Unfortunately, we agree with Sergio's review from last week and wish we had read it before we went. Most of the reviews, pictures and ratings are misleading because apparently it has different owners now, and as a result, the set-up (now table service vs. counter ordering), service, and food are not as good as they used to be and as the overall rating suggests. We were shocked to find only four employees working. The one waitress took ten minutes to take our drink order, forgot our kids' waters twice, never brought us menus, napkins or silverware (we got up and asked at the bar), didn't take our order correctly the first time and still forgot several items, which we had to ultimately get up and ask for. We try to be understanding, but when one thing after another went wrong, it was very frustrating. The bartender was experienced, friendly and helpful, but couldn't cover the bar and tables by himself, so we agree with the previous review that taking up half of the already small space with a bar and switching to table service doesn't make sense. Our house salad was okay, but the chicken was cold, plain sliced (vs. warm and/or grilled) when it finally came after it was forgotten. The dough doughs (garlic rolls) were the best part, which thank goodness we ordered since the rest of the food didn't come for another 45 minutes or so. The pizza was good, not great. The roasted garlic was not roasted cloves, but essentially canned minced garlic. The pizzas were also not cooked consistently, one was over well with the crust slightly burned while others were a bit undercooked when they would have tasted better more crusty. The bartender and waitress did apologize and comp a glass of wine and pizza slice that was forgotten. Bottom line, the place has potential, but they really need to make changes, including returning to counter service (or hire more experienced employees) and serving better ingredients like real grilled chicken and roasted garlic. Hopefully the new owners will make the necessary changes to improve the service and food to keep the restaurant open. It's always a shame to see a local favorite lose it's following and have to close. read more

We stopped in about 5:30 for dinner, there were a few other customers. The waiter/bartender was prompt and courteous and took our order. A medium cheese pie with a beer and coke. Drinks came right up and it was about a 15 minute wait for the pie but it waswell worth it. Great NY style pizza. Thons crispy crust with a flavorful tomato sauce and an adequate amount of cheese. I'll take an adequate amount of good cheese over a pile of greasy mozzarella blend any day. I would have given it a 5 starting but the sewer gas smell was a real bummer. It wasn't from their bathroom, it was coming up from somewhere in the building. read more

Perhaps the worst experience I have ever had at a pizza place. I would leave 0 stars if possible. To be clear, I am a food service professionel with over 15 years managerial experience. Server was great. But the Owner needs to get a new line of work. Too bad Jon Taffer doesn't save pizza places. Beer was flat. Spaghetti and pizza took over an hour to come out. Told them before it arrived that I was done waiting and did not want it anymore. Owner starts arguing with me in front of his whole restaurant. So unprofessional and really sad. He was venting his anger at me because deep down knows he is in over his head and doesn't have any answers. I watched him auction off food to tables. So obviously zero systems in place. I wanted to pay for what we consumed. He took my card then charged me for the food I cancelled after over an hour. I will be disputing this. Do yourself a huge favor and stay far far away from this place. Pizza looked like crap too. read more

If I could give this place a extra 5 stars I totally would! The staff is so nice the pizza is to die for delicious. You can tell they care about the quality of their food and service they were very helpful and we and made sure we would have enough time to leave before the polar express train! Hands down best pizza in Durango!! Quick service pizza by the slice is half of a 12 inch pie anywhere else. Thin and crispy. Perfect!!

This place was recommended by the campground we were staying in while visiting Durango. The restaurant contracts with a delivery service (who you call to order), which added $8 to the price plus 20% tip, which brought the cost of our 18" pizza with 3 ingredients and 2 side salads to $50. So it's expensive, BUT very good. This is not a crispy crust pizza; you need a plate and fork or be careful using 2 hands. Very good taste, yummy crust, and we got two meals out of it. I'd buy it again. The delivery fee sounds steep, but due to our oversized vehicle (camping van) we could not have parked anywhere close to the restaurant anyway. This rating is solely on the food because the service was great. We went here because of the great ratings but everyone in our group did not like the pizza. The sauce is heavy seasoned and too much sauce made the dough soggy. This should not be called NY style. Maybe they say NY style because the size of the slice is as big as you would get in NY. The cheese dough balls were ok but the cheese was not melted all the way through - a bit cold. read more

Why more places don't do pizza by the slice I will never understand. Thankfully, Father's Daughter's not only has a jumbo slice, but it is a fresh and flavorful slice not to mention it is a local joint. They are alway friendly and fast when I stop in. I love that their prices are all tax included so I know exactly what the total will be and it is usual an even amount to make paying a breeze. Father's Daughter's is so good that I have to keep myself from eating there every day. Try it, you will see. read more

Good hearty red sauce, huge slices and excellent cheesy bread. We are certainly fat and happy but perhaps a tad thirsty. Not so much on the refills and not really for the wine lovers dream spot. So have a pregame cocktail and come enjoy some good pizza. read more

Very fast and friendly service! We are here at the recommendation of a local we met perusing downtown. Good pizza for the price, especially for the portion!! Father's Daughter's has to have some of the best pizza in the world! We have eaten pizza from Italy to Hong Kong and all around the US. We had a thin crust 14" pizza with sausage, mushrooms and black olives. Crust was perfectly crunchy, extremely thin, and so tasty. Sauce, toppings, and cheese were in perfect proportions to make the perfect pie. This is the place to go if you are in the mood for a pizza and beer!! Service was fast, efficient, and friendly. So delicious! I'm a Chicagoan and I'm extremely critical of pizza. But this place did not disappoint! Really recommend this place to anyone interested in having some great pizza. We stumbled across this place on our way through about two years ago, so when we decided to visit Durango again it made our list of stops. We remembered the food being really good so we didn't even hesitate. We have three kids so we ordered the 26" pizza like last time, really more for the novelty. Five minutes after ordering, the manager/waitress came out and said that the cook was "refusing to make a 26" pie because it would take up oven space and they would be down 8 single slices". She offered us two 18" pizzas for the same price instead. Ok, fine, but they aren't even that busy. And everyone here are families ordering whole pizzas. Since when does an employee get to "refuse" to make something that is offered on the menu because they feel it inconveniences them??? read more

How can you charge $24 for four slices of pizza with one topping each and charge the same amount for a whole pie with 8 slices and one topping? After waiting twenty minutes on reheated pizza the toppings were still cold and there was no cheese to hold the toppings on the pizza. I felt like I was eating a messy taco. read more

Placed an order for a meatball sandwich and and a chicken sandwich. Sat and waited for about ten minutes they brought over my meatball sandwich but not the chicken sandwich for my boyfriend. When we asked about his sandwich they informed that they were actually out out of chicken so they just didn't make the sandwich without informing us so we didn't have the chance to order something else. I asked if we there was at least a slice of pizza that was available now so my boyfriend could eat something, the owner rudely responded to me "yes if you would just stop talking and complaining at me for one second I could get you what you need!" I was so shocked at her unexpected rudeness after they had messed up our order, I was expecting an apology and not be snapped at. To make matters worse when out pizza was ready it was delivered to our table with the words "slice of pepperoni for the grumpy couple" the biggest bummer is the food was good! As much as I wish there was a perfect NY style thin-crust pizza here in Durango, there just isn't. This place totally lacks consistency-probably different people are working here all the time, students coming and going etc. The cheese AND the toppings never even come close to where the crust starts and I don't care for dry crust so that's a waste. I was here a couple months ago & the calzone was fantastic, however this time here it was awful! The calzone was burnt & hardly any toppings! And to add, our waitress told us it came with 4 toppings & we get our receipt & are charged for 4 toppings! Our waitress doesn't honor what she told us initially, so we pay the bill & walk out. Worst place I've ever visited, I'll never go there again. Oh yeah...& they charge $15 bucks JUST for the bread & cheese on the calzone!!! Definitely NOT a $20 pizza!! My family of four waited 35 minutes for service. We were starving. We were not even offered drinks. We even went to the counter to place our order and the host said to wait for the waiter. This little gem is kinda hidden, but well worth the find. We arrived mid afternoon from Arkansas. We just wanted quick pizza delivery. They no longer deliver but it wasn't far from our hotel so we decided to give them a try anyway. I'm so glad we did. We had a veggie pizza that was delicious! Made to order.
