Unfortunately, my experience at this particular location has been nothing short of disappointing. I brought in my uniform on a Monday evening and was initially told it would be ready on July 4th. Recognizing that the holiday might affect the schedule, I confirmed and was then told it would be ready on Monday, July 8th. When I returned to pick up my uniform at 4:00 pm, I was informed I should come back at 5:30 pm because "the guy" had not yet dropped off the clothing. I returned again at 6:11 pm--just before the store closed at 6:30 pm--only to be told my uniform was not ready and that I should pick it up the next day, Tuesday, July 8th. I brought in a pair pants and a pair of patchwork jeans jorts. Nothing overly complicated for an experienced alteration. I'd had them alter 8-9 pieces in the past. But this time I barely get in the door and he (owner) lets me know he is just too busy to alter a pair of slacks in the waist and these jeans jorts. His body language and tone surprised me. I wasn't in a hurry to get them altered so I asked him what was the estimated time. That would have been a great question to ask me...patience I have... He says mid October and I say that's fine. What bothered me is he asked me to enter the dressing room and try on the item I needed altered. He gets a woman to come back. She's great! I overheard him telling her that it was too difficult but the lady is pinning me and quite good. He enters the alteration area with comments that clearly let both of us know he doesn't want her to do the job...maybe he is overwhelmed with a heavy workload. He says to me it's not worth the cost to alter the jorts. I state again I am willing to pay for the work done. Do you know he sat 100.00 dollar? I thought before I try on the slacks I'm going to leave and never enter this business again. He may not be aware of his unprofessional attitude and behavior but I hope he understands it's not the money... it's the professionalism and courteous manner he's sadly lacking. Quality is great. Service requested deserves a zero. But out of respect for Natale I'll give 1 star.

It's hit or miss with this cleaners. Sometimes my clothes SEEM cleaned and others times, it's is clear they simply pressed them without cleaning. Pressing is also hit or miss. When a redo is requested, the garment returns looking as if nothing was done. And, the clothes never smell "clean." They either don't have a smell or a slight scent of a cleaner used to mask an uncleaned garment.

Earlier this month, I had 5 pairs of pants hemmed. When I tried them on at home (after the…read morealterations), all five pairs of pants were too long and were dragging on the ground. I wore them with the exact shoes they were measured with and I did not wash or wear any of the pants. I brought all five pants back in the store and spoke with the owner directly, telling her that all five pants were too long and they were dragging on the ground. I asked if I could try them on and show her. She said that if the pants were too long, then it must be because I wanted them to be long. I said, "No, you have hemmed many of my pants and you know I do not like them that long." I asked again if I could try them on and show her. She said "No, it doesn't matter. I don't make mistakes. YOU must be the problem." She refused to even look at the pants, so I left. BEWARE! I have taken my alterations to Shockoe Bottom Cleaners with a total of ~15 pairs of pants to be hemmed over the past 18 months. I chose them because they are close to work. I have never had a problem with them prior to this week - they are usually very nice, as I am a regular. I feel a true measure of a store's integrity is how they view customer service and if/how they try to please their customer. I am a regular (they know me by face) and they still refused to treat me with respect. It is a shame because now they have lost me as a customer. (I cannot speak on behalf of their dry cleaning services, although they seem reliable.)
