Had a box lunch at an event from Stein's. The little sandwiches were just not very good, Caprese and BBQ chicken. There was, what I think, was a lemon bar, but took a bite and passed. Appreciate availability of call ahead curbside service, and realize how difficult it is for restaurants to veer from traditional formats to accommodate patrons during our recent national public health crisis. I really wanted to love this place since it's so close to my house and I always love supporting local businesses. The food was good, we got the pastrami sandwich and the turkey panini. The reason why I'm giving this place only 3 stars is because the prices were a bit ridiculous. We didn't even buy drinks and it was $28 for 2 sandwiches. Food was good, prices are ABSURD!!! Over $60.00 for 3 sandwiches, $8.00 appetizer and 3 drinks. We tipped but should not have, only received counter service and nothing more. Tazikis, Jason's Deli or even Panera is a better value and all within 1/2 mile distance. We expressed our opinion to the older lady the behind counter but her attitude was less than desirable and she urged us to leave our review online. Stating they had plenty of business and we were 3 out of the 5 people in the place. I do not see this restaurant staying in business long. This is a new delicatessen located on Southland Drive, which I had seen mentioned in a news article and was anxious to try out. Very attractive venue, spotlessly remodeled, nice menu, friendly staff, nice selection of sandwiches, soups, desserts and sides. I'll definitely be back to better review them but I do have to note we came here for Lox & bagels because we saw it on Yelp. Their parking is good during the 10am Saturday time of visit. We get there order, pay, and sit down for about 10 minutes before they came to tell us they didn't have it. We left for something else because that was the whole reason we chose this place. They refunded our money and gave us our choice of dessert to show their apologies and appreciation. Their salads looked AMAZING and they looked really clean and well put together. While they tasted good I just wasn't blown away by my $9 half a pastrami sandwich and $4 miniature cup of matzo chicken noodle. The restaurant seemed to be in a dead zone for cell service which was weird. Not their fault and probably out of their control just connected to their wifi.The counter lady was nice and friendly but she seemed distracted and was kind of doing a little bit of everything. Used Facebook to look up their information and menu, after seeing on Yelp they had the best hot pastrami sandwich in Lexington. Called to make the order, only to be told that no one was hardly ordering pastrami anymore so they cut back their order and were out for the day, at 1120 am. Decided to go into the restaurant since we were close. Ordered sandwiches from the menu posted on Facebook, only to be told that they hadn't been serving salami since the pandemic started. Their menu at the counter didn't have salami, but their menu post on June 20, 2020 listed salami as an option. It would be nice if they used their social media to keep people up to date daily on what they have or don't, and keep their menu accurate. Ordered something else and waited. Social distancing measures in place and masks, but the female cook did not wear a hair net or hat while preparing the food despite the 100 posted on their last inspection. The corned beef sandwiches were VERY fatty and hard to bite into. The taste is there, but the meal ended up being messy and hard to eat. Wanted this to be a good experience since we were in town visiting but very disappointing all the way around. read more

I heard about this deli from guys at work so my wife and I tried it today. We had a hot pastrami sandwich with a beet salad side and a broccoli salad as an extra side. It was wonderfully prepared, with obviously fresh ingredients. The venue is clean and fresh and smelled of deli spices. It reminds me of some of my favorite delis in Philly or New York. I will say that I have noticed some of the reviews liking the place but considering the prices to be high. To be fair I don't consider the prices outrageous for well prepared sandwiches and freshly made sides - this is quite different from a chain Subway shop where they slap together a $6 sub plus some bagged chips. My mom and I met at Addie's today to try it for the first time and we had a good experience. The woman working behind the counter was very helpful in telling us about the specials and also elaborated on the deli's connection to Addie's at Woodford Inn in Versailles. The menu had quite a bit to choose from - all standard fare for a deli - but I did get a bit of sticker shock when we received our bill. We ordered two chicken salad plates (one on lettuce and one on toast, each came with chips and a pickle), one extra side (red skim potatoes), and two soft drinks. Before tip our bill was $27. Am I crazy for thinking that's steep for a deli lunch? Don't get me wrong - the food was yummy, the location is fantastic, and the decor was beautiful! I would go back if in the area with no other lunch options - which let's be honest, since The Soup Kitchen and Willie's closed there's really only Winchell's and PieTana - but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We saw the article in the paper claiming this will be a New York style deli, unfortunately it does not in any way come close. Went there on a Saturday afternoon, ordered a pastrami on rye and a corned beef on rye with nothing but horseradish and 2 drinks. I don't know what was so hard about the order but the girl taking it got it wrong 3 times. With no one else in front of us - it took 15 minutes for us to get our sandwiches. The pastrami was okay, but the corned beef was terrible. The corned beef was bland and full of fat that you could not chew. The grilled rye bread was extremely greasy. They told us they had horseradish but 5 minutes after giving us our sandwiches they told us the order did not come in, which meant no horseradish. According to the paper everything was freshly made- that did not seem to be the case as it tasted store bought. For 2 sandwiches with 2 fountain drinks - $32.00 is overpriced. The BLT I had was reasonably good and the broccoli salad very good. I had Matzo ball which was a little salty. $20 plus tip seemed a little ridiculous especially given the average quality. It was worth about $10 dollars. In terms of the food a reasonable place to eat but too expensive. read more

I was so excited to have a new lunch place on Southland only to be very disappointed with extremely high prices for a half pastrami sandwich with hardly any mustard or cheese, very dry chunky meat with this nice surprise of hairs underneath the sandwich. Stopped in for lunch during the week. My BLT was very good. Crisp bacon and fresh veggies with perfectly toasted bread. My boyfriends Pastrami sandwich was huge. There was too much meat if that's possible. The potato salad had good flavor but did have some raw potato in it. Overall we will be back again! We miss Addie's in Versailles. Stopped by for the first time today. Ordered 2 lunch specials 1 drink, 1 kids meal, 1 extra side: price was 28 dollars, which is the average price of a lunch trip with the family anywhere we regularly go. Hot lunch plate was a surprise: Meatloaf was great, potatos were clearly homemade, but lacking salt (np, its on the table), green beans were perfect. Fried bologna Sandwhich was good, daily soup was really good. child grilled cheese was nothing spectacular but he ate all of it, so mission accomplished. Friendly staff, nice building, today was good value for the price. Games on the tables keep the kids busy. Order was made relatively quickly, we waited about 15 minutes and there were at least 1 or 2 tables ahead of us. This is a reasonable amount of time to make 2 sandwiches, plate them, and fill some bowls. I reviewed the menu while waiting on my food, and the regular menu did look a little pricey. The pastrami and corned beef sandwiches came in at $13 full $9 half (although that does include a healthy portion of chips) Other sandwiches ran about 9-12 dollars and all sounded quite tasty, and i assume also came with chips. That being said i saw several pastrami on rye, or maybe ruebens, come out of the kitchen and they looked very very enticing....I am planning to return soon and try the Pastrami. I recently visited Stein's with a group of 14 ladies. We placed our orders, and within a short time our meals were served. They offered a nice soup of choice, half sandwich and chips, which most of us selected, for $8. I chose the cream of chicken with rice soup, and hot ham and cheese sandwich. Both were delicious, with the sandwich having lots of ham. The server was very efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was clean welcoming. I plan to visit again for the hot pastrami sandwich. Holy smokes... This place is AWESOME. I had the hot and and cheese and with a cup of chili and it was all delicious. I see some reviews on here commenting on price but the portions are huge and you can tell the ingredients are high quality... far and away better than some $5 sub chain.. Another person in my group got the pastrami and said it was the best they had ever had. We also got a couple of the homemade deserts to try and they were SO good. I loved the Nutella Cheesecake. This might be the best sandwich shop in town! I will definitely be back and it will probably become a regular lunch spot for me and my friends! read more

I've visited a few times for lunch and tried a number of different dishes. The food is admittedly pretty good. But it's not spectacular. And the prices are simply too high. Nearby Jason's Deli offers similar quality, more choices and quite frankly, better value for your lunch dollar. I want Stein's to succeed because its offers at least a few items no one else in town does. But I fear it might not able to compete with more reasonably priced alternatives. read more
