My husband and I went in Fathom's Bar at the Riverview Hotel needing to get a quick meal before an event in Downtown Mobile. We were quite surprised at the great menu so we both ordered their cheeseburger which was quite delicious with fries. My husband also enjoyed their Bellingrath's Garden cocktail which had a great citrus taste. Our meal was finished when our departure time came. Customer service was awesome!! Inside the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel providing a setting that blends style, comfort and convenience. Servers were welcoming and gracious. 4 adults and 2 kids sat at a large table and enjoyed a variety of foods. Pretzel with beer cheese was excellent. Cesar salad with grilled chicken good. This is such an upscale hotel restaurant. We stayed here and decided to get something to eat from here. It was really classy, they had a live saxophone player that was really talented. He was playing up to date music and he definitely set the mood. The service was TOP notch from the waitress, the bartender and the chef. The drinks were great, and they weren't too pricey. My husband ordered the ribeye with honey butter asparagus and I wish I ordered the same after tasting his food! I had the appetizer of the shrimp Rangoon and crab cakes. Both were good as well, but the food my husband had was decadent. We'll be back for Mardi Gras and I really hope we get to enjoy the same experience!!! read more

Dined in this restaurant on Sunday night, June 23, after a show. We had a reservation at 915, but arrived around 830 to a pretty empty dining room. Our server, Angela, had 1 other table, a 1 top. From the moment we sat, we felt that Angela was not interested in us being there, and tried rushing us into ordering. Asked us if we were ready to order a minute after we sat. We were trying not to rush, and wanted to enjoy our evening at a steady pace. The restaurant does not close until 10, we assumed we had some time. Also, every one of us dining that evening, work in the restaurant business, FOH and BOH, so we're very aware of not staying beyond our welcome. We ordered a round of drinks and water. 3 apps as well. We did not see our server from appetizer drop off until dinner was served. In the meantime, we had NO water and NO drinks for a good 15 minutes. We're drinkers, we would have gladly ordered more. At one point we went to the bar for a drink, which Angela seemed very annoyed at when she did return to the table. And instead of just bringing us more water bc all of our glasses were empty. She instead came over and asked if we wanted more. At the end of dinner after she picked up our plates, she did not ask us if we wanted another drink, coffee, dessert, ANYTHING. And we did want things. But, she just brought the check. So we went elsewhere. I personally am a server, and am very aware when service is lacking due to said server being busy, or overwhelmed. This was not the case. We spent a lot of money, and would have spent more, had we felt that we were wanted there. Angela still got a tip, regardless of deserving it or not, bc, we're in the business. But, it would have been so much more if it wasn't so blatantly obvious that she didn't want to be there, Food was good, although the roasted carrots we ordered w our ribeyes literally flavored EVERYTHING on the plate w cinnamon and nutmeg. Also, at the beginning of our visit, a manager did stop by and say hello. This was before it all went downhill lol. Bartender was cool too. read more

Great hotel bar! We were visiting town on business and used this place for breaks after and between long days. The bartenders were friendly and made good drinks--not too strong, but tasty. It was a nice lil atmosphere where you could be chatty or find a quiet table or booth. They even had a table to charge your devices while having libations. There was a menu and I guess it was standard bar fare--I never bothered to eat here though because there were many nice restaurants nearby as well. But this place definitely served the purpose for out group. read more
