As I sat there, I realized it is called "Mission Coffee" for a reason: everything sold at the café supports the Visalia Rescue Mission. There were signs showing the number of meals and showers they have provided. I didn't get to the bakery until late mid morning and most everything was gone, with 2nd batches in the oven. I bought a couple of rounds of sweet bread, and the sweet bread here is amazing. It's just like my late grandmother's recipe. On my second visit, I ordered a mista sandwich and a couple of pastel de natas (and more sweet bread). The sandwich and tarts were divine! I was so happy that I stopped by again. I don't drive up north as much these days, but this bakery is a 45 min drive, and I plan on going again soon.
