Came in to get a bike for my son. Someone was there in the back but never came out. We weren't greeted, or said he'll be right with us, nothing. Took my classic Cult bmx rear rim which is left hand drive as the sprocket was spinning both ways...they rebuilt the hub and had it ready for pickup later the same day! A great bike shop in SJ -- they are great about COVID restrictions and only let one customer into the store at a time. The servicing is affordable and quick, and the staff is really nice and helpful. I came in with a flat tire due to puncture, and was able to swing back in an hour or so to pick up my bike. Solid shop, I came in to get a new crank installed, they had a quick turnaround and they weren't a ripoff so I gave them a chance. I got wonderful service, the head guy (owner maybe?) told me everything on my bike was loose, so they went through and torqued everything for free, and they also trimmed my cables because he said he couldn't look at how much extra cable I had so he tidied it up at no cost. I am very disappointed and weirded out by this small bicycle shop. My teenage son wanted to do a bike build project and so he took apart his bike and we went here for new parts. At our first visit to this store, I felt the sales guy was a little weird and sarcastic (almost rude), but we brushed it off and moved on with our day as we were there to buy parts for our project. I bought about 10 different parts here for his bike project including 2 new tire tubes on 8/10/24. While pumping air into one of the tubes we discovered it was leaking air, so I told my son to put it aside so we could go exchange. We went back to the store on 8/17/24 (the receipt says we will gladly exchange parts up to 7 days and I was within this timeframe). I sent my son into the store alone with the receipt to trade it thinking it would be easy to exchange this $9.99 tube. The guy was soooo rude, he accused my son of damaging it and said those parts never come damaged so he would not exchange it. I went in to talk to him and after realizing how rude he was being to my son I was not happy. I dont know why we would spend about $140 on 10 items and waste our time returning one $10 item if it was our fault. I was just trying to exchange he said no and was EXTREMELY RUDE. I said we were going to buy 2 new bikes from here (which we were going to) at about $3500 total - he said "You do not need to buy anything" to which I replied "well of course we are not going to anymore" then he proceeds to tell me he has been working there 40 years and what not... I dont know why he was telling me this I never asked him how long he has been there or anything. There was other people in the store too just hearing the argument - how uncomfortable and unprofessional! I was just there to exchange a faulty tube not for arguing or to hear about his life. He also tried to sell us a patch kit for $5 when this tube is $10. He says the factory doesnt have defaults and I dont know what else. The guy was extremely rude to my son and me. So much for supporting local shops vs larger stores... So much for encouraging teens to work on projects to learn. My son and I went in there with manners and every intention on just exchanging this faulty $10 part. This guy was so rude and should really learn some manners. He said the owner would not be happy if he exchanged this part for us. He also made it clear he didnt want our business - which is great since he obviously will not be getting it. Do not shop here - they will not exchange their faulty parts and the customer service is horrible. The guy was extremely rude and unprofessional. Someone should have taught him manners at some point of his life. My son is too nice to say anything - but I really felt this review was necessary to write. What horrible customer service - and all for a $10 tube, I would hate to have them do same on any other purchase (especially expensive things). read more

Whoever I spoke to over the phone sounded like they had more customer service than this guy who seemed like he didn't even want to say hello and give me a run down about the bikes I wanted to look at. PEOPLE WONT SPEND THEIR MONEY WITH YOU IF YOU ARE NOT NICE TO THEM!! I walk in and wasn't greeted at all. Then when I make myself known (been walking around 5 minutes as a free person is sitting on the computer) the free person takes over to talk to me. He spoke to me as if I was a child. They have another latino staff member who could have helped but I guess he only helps Spanish speaking customers. Over the phone I was told they only have 2019 big rippers and flyers and that the price would be $650. Ok fine I'll get a newer version of the bike not a problem but when I come into your shop and you price the 2018 at $600 and say, with an cocky attitude, that I'm the cheapest to put it together... that's when your wrong!! There is no way you can really believe that. Prices are not on all bikes which I think might be his way of getting over on people. Especially during the holidays. I thought this place would try to beat or at least match prices (what I gathered from yelp reviews) and yet he stood tall on the price and confidence of being the cheapest guy to put bikes together. I wouldn't take my bike here for services either. Read the reviews. For my fellow yelpers or searchers please PLEASE go to BICYCLE EXPRESS !! Much better service, better prices, they don't charge for warranty for a year, discounts on accessories when you make a big purchase. Sweetest coworker with a beard. The shop isn't too fancy and what they have in stock isn't much but everything else makes up for it. Ps. If your still reading I spent $699 for a d block flyer at Bicycle Express. Didn't want to spend that much but when you get talked down to and then u get to a place down the street with that talk to you like your a paying customer you then get business. read more

I'm sure this is a decent bike shop and they know a lot about bikes, but the experience I had was an unpleasant and uncomfortable one. The manager mentioned he was unfamiliar with women's bodies referring to bike fitting- then the interaction went downhill from there. At one point I asked him why he was showing me a bike he knew that wasn't going to fit me, he responded with "I'm trying to educate you" (mansplaining much?) then went on to boast about his 30 years of experience. I can tell he's passionate about his business and wasn't trying to be argumentative, however he came off very patronizing which led me to write this review. I hope this feedback will lead to improving their customer experience for new customers in the future. read more

WARNING! Don't go to this place! I walked in and IN LESS THAN SIX MINUTES had bought a bike. I went in looking for a specific type of bike. They told me that was an older model and showed me the upgraded newer one for $20 more I think. Sold. They didn't have my size on the show floor but they had one in the back. Took a couple hours to get it built. When I picked it up, it was glorious. They mentioned their six month policy of taking it back within six months for a free servicing. Nice. I brought in hubs and rims in to be built. Needed new spokes and lacing. When put on the bike Wheels weren't true or centered correctly. Brought back a second time and still hadn't been corrected. I spoke to to Tom the owner comes off asa nice guy until There is a problem or they make a mistake. Tries to belittle you in feeling dumb. He asked that I bring them in a third time..won't be happening !!!! If want things done right the first time don't go to a shop that needs 3 attempts to get it right. $$$$ read more

I purchased an electric bike from them and when I received the E bike did not come with a key to remove battery or any type of owners manual and had an error from the beginning of purchase. I was able to drive it for a couple days and was able to ride about over 100 miles. When the same error that had occurred before popped back up and permanently stayed had to Drop back off the bike due to failure of a throttle and owner told me that it was my fault for failure of throttle because I drove the bike too far and that the bike is a toy and should be treated like a toy and never gave me any type of warning that there should've been limitations on driving the bike, and that it would break down due to mileage and establishment also never mentioned when purchasing E bike that it was a toy and I should treat it like a toy and his response also was that consumers are stupid when buying e-bikes from his company buyers beware by the way, all these comments wore from the owner, Tom his self and not to mention, the bike was scratched up. Bolts were falling out as I was driving it very poorly put together. please beware when purchasing from the store, considering owner considers his product toys oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention beware that he says it's normal to sell, scratched up specialized and products that is how it comes from the manufacturers so if you want scratched up faulty product, this is the place to go read more

Great customer service from Ricardo. Recently took up cycling as a hobby so I went in for a reasonably priced bike... he showed me a good option that fit my price range , adjusted it for my height and had my try it outside the shop... didn't try to up sell or convince me to buy something expensive. He then got the bike rack for me, set it up in the back of my car, and had me do it myself afterwards so I can learn to put on and take off. I want to shout out to Ricardo and the staff at Fast Bicycle. AWESOME SERVICE! Left Santa Rosa on a biz trip to Bakersfield and brought my CX bike with mountain pedals. ARGH, I brought my road shoes (wrong cleat / pedal combo) ;- I I called a couple of local bike shops and $150 Shimano 105 answers just so I could ride Nacimiement Furgusson road was not the answer I was hoping to hear. I got a hold of Ricardo (while driving) and he said, "I've got some low cost pedals and they come with cleat". I pealed off the hwy. Jumped into Fast Bicycle, I hadn't even paid and Ricardo had switched my pedals while I changed the cleat from Shimano to who knows what and I was off to do my ride, which btw I strongly recommend. Amazingly beautiful. Wait, there's more, I get to the spot where I was starting and realized I'd left my backpack with my helmet in their store. 5:30PM and very little time to do the ride so I crossed myself and went old school, no helmet, just like the 80s! The next day after my Bakersfield meeting I phoned the shop and they said, yup we've got your back pack safe and sound! I dropped in later that day and retrieved it along with a cool black shop tee with a white logo. I worked at shops in my 20s and we use to try and knock out the roadside type repairs right then and there. Ricardo and shop you guys may have some old-school values, but, PLEASE don't change. I walk up to the counter, and the guy behind it looks at me, then turns around and goes into the repair shop to resume his work. While he's working, he glances at me a couple times with one of those "what does this guy want?" look on his face. Feeling awkward as it is, I decide I'm gonna have to say something to get helped... Me: Hi Him: Yea? Me: I'm having trouble putting my disc brake wheel back onto the fork, how much would you charge? (its a rather simple job, but I'm afraid to do it myself for fear of breaking something) Him: Fifteen bucks (a bit pricey, but I was semi-desperate) Me: Oh, about how long would... Him: End of the day. Oh-kay Mr. Cool guy. I promptly walked outta there and went to the next closest shop, Bicycle Express. They put the wheel back on for 5 bucks and did it in a matter of minutes. What the...? How can you be so unfriendly to a customer? One of the younger looking employees was extremely unhelpful to me. I asked him how to use a u-lock and he didn't bother to show me. He just said you put the key in. WOW. And he acted like he didn't want to bother to talk to me, like it was a real pain. I asked him how he suggested that you would lock a bike, and he didn't show me and barely explained it to me. I was pretty desperate for a good lock because I was almost going off to college where bike theft is very common so I just bought the darn lock and politely said "Thank you" and he did not say a word. I am never coming back to this sh**hole. I saw an older looking employee and he was pretty mean to this other customer too. read more

Bikers BEWARE!! First, Tom the manger is not friendly at all. I took my new road bike here to get it put together after it arrived in the mail. I thought this store was a good quality store, however i was so wrong. After i took my bike it first ride. The left pedal fell off. It appears that they did not tight the left pedal correctly. So i took it back to them a to have it put on correctly. They did, however 6 months later the same pedal fell off when i was riding my bike to a final for school.!!! That was not only the bad part, when I took a closer look at the crank arm, it was striped. Now i gotta get a new crank arm. These guys did a really poor job of putting my bike together and it gonna end up costing me another crank harm. Bikers Beware.!! if you going to get your bike service TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! There aren't many bike shops in the San jose milpitas borders so this was the closest to work. I am noob when it comes to bikes and especially road bikes which has been my new activity. I was comparing many of the prices to online prices and they were pretty much at the same ball park. This particular visit I needed a tube and tire put on my wheel. The cost for the colored tire was $25 the tube $6 and the labor to put it on was $3. I think that the customer service and info was just okay nothing too friendly or informative. You get in and you get out. SO thats why my review was just 3 stars. read more
