The Midwestern - Deviled Eggs

The deviled eggs lured me in! As you can probably already guess, I had them as an appetizer, and…read morethey were delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the walleye with Brussels sprouts and corn. This was actually my first time hearing of and trying walleye, and I have to be honest--the taste just wasn't for me. It had an off-putting flavor that I couldn't stomach, and paired with the bones, I was done. Let me be clear though, this wasn't a chef mistake or an issue with how the fish was prepared. I simply didn't like the taste. The dish itself looked amazing. When our waitress noticed I had only eaten a small piece of the fish, she asked if I'd like to try something else. I decided to go with a burger instead, and it was pretty decent. No complaints there. Overall, I'd definitely go back for more of those deviled eggs and to try some other items on the menu. Nice ambiance, friendly staff, and great customer service. Definitely worth another visit.

We sat at the bar and had a couple of beers and ordered the kettle chips and dip. The beers were good and cold. The chips were not good at all. They were gold and not made fresh. The bartender was good and checked back on us regularly. But after one drink and the appetizer, we decided to try another place.

Absolutely loved our breakfast here! My husband and I sat on the patio overlooking the river, and…read morethe view alone made it worth the visit! So peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect start to our morning! What truly made the experience exceptional was our server, Jenn. She was incredible from start to finish!! She was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. She made great recommendations, checked on us at all the right times, and went above and beyond in ways you don't see often. My husband is picky about biscuits and gravy, and Jenn kindly brought him a sample of the gravy first to make sure he'd like it...such a small gesture to some people, but truly made it special for my husband. She even sent us off with coffee to go, which we really appreciated!! The food was just as impressive. I had the traditional breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were nice and crispy, Jenn recommended the ham, which was so flavorful and perfectly charred, so good!!! My husband ended up loving his biscuits and gravy! Between the amazing service, delicious food, and relaxing riverfront setting, this was easily one of our favorite breakfast experiences. Jenn truly made it memorable, and we'll definitely be asking for her every time we come back. Can't wait to return!!

To grab a fresh, clean meal that has personality, head straight to CBW…read more My mouth is watering just thinking about that doesn't-get-any-fresher-than-this squeeze of lime, then popping out each tender, young bean of my go-to favorite, the Salt and Lime Edamame. The Roasted Cauliflower seriously deserves its own fan club. Smoky and just tender enough, this side dish makes me feel like I made a responsible, healthy life choice. The mild corn salsa is bright and cheerful, though I will admit I treat the red peppers like an unwanted guest and politely pick them out, one by one. Their tortilla chips walk that fine line of perfectly salty, without tipping into regret, while the hummus is smooth and mellow. An efficient staff keeps things moving, but if you're introverted - or just don't want to commit to human interaction - the kiosk has your back. Dine inside, or al fresco, with a few patio tables.

The food was disappointing. Mine was supposed to have peppers and carrots but they were rare finds (see photos of Thai Bowl) as it was mostly hunks of broccoli with stems and cabbage leaves. Bland and unappealing, not cooked well, especially compared to Hawaii Poke, where the broccoli almost melts in your mouth it's so tender- and no stems. I won't be returning here.

I am a BBQ guy. I can do it myself better than most restaraunts so I don't often rate BBQ places…read more This place is really good. I had a 3 meat meal, wings, burntends ad ribs. fries and beans for sides. The wings were what they call trashed, fried, sauced then fried again. I have ony found this in St. Louis but it is probably my favorite way to have wings. The burnt ends were cooked perfect. The wings didn't look right when they came out, you can see in the picture that they look burned. They were not, the sauce was put on and allowed to cook until it carmelized. They fell off the bone, who doesn't love that? I am pretty sure I have eaten at another Salt and Smoke near the stadium. I will come here again.

There was plenty of seating available with an upstairs area as well. Should be able to accommodate larger parties. As for the food, I ordered a 3 meat combo with pork ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. It comes with two sides, which I chose the kale salad and burnt ends toasted ravs. Definitely way too much food for one and can be split for two. I feel that the sides were good. Toasted ravs were filled with well seasoned shredded burnt ends, and the kale salad provided a nice contrast to the bbq. The brisket was kind of dry, pulled pork was decent, but the ribs were the highlight of the three meats I had chosen.
