Within 5 minutes and before I got to a table, I was telling my wife they must be under new ownership. Receiving the food and taking a bite prompted us to take to Google and confirmed it. I have never thrown away food at Fat Cow, however I threw away two orders of fat japs (minus two half eaten ones that the wife and took a single bite out of) and 2/3 of my brisket taco plate. Condiments bar was just brine in containers with no pickles, jalapenos etc, brisket was dry, bacon on fat japs was cold grease coated and sickly looking, meat inside jalapenos was like shredded jerky. Had never before walked out of there smelling like dirty barbecue before, but we definitely could smell it in our clothes the rest of the night. Disapointment After Ownership Change My family and I have been going to Fat Cow for several years. We loved the friendly atmosphere, excellent service and great food. We decided to try it after the new owners took over. While the atmosphere was still welcoming and friendly, we noticed some changes in the food that made me miss the old days. The sausage was a big letdown which looked like a shriveled up hot dog. The mac and cheese had no flavor and did not have enough sauce. The potato salad and coleslaw were not as good as they had been in the past. Disappointed since ownership change. I've given the new owners 3-4 chances weeks apart. The Mac and cheese is kind of the same but less seasoned. Green beans are out of the can and taste bad. Corn is unseasoned. Meat is greasier with less smoke flavor. Found cartridge in slider. The buns are not as soft and often comes soaked in grease making it soggy. Please at least add pepper to some of the sides or something. It's just disappointing after coming so often before new owners. read more

Similar to my initial visit, I ordered the Half Rack plate. Unfortunately, the ribs were not as good as my previous visit. Although it was two years ago, I recall how I enjoyed the dry rub on their ribs. I knew something was off when I did not taste as much as the rub. From the photos, the dry rub was clearly visible on the ribs from 2021. Rather than evidence of the dry rub, the ribs from my recent visit has burnt marks. The baked beans and potato salad were awesome. If I had ordered any other sides, I may not have finished either of them and had room for dessert. read more

Knew I'd be walking miles at work and ordered early in the AM through Foodsby for delivery at lunch. Genius idea! Way to go Ray! Ordered the 2 meat plate with baby back ribs, sliced brisket, cole slaw and potato salad. For dessert it was the peach cobbler. I finished the first 2.4 miles of walking the facility and was more than hungry when the order arrived. It was well packed and the order was correct. It was quite warm as I received it! As I opened the container and foil wrapping for the meat, I was not thrilled with the appearance. Looked overdone. The rib bones slid out with no effort and rib meat was dark red on outside to gray in middle. The brisket was tender, fat on the outside but quite gray with very little smoke ring. The smoky aroma was quite good. Good flavor on both. The rub from the ribs was a bit on the strong black peppery side for me, but I'm sure others would love it! The sweet sauce provided was definitely sweet. Both meats were moist but the overdone brisket was somewhat dry on the tongue and had to use a lot of the sauce. The ribs were quite moist and the sweet sauce help take some of the peppery bite from the ribs. The cole slaw was very sweet and one of the better I've had. It went very well with the meat! The star of the meal was the red potato salad. Potatoes were perfect tenderness, great earthy flavor and the red skin added some color. While the peach cobbler looked fantastic in the container (nice dark brown crust), upon dipping the spoon into it, it was, well, gross. The crust was mushy, and the peaches had an interesting texture, almost dry. The flavor was pretty good, but the texture was really odd. Of my many decades of eating peach cobbler, this will be memorable due to the mushy crust and the odd appearance of the peaches. Overall, it was an okay meal, with the potato salad and cole slaw carrying the stars and I was very hungry. I wonder if the meat being over done might have been from the method used to keep it warm. This is going to sound like I was paid to write this, but I assure you, I wasn't. We're visiting from Chicago and we asked what's the best BBQ in Texas. We were told to come here, and this place did not disappoint. I've now had Kansas City, Memphis, and Texas BBQ, and I can say this is the best. I got the chopped brisket with baked beans and cole slaw. This meat melts in your mouth. And the sauce is amazing. I also was told to get a taco, so I got that on the side. This paired well with spicy BBQ sauce. I also had a bacon-wrapped jalapeño stuffed with pulled pork and cheese dipped in their homemade ranch. Holy (fat) cow that was delicious? Another delight was their watermelon sweet tea. I would recommend this place to people living here, visiting here, or driving through the area. I would even recommend Fat Cow to people nowhere near the Dallas area. Lastly, the service was top notch. We were late picking up our catering order due to a company event. The voicemail that the owner left me was so unprofessional. When we arrived we were cussed at by the owner and called a bitch. My manager was in tears when she left. I have never been so upset about how unprofessional customer service and how straight RUDE the owner is. When I went to pick up the second half of our order that we already paid for. The wife was so quiet and she did apologize and said she didn't know really what happened. That doesn't fix anything.
