Packed a bite. Fresh ingredients. I had chips and the chili. Chili was average, but not bad. Arrived hot and was a good contrast for the cold, crisp sandwich. I also got a cool little cucumber and onion salad, but the dressing was a little heavy. This deli has some classics, like the club, grilled chicken, and ham and cheese. They also have "bolder" choices, like the Reuben, the Italian, sandwiches with sauerkraut, and sandwiches with pastrami. They also have a French dip with au jus sauce. They have multiple salads and sides, including potato salad, Mac n cheese, and veggies. A good, basic deli with lots of choices. I would eat here again. read more

My fiancé who is recently getting to eat normally again after recovering from chemotherapy and breast cancer. Tried to eat here at 8:40pm on Saturday and order a baked potato. The kid said I'm sorry we just ran out of potatoes 20 minutes ago. I said really or are you just not wanting to cook a potato. He shrugged his shoulders and said have a good night and walked to the back. I hope he was able to get out and get downtown to the bar. Sandwiches are very good along with their salads. Their potato salad is out of this world. They did forget a very important condiment to my meal, but for the most part this is a great deli. So far it's the best deli in Lexington. They could put a bit more bacon on the club sandwich instead of just putting a half strip on each half. You should be able to taste the bacon on the club, but they throw it on there in tiny pieces like an afterthought. read more

I have been to McAlister's several times in Richmond, but I rarely go to this location. The food remains consistent. It's great. I usually get the pick 2. It's a great deal and it allows you to sample different items on the menu. The ultimate nachos is a great go to. It is both filling and satisfying. I had a small issue with the veggie potato. The peppers were not cut into bite size pieces. Yes, I can cut them myself but it diminished my experience at this restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

i really want to like this place. the food is tasty, it's decently priced for the portions you get and all of my friends love it. the problem i have isn't with the food, it's with how the food makes you feel hours later. i have now ordered from here twice, both times delivery, and gotten sick from it both times and so did my fiancé. the first time i got the rueben and this time i got the choose two broccoli cheddar soup and some really yummy beef horseradish sandwich. the food is GOOD do not get that wrong but man, it doesn't settle well. think food poisoning for both times. i was in disbelief but there are MANY reviews of people getting food poisoning from different mcalisters locations across the US on "iwaspoisoned.com". that website works the same way this one does but you mark places you have been food poisoned at. read more

Veggie Spud Everytime we order Togo from this location it is always messed up. This was supposed to be a veggie spud. It has a couple peppers and lettuce and that's about it. They also forgot the entire French dip sandwich. No cheese no butter no nothing. We tried to call the store and they said there was nothing they could do unless we came into the store. Excellent McAlister's location. Restaurant was super clean, staff very nice and food was great. Ready when we got there from our online order, and not one thing wrong. We were given a free parking to park in the garage near the business and my fault I lost the free pass. I was so pissed at myself for doing so. Little did I know that I believe one of the managers was behind me to get out of the garage a heard me being mad out loud at myself and she did the unthinkable. She went above and beyond, got out of her car and had recognized us from the restaurant and scanned her monthly pass to let me out. I can not say enough about the Customer service and overall experience. Truly a rarity in these days to be treated so wonderfully from start to finish. I have never received a worse excuse for food in my life. For $11 I received a half club sandwich. Trust me, two saltine crackers would have been plenty for the whole thing. Half chef salad.... I won't even get started on that.... Kids size baked potato.... Good thing I wasn't feeding a child. It was cold, half cooked and mealy, like it had been cooked for way too long. We're not even braving the other sandwich....., especially after trying the pittance of turkey that was so stringy it was amazing. First time coming here and will definitely be back! So many choices from salads, sandwiches, potatoes and soups! The atmosphere was calm and friendly. I got the pick 2 with the peppercorn Turkey club sandwich and the chef salad. They were both delicious! McAlister's, you're getting a two, and that's solely because your local staff is so good, and so spotless, that the local people working in this location bring you up to a 2/5. I'm a restaurant cook myself, I can tell that the people working here are doing their damnedest to be friendly, clean, polite, fast, every good thing that a restaurant employee could possibly do to make a restaurant successful. The fault doesn't lie with them McAlister's. It lies with you, the corporate chain. Ready for the harsh criticism? Hear they come, ready and numbered. #1) I ordered a French Dip sandwich, a bag of chips, a small cup of chicken tortilla soup, and a lemonade for lunch. The French Dip + chips costs $9.00 or so, which is a completely fair price to pay for a good sandwich in a good deli. No problem with that. The problem is, it's not much of a sandwich, in terms of portion size. C'mon man, if people are going to a deli to buy a good sandwich, they're expecting to get a full lunch worth of sandwich. I'm not expecting dinner here, but for lunch? C'mon man, your sandwiches are skimpy. #2) the chicken tortilla soup. Well, it tastes like it has some fajita seasoning in it. Buying a cup of a popular, well-known dish like "chicken tortilla soup", you might expect that *maybe* it might have some actual chicken in it, or some beans, or rice, or peppers, or any of the actual, real-world meat & vegetables that everyone else on Earth have agreed constitute the dish known as "chicken tortilla soup". What the fuck is wrong with you?!? If your restaurant can't produce soup, then don't put soup on the menu. This is a huge sticking point for me, because this is how I learned prep cooking, when I was first moving up from the dish room to the line: You learn how to properly handle kitchen tools, you make the soup for the day (the "soup du jour" if you're so bold as to actually learn a goddamned thing about having a restaurant that serves real food)... ugh, fuck off. Instead, you serve this viscous fluid with no actual meat or vegetables in it, that vaguely tastes like fajita seasoning. You can fuck off entirely with this homogenous garbage that I'm completely certain came out of a plastic bag. #3) your booths suck. It's uncomfortable to sit in them. Your restaurant is not a relaxing, enjoyable place to sit down and eat in. #4) parking isn't convenient. This one isn't even McAlister's (the corporate chain) problem, so much as a city problem. Nonetheless, don't expect an easy way to park your car feeding a meter, or dicking around with a parking garage. A good thing I can say for you McAlister's, when I was walking in for my lunch, your food delivery guy had just pulled his truck up and was unloading cases of fresh potatoes into your kitchen. Again, as a cook myself, I've 100% had that job, of being the kitchen guy that had to check all those cases and sign off on the delivery. I can say, when you buy a baked potato from McAlister's, at least it was freshly delivered? Because, ya'know, it's this giant feat of culinary excellence to bake a potato and put some toppings on it. McAlister's corporate PR guy that looks at this review, don't you dare get mad and take it out on the local staff in this one location. Everything about the people here was top-notch. Again, restaurant guy, cook, whatever you want to call me, these people did the absolute best you could possible expect them to do, given the shitty tools you gave them. Their restaurant was clean, spotless, the service staff was friendly, helpful, fast, but not in a rush, considerate of the customer in every way, had their location following all local codes regarding social distancing, everything that a reasonable person could possibly expect from a restaurant that wants to operate cleanly and make some money by producing a good product for a reasonable price. No, you hypothetical McAlister's corporate straw man, the fault lies squarely with you, and what you consider a "deli" that any real person with any sort of common sense would buy from. You can generally depend on McCallisters to deliver, but, not the one in Richmond, KY! Three complaints and they're major. One, the wait time. I ordered two simple to prepare items. roast beef on cheddar, AND, a bowl of vegetarian chili. So in order of grievances they are as follows: The restaurant was NOT busy, probably ten other customers. I waited almost exactly 30 minutes for the above order. Again, I was alone, and I had ordered two things, one of which was simply a bowl of chili! As I was preparing to inform the manager "I'm leaving and want my money back!" the food was brought to me. The sandwich was a Panini, NOT, what I had ordered, and the chili was thin, soupy, and get this: the bowl was literally just slightly over half full.Huh? $14, Yes I'm telling the truth, for a small Panini that I didn't order, a half-bowl of below mediocre chili, delivered in 30 minutes and finally, let me add that McCallisters I've been in around Georgia and Tennessee are generally bright, clean, an attractive restaurants. Not this one. It sits on the bottom level of a dated, dingy strip-mall and the restaurant itself seems poorly lit, and as dingy inside as outside. Terrible McCallisters. I thought that I would try this deli. I ordered online as I can never tell where to park. Most of the food was delivered and tasted good. Unfortunately the pickles I added were not included despite being on the receipt. The manager seemed to make it as if I just couldn't find them, which I did not appreciate. This location continues to befuddle me. On one hand, the food is decent and my interactions over the years with management has been great. However, this is the third time I have ordered food online and had to wait 10-15 minutes past my projected pick up. That actually ISN'T the issue. While waiting I get to sit and watch other customer interactions, etc. For the third time, I've heard swearing from the kitchen. Loud swearing. It's off putting. Today it was a shout of "GODDA***T!"
