Nice find in Mobile ! First time in the area and it was very laid back. People there were very friendly and welcoming.

I enjoy visiting RST when I'm downtown and in the mood for a low key vibe w/ music in the lounge. It always hits the spot! The drinks are solid, the bar bites are fantastic, it's open late, and has a dark, calming aesthetic. There is usually always someone on the piano anytime you visit. Great place for a cocktail, a bite to eat and some live piano music. Check out the piano player every Friday and Saturday evening.

The live piano player drew me in from the street. About 6 people here at 8pm on a Monday. Good lighting. Definitely would bring a date here since th light is golden. Everyone is casual. It's in a hotel so I'm sure the dress code goes all over. I'm in jeans and a long sleeve shirt. A nice place to sit alone and feel safe. Bartender was the bomb digitty. read more

A nice elegant atmosphere. The food is great, the beer is cold and the service outstanding . The tavern also has nice wine selection. Akeen the bartender is always nice and on top of things. In general this is an upper scale place but it wouldn't be unusual to see someone in shorts and a t-shirt here. This is a great place to have a cocktail before a movie at the Crescent Theater ,the Saenger Theatre or maybe even a before dinner drink. Bring a date and she's guaranteed to be impressed or bring you wife for a romantic night, you might just get lucky. read more

Amazing key lime pie martini!!!! Wow...I am very happy we stopped by here. We only had drinks here, but Jeff the bartender won "bartender of the year" for AL. No wonder the drinks are amazing... We didn't have any food, but we will be eating next door at the Trellis resturaunt later. read more

The Royal Street Tavern is a nice place with good food and drinks, and a friendly staff. However, the musicians are much too LOUD!!! I go to this venue to have a conversation with friends in an elegant atmosphere, not to hear the musicians. Although I'd like to hear them, just not so loud. The last time I was there, I had to leave because of the volume of the musicians. Most annoying. read more

Downtown Mobile is exclusively college (dive) bars with this sole exception. Great place. Great atmosphere. Fluffy likes.

Best bar in the City! The drink selection is a bit pricy but after seeing the skills of the bartenders I understood exactly why. These cocktails are crafted through real skill with fresh ingredients and pizazz! Adam, my bartender, made me a Jalapeno Lemontini with fresh squeezed lemon juice and a Jalapeno syrup and he made from scratch. It sounded interesting enough but tasted amazingly!! The entire staff made me feel like a Princes. The music was great until a few loud women decided that singing loudly and off key was a good idea. They chased away half the bar. The staff was so nice about it though. I highly recommend this place for any occasion! It's a proper bar with amazingly talented "Mixologists." Ask for Adam to craft you a cocktail that you could have only imagined before. read more

The bad thing about Mobile is there are just not enough bars for the 40 and up crowd. They exist but tend to be pricey. Some of our favorites downtown: The Bull, OK Bicycle Shop, The Garage or The Haberdasher. The Royal Street Tavern in the Battle House Hotel can be pretty uncrowded, probably due to the fact that pricing is high for drinks, but at least here you don't have to be subjected to a bunch of smokers like at other locales. It's usually our first stop out. They also have good appetizers that are prepared by The Trellis Room. TR is next door, but it's not worth the price overall. However, they can't screw up appetizers! Most nights there is a piano player. Lots of great seating scattered across two levels includes tvs to watch your favorite games. Locals like stopping in after work, but still, never crowded except Mardi Gras.Service used to be terrible until Akeen arrived; service is terrible throughout the city. I'm not kidding. I think the problem is they are under scheduled. It's really noticeable after I travel. anyway, this is why it's a 4 star for me for now. The artwork may seem bizarre but is actually a great collection, some of which includes the artist Nall. The lobby of the hotel is a favorite. Head up to the second floor and try out the whispering arches. read more
