The selection of foood is NOT the problem, the problem is the management. i do notice sometimes the fridges are out and need repairs, expired or rotten food is sometimes a occurrence. the real issue is management. there is no leeway, the employees need to be treated better. and the environment or vibe literally feels hostile. and i have been shopping there enough times to narrow it down to two people it could be responsible for all of these issues, and HER name is Margurita and Margurita. i have asked several times for assistance and she in particular is a nightmare of a person to deal with. i hope this finds someone of use, and like i said that store needs a vibe change, i have told my family and friends not to shop there because she makes it feel again, through ambience that it is nightmare of a person to workfor and therefore a workplace. people want leaders not bosses. read more

The item Rice Crispy Treats was ringing up the regular price $12.99. Someone had to do a price check and tell her to change the $12.99 price to $8.99 on sale price. This place has come a long way. Used to be that you could only pick up bulk items way beyond your everyday needs- but now they have remodel this particular store into what you might refer to as a full fledged grocery store. Now you can't get everything you could from a save mart, but they are still your go to spot for bulk supplies in addition to standard household amenities. I mean you can find things like deodorant and shaving cream now. Other additions include cold beer and a vast array of wines and spirits. You can also buy 35lb pork shoulder or 10lb of bacon. I live close and do all my shopping exclusively there. This store could score 5 stars, but because a large portion of their staff has no personality, I give it 4. Check it out! I love shopping at Smart & Final to pick up paper and plastic goods; okay, let's get real, I buy containers and tops (and sometimes liquor) for making jello shots. I also buy various flavors of Torani syrups at a significant discount. They are good for flavoring coffee, sodas, tea, smoothies, and even over fruit salad. I don't usually purchase food items here as I don't like the fact that you usually have to purchase items in such large quantities. This particular Smart & Final has a much larger and nicer produce section than the ones I've been to back home in Bakersfield, and seemed to have quite a few food items in more reasonably sized containers. I may just have to visit my local stores to see if they've been upgraded to match this store. Smart and Final carries food (fresh, frozen, and canned), produce, meat, liquor, baked goods, janitorial supplies, many types of packaging (plates, cups, utensils, take-out containers) and don't forget everything you need to make jello shots! read more

I love shopping at Smart and Final but I won't be returning to the Center St. location. This store has gotten dirtier and needs an update. The cashier working today was Brad L and he was very unprofessional. He had me standing there while he sat on the phone and didn't acknowledge me in the slightest. He was more occupied with what was going on over the phone than the customer standing in front of him. He spoke one phrase to me - asking if I needed a bag - but didn't wait to hear my response before he began talking to a coworker. He scanned my items and handed me my receipt without another word. Brad needs some customer service training and also to learn how to multitask without making his customers feel like they are inconveniencing him. read more

Very rude customer service! They treat you like you're asking for a free stuff when you just ask them for a help finding items you need.

Miranda the cashier is one of the rudest people i have encountered. She made me leave the express lane of 10 items or less. I had 8 items. Next custome came to her line with 12 items. The customer told her that she has more than 10 items. Miranda said "oh it's fine". I lost it. Me being at the next register asked her why she allowed that. She responded by rolling her eyes at me and saying it's fine. I think i need to call a manager. I buy all my supplies there for my business. 400.00 on a monthly average. Costco may get my business. Smart and Final is by far my favorite store to shop at in Visalia. I am a frequent customer at the Mooney and Center locations. The other day I was at the Center location and I was in a hurry. I was walking to an aisle to grab a product only to find it not being on the shelf. As I walked to find an associate I came across Cameron in the produce area. I asked him if he had what I was looking for In the back he politely greeted me and went to check for me. As we were walking to he asked me how my day was going and if there was going to be anything else he could help me with. After he found what I was looking for he thanked me for shopping at Smart and Final and told me to have a great day. Not only did he have great customer service but he also seems to be a hard worker and a great cashier. This guy gave me great customer service all around!!! I used to love going to Smart and Final until today. We were waiting in line and the cashier was very friendly with the people in front of us telling them about all the great savings they could get by purchasing other stuff. The cashier waited for them to go and get more items while people were in line. As we were paying we asked to see if they had some items because the items were not stocked. I told the cashier to go ahead and cash us out as we waited to see if the items were in stock and she rudely said yes that's was I was going to do. Long story short we got back in line to check out and we got the wrong item for an extra savings and she just said come back tomorrow and see if we have it in stock because we don't( I went back to get the item, it's in stock). This cashier was able to wait for other customers and go get the items but she tells us no. I don't easily get mad but this cashier was rude! Oh and her name was Brenda. Rude rude rude. read more
