As a sign of good faith (and to prove legitimacy) I also relinquished the name of the competitor. After he said no, he abruptly declined the project despite my willingness to pay his quoted cost. In an industry saturated with competitors, it's fair to ask for a price match. It's equally fair to decline the match but to completely and suddenly reject the project because I asked about a potential price match is clearly an unnecessary emotional response to a whole lot of nothing. His response to me was "we have every right as a company to refuse to do a project for any reason." This is true but when the reason is in retaliation to typical business dialogue, it's silly, juvenile, and unprofessional.

As expected, a little secondary work was required to ensure a good fit between the parts, but they sand really nicely. Google showed that the shop wasn't too busy during lunch hour, so I took my printer in after 12PM and was the only customer there. Vinh came out and helped carry my printer in. After I explained the problem, he opened the paper tray and immediately identified a broken part, which he had in stock. It took just a few minutes for him to let me know the cost for parts and labor. He told me to go shopping and return in an hour. When I got back, he demonstrated that the printer was repaired and I was on my way. So nice to have such great service, plus Vinh is a very nice guy! The man at the store recommended printing a lot of red to clear it out, but after using up an entire ink tank trying to get a good print of a red apple, I was still getting the stripes.
