to find and if you don't have a washer and dryer you can do it next door(laundry mat). read more

I saw this place advertised for Lexington coffee week and wanted to try one of their speciality lattes. The staff is extremely friendly, but my order had a few mistakes (wrong coffee entered into system, my coffee didn't have the milk substitute I requested, & my sandwich came with the wrong meat on it). Another customer behind me also had some issues with her order being inaccurate. The coffee and food were good despite the discrepancies and I think this place has potential. It would be nice if they moved to a larger location in the future that could serve as a study/work spot because at the moment it's not set up for more than eating and chatting. read more

I've worked in coffee shops for years and while I normally live on just espresso, I love a good specialty drink and Genesis is the BEST! I usually come for the Butterscotch Blondie (which is probably the best blonde drink I've ever had - consistently), but the white pumpkin chai latte is making its way into my favorites as well! My husband absolutely loves the white chocolate bliss which is great because he is so picky about his white chocolate mochas. Aside from fantastic drinks they also have great sandwiches. Our favorites are the breakfast croissants and turkey and avocado! We go out of our way commuting to work to come here and it is so worth it. Best lattes and mochas in Lexington!! read more
