I needed to have 100 pamphlets printed for a memorial service. Checked Yelp and saw the positive reviews on Red Tie Printing, so I took my job there. When I arrived, a worker was running print jobs and he asked what print service I needed. He said the owner, Monty, was due back shortly from lunch and will help with my request. Monty returned and we talked about my order. He said he has been hesitant to take memorial printing jobs due to difficulties to please all family members. But he was willing to take my job. He took my digital files and used Adobe Illustrator to create the pamphlet. He showed us what he was doing as he put the pamphlet together. He said it's normally $10 for this service, but would charge $5 if we went through with the job. After selecting a paper type, he printed a copy. We checked the print quality and asked for the pictures to be lightened a little. Monty adjusted it and reprinted a copy. We were satisfied with the print and Monty said he would finish the print order now. He said he would do the job now rather than have us come back tomorrow. I would highly recommend Monty and Red Tie Printing for anyone that needs fast and economical printing. I came to Monty in need of some business cards. He was very up-front about the positives and negatives of the options he could offer me. I should note that the cardstock he uses for business cards is more of the "standard business card" variety; they didn't offer "unique" or "artistic" cardstocks that might appeal to people working in design. For my purposes (law profession), the cardstock he offered was good enough. More importantly, Monty took the time to do some quick editing of my business card design so that the colors would look as good as possible. Mind you, as far as I know , this is not a design shop so the services he did were just to make me happy (and were free of charge). Needless to say, I was very pleased with the end product. I had a printing job of about 100 pages that I had to get done quickly. I called around Alameda to get pricing, and Monty was far and away the least expensive. Even the library charges three times more per page than Monty. I send him my printing request via email with attachments and my phone number. Five minutes later, I had a call from Monty. I really dont like Kinkos, I am never happy with their product or the service that I receive. Because of this, I went looking for an independent printer, I found Red Tie Printing here on yelp, and every review here is spot on. I had some art prints that I wanted done, but I was unsure how to go about it. When I called, Monty answered all of my questions, and gave me advice on how to achieve what I was looking for. When I went into the store his exceptional service continued in person. He showed me all of the paper options I had, and was going to recommend a paper store to buy what I need if he couldnt provide it. After I approved the prints, and he made all the copies that I wanted, he allowed me to cut them myself using his paper cutter. While I was doing this, he received a call and had to run out to handle a family emergency. He allowed me to continue cutting my prints while he was gone. After about 10 minutes he returned and I was ready to pay. He waved the fee entirely and gave me my prints on the house because I briefly watched the store for him. I was shocked and thanked him for his help. If I need any printing work to be done, this is where I will be going. read more

I'd give Red Tie Printing more than 5 stars, if I could! Monty is the heart of the business, and fantastic at what he does! He went above and beyond to help me. I needed hundreds of pages of sheet music scanned in a very short time. And they were all (!) odd-sized and so each page had to be scanned by hand. This is an incredibly tedious task, as I've done it in the past when I had access to the right equipment and takes hours of work to complete. Not only that, but if you aren't vigilant for a second you will lose one or two notes or some symbol that we musicians need to see to play the music well. But his attention to detail was fantastic! I did not give Monty much time to complete it (I was definitely under the gun), but he worked through the night to finish my project. And on top of all of it, his price was very affordable!
