We are staying at Bear Paw Lodge in Vallecito, Colorado and decided to visit Lemon Lake then check out Bayfield looking for dinner. Went in to the Grocery store then noticed AJ's and decided pizza would be great. We ordered a Supreme pizza. It was huge, slices were big & crust was thin. It was really loaded. It was really amazing! The owner was nice and friendly. We really enjoyed it & will be back when we come back to Colorado. Thanks for a yummy pizza!!! read more

Their Alfredo pizza is so delicious. Sometimes they can be a bit slow but if you call ahead, it's literally no big deal.

Yum! Though the gi-normous pizza slices ($5! What a deal!) looked right-out-of-the-oven delicious, we opted for meatball and turkey bacon sandwiches. The turkey bacon was fresh, loaded with all ingredients (including field greens) and custom made with jalapeño. Just right. The meatballs were spicy and tasted home made. It includes melty mozzarella cheese, red onions (again, just the right amount for flavor and texture but not to overwhelm) and flavorful marinara on the side. Both sandwiches were on delicious, firm on the outside and soft on the inside, fresh-tasting flatbread and were generous enough for two meals. Side salad was also generous enough to split and again, fresh and loaded with crunchy, tasty croutons. The mom and pop type store (our favorite type) had a rush of business just after we ordered but it did not negatively affect our order in any way. We also got hand-scooped ice cream (again, generous portions) which we have yet to indulge in. Highly recommend this business for tourists and home towers alike. read more

Pizza pizza!! I love pizza. I am not from around here but I think you cant go wrong with a mom n pop pizza shop. This place did not let me down! Got 2 large pizzas and that fed 8 people with left overs! The BBQ chicken pizza is what I really liked. The slices are a good size. I wanted to eat more cuz it was so good but I to full. The jalapeño poppers came out and tasted like exactly what you think in your head when you think about jalapeño poppers. The wings had a good texture and taste. I didn't ask how they were cooked but I got the sense they were grilled. Which gives them a unique flavor that I happen to love. Overall it was a good experience and the food was very good. Next time I come out here I'll definitely be going back to AJ's! read more

Ordered 2 pizzas from this place !! While ordering the girl was asking whoever about things I asked for!! Very unprofessional!!! I had feeling I should have just hung up and gone somewhere else!! But I wanted to give a try !! Well I can say I tried but won't be back!! The frozen pizzas taste better than these pizza!! Greasy !!!! Had to take paper towels and pat the grease off tops!!! Unprofessional. I called for a pick up order and was told it would be an hour wait that they were very busy. No problem. When I showed up an hour later there were several employees chillin'. There was a woman on the house phone dropping f bombs and yelling into the phone telling the person on the other end that they would have to speak louder because it was noisy. She was the only one making a bunch of racket. There was one person ahead of me who had his order screwed up. My order was brought out and they told me their credit card machine was down and they just wanted to write my card number down and process it at another time. Not a fan of that. The food was subpar. It was cold. Next time I'll take my business to the Picadilly. I get better service and quality of food at the gas station. read more

Baked wings that taste great, yes please! It's an average pizza joint but the quality is more that you would expect in such a small town. In NYC this would be two stars at best. But in Bayfield I give it four. Edit: The pizza still is really good but the wings are way to salty. Not sure if it was a fluke but seriously they need to dial down the salt in their wings. read more

Even bad pizza is ok pizza. This place is only still in business because of their location next to the sports fields and they're the only pizza place in town. If your desperate, fine. Otherwise a frozen pizza is of the same quality. read more

Got evacuated from the 415 fire, we were looking for some fast food in Bayfield enroute to a temp. house in Pagosa. We had not eaten in days. Showed up at AJ's at 12:30 pm on Saturday, 6/9. There was no pizza cooking, there was not a trace of food behind the counter. I asked for a menu. I was told menus were not available by a girl that looked like she had not showered for weeks. The 3 young kids behind the counter could have cared less, they looked dirty, broken skin, were they employees? Very very sketchy. By the looks of the joint, I can't imagine how they pass kitchen inspections. A horrible showing. Will never ever stop there again, ever! From the menu taped to the counter, the prices are crazy high and for what? Totally unprofessional, and terribly managed. Pine Cone has great burgers, they have a staff, very friendly and clean! When you see AJ's Pizza, drive on by for your health, appetite and wallet. read more

The prices are way to high and had to wait for a hour just to pick up 3 calzones and then the wings got burnt and had to be remade .

Stopped in after a long day's drive. Ordered ahead and picked up, and it was worth it. Pizza was excellent, and the slush machine pumped out a couple of awesome tropical punch slushes! Aj's Pizza is a small family owned pizza restaurant in Bayfield, Colorado. It features it's city-famous pizza, and many other items. The pizza is absolutely delicious, having a taste like no other. The service is great, and the employees are very nice. It features three different classic arcade games, including Frogger and Pacman. Every table features a fun and exiting Checkers board with pieces beneath the glass where one can play checkers with a friend or family member while they wait. Also under the table there is many notes and letters from locals or visitors about the restaurant. It is always entertaining to read what other people think about Aj's. Back to the food, not only is the pizza good, but so is everything else. The ice cream is delicious and memorable, the wings are nice and spicy with great flavor, their salads are very expansive and includes delicious toppings. They also have many sandwiches that will make you have a new usual at Aj's. My personal favorite is the Meatball Sub, full of delicious meatballs, grilled onions, and melted cheese. The only place in Bayfield to sit down and have a pizza. Pizza is very thin with very little cheese etc on them. Cheap, basic and nothing special. Go there for something to do and so kids can play video games. place could put a little more into making better pizzas. Gas station has better tasting and thicker crusts. read more
