Pizza pizza!! I…read morelove pizza. I am not from around here but I think you cant go wrong with a mom n pop pizza shop. This place did not let me down! Got 2 large pizzas and that fed 8 people with left overs! The BBQ chicken pizza is what I really liked. The slices are a good size. I wanted to eat more cuz it was so good but I to full. The jalapeño poppers came out and tasted like exactly what you think in your head when you think about jalapeño poppers. The wings had a good texture and taste. I didn't ask how they were cooked but I got the sense they were grilled. Which gives them a unique flavor that I happen to love. Overall it was a good experience and the food was very good. Next time I come out here I'll definitely be going back to AJ's!

I am also looking forward to their acquisition of a liquor license (in the works) to pair their awesome pizzas with some good brew. Order taking was also a delight as the owner is very friendly and charming. Food came out pretty quickly with outstanding service. If you haven't been here, YOU'RE MISSING OUT!

When I got there I saw they had peach cobbler on the menu, so I asked for it to be added to the order. The brought out the pizza right away, but it took nearly 30 min to get the peach cobbler. I had to ask to see if they could get it out earlier since I had a to go order and they did. Everyone was super friendly about it. The Hawaiian pizza was supposed to have prosciutto on it, but it looked more like thin sliced ham. And it had raw jalapenos, not pickled. Super spicy! The cobbler was great. Kinda wish they put the ice cream in a separate container cause I had to eat it before my pizza so it wouldn't melt and also stay warm. The cobbler was more like a scone on top of hot peaches, but I enjoyed it! Also attached some updated menu since their website is out of date They had live music, but it was sounding just okay .. kinda glad we ordered it to go

The service tonight was slow and awful, while the bartender is nice, when they come out and announce the people sitting at the bar "if you ordered food, sorry for waiting but Edgar cooks when he feels like it". And also "I'm scared to go back and check on your order" or "if I complain too much he walks out" It's not a great thing to experience. And then complains to the customer about it. Also had another bartender come in after seeing him take several shots and then work behind the bar and admit he has several shots and likes working like that. Which is a safety hazard. This visit made me feel really uncomfortable and sounds like if you come in, you might get a night where people don't want to work.

Not only is the staff amazing, the owners - Rob and Karen, are among the nicest people who have opened their restaurant to many fundraisers for locals when in need. The food is always fast, excellent and the beer is the coldest you will find anywhere in the area. Great live music on weekends. Bike rally's and flat screen tv's all over the place showing the latest sporting event. A couple of warm stoves and fireplaces make this a really cozy place in colder weather and the expansive decks are great for drinks and dining as well. As a long time Vallecito resident, I am really glad they are here. We love the Hideaway - where there are no strangers, just friends you haven't met yet!
