I find Smashing tomato to be prices for fast casual, but the food is SOOOO GOOD. Staff and speed is hit or miss, but again - delicious food!

Shared two Pizza Week Specials

A friend wanted to go to Smashing Tomato for Pizza Week 2022. We ordered both specials. (See photo of descriptions.) Surprisingly good. I had an Affogato after lunch, free thanks to a YELP Reward. 95

Pizza and soups were excellent. The service was fast and very friendly. The cashier was very helpful as well. The restaurant was clean and well kept. The pasta could use a little more sauce and was a little dry but the flavor was great. Overall a great experience.

Gluten Free 6" Margherita di Bufala

The gluten free pizza is amazing! Not cheap, but worth every penny for the quality. Wish I'd taken a side by side of my husband's pizza (not gluten free) because they looked very similar. I haven't had a GF pizza like this since I visited NYC.

The premise here appears to be an accessible Neapolitan style pizza. It's casual, and the pizzas are on the smaller side (though more filling than they look). They have some nice combination deals, though I will say my phone and Toasttab could not figure out how to work together for some reason so I had to order on a computer. Not sure whether the issue with being unable to select a pizza is on my end or theirs. Anyway, this is a style of pizza that is best eaten fresh, and while it took me a tad longer than I'd hoped to get there, my pizza boxes were still steaming. I ate a couple of slices quickly before relocating, and even five minutes later, the difference was noticeable. Either eat there or eat quick if you want the full experience. The menu didn't 100% line up with what I would want; some pizza places do go out of their way to offer more in the way of vegetarian/vegan or GF, but this wasn't such a place. The vegetable-based special I got had sundried tomatoes, marinated garlic, and mushrooms on it, which was an indulgent and tasty combination. My arugula pizza delivered the freshness I desired. The salad I got came with some bread on the side, which arguably defeats the point of ordering a salad but it was tasty bread. Overall, it satisfied my urge for Neapolitan style pizza, and I'll likely return.

Had a lovely lunch combo from here. I got a 6 inch pizza with balsamic sausage pesto and some other things. It has really nice flavor and felt pretty light for pizza. I am paired it with a tomato basil soup. The soup comes with a lovely toasted and herbed slice of bread. I did not expect the soup to be so textured. It was thick and creamy with tomato and cheese in it. I didn't think that the cheese was necessary, but it was the best tomato soup I've ever had. I would return here and make it a go to lunch option. Lastly, I could've absolutely shared this and it would've been perfect for two.

Wood - fired Artichoke Dip
Hunter S.

I ordered the Margherita pizza and the wood fired artichoke dip, which came with a type of bread. The artichoke dip was quite heavy and oily. The pizza wasn't the worst I've had, but also not the best. The crust was a little limp, but the sauce had good flavor. Better than average big chain pizza, like domino's and papa john's. Prices were fair. Restaurant also has a selection of other pizzas, salads, pasta, and flatbread sandwiches. This was a delivery order, so having food in house may make a big difference. I'm fairly ambivalent about this meal.

Most of the seating is indoor inside of the Micher's Greenhouse there, so even if the weather hadn't of been nice it would have been a great time. There was great live music as well. We decided to get a bavarian pretzel to split, as well as her getting their raspberry crepe while I decided on their lemon curd crepe. Everything we had to eat was fantastic. Everything else I saw on the menu sounded delicious. Service was also quick and fantastic. The kitchen was pumping out food quick and the wait staff had it out to us as soon as possible. I'll always recommend this as a nice date spot for others.

It's the perfect spot for a catch up with friends, a date, or even a solo retreat. Nestled inside Michler's nursery, the verdant surroundings make for a transportive experience. Every year, while driving between Chicago and Florida, we make a tradition of stopping in Lexington…read moreto take our friend out for dinner. This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.
