The best in Austin! I took my clothes back to Cali for alterations for 5 years. Finally found Victoria! Shes the best!

Super expensive! I took a pair of my husband's pants in to have the cuff length shortened a tough and the waist brought in an inch. $78 dollars later... wow... wasn't prepared for that. Here's the deal, if I get things back in a timely manner and it's excellent work, I understand you need to pay for a quality product. But, I didn't get it back in a timely manner. She said it would be done on a certain date. I showed up on that date with the claim ticket and she said "no, they're not ready, did we call you?"...I said "no, it said this date on the ticket, so I thought that would be the date I needed to pick it up"..."no, we'll call or text. Does he need them today?"...I told her no and she said she would get them done soon and reach out when she was finished. Two weeks later, I still hadn't heard from her...I stopped by and she said "oh yes, they've been done a while, we didn't reach out?"..."nope"....and $78. I mean, for real?! It didn't look as nice as another place we'd gone that was a little further away from home, but we will definitely go to the other place. They are faster, neater, less expensive, and nicer. I saw some of the other photos and reviews...maybe they just have bigger more important things going on like wedding gowns and such, so maybe they're awesome for that stuff, but for something like a pair of pants...go elsewhere. read more

I dropped a jumpsuit off for the zipper to be fixed, came back on the day scheduled 2 weeks later and it wasn't done. They sewed it quickly as I waited. When they finished I realized they hadn't understood what was wrong with the zipper. So I had a bunch of random stitches in a garment of delicate material. There are so many other great alteration spots - definitely go elsewhere. read more

I had 2 pairs of pants hemmed and was really happy with the customer service, reasonable price and clean and attractive store with a well lit, large fitting room. Victoria was available the afternoon I called, was an expert in pinning my dress's hem and took in the sides and the top, removing and replacing flowers and lace flawlessly. She had my wedding dress done in 2 short weeks, and did an amazing job! I had a horrible experience before this one, where after 5 fittings, they managed to mess up my first dress leaving me panicked about finding another one month before the wedding. I'm so happy to have found Victoria and cannot recommend her enough! Alterations are pricey, but she was able to work with me and I'm so thankful. Victoria has expertly altered several important pieces of clothing for me in the past year. I have always been satisfied with the finished product, her explanation of the options in altering & the timely completion. The most recent project I brought to her was restoring my cousin's 2 antique Xmas tree skirts that were badly stained during our Memorial Day flood. Victoria did an amazing job removing & hand sewing intricate appliqué sequined patterns to the new skirt fabric. I'm extremely satisfied with this service! Victoria is a genius. I had a designer dress altered because the chest area almost had a defective design. Victoria immediately spotted the problem and came up with the cleverest idea for how to fix it. She also left some room in case it needed to be further taken out in the future. I'm very impressed! My husband also had a ripped leather jacket and we had been asking around at professional leather repair places and they made it sound like it was going to be a complicated fix that was going to show a lot. Victoria fixed it cheaply and perfectly, in a very simple way. I doubt anybody will notice the "scar". We were quoted a little bit lower than the final price but we were happy to pay it. Victoria and her team are saints! Get this....Thursday, with Good Friday approaching, I need a repair on a favorite jacket. I plan to fly on Sunday with this jacket. Victoria and her staff do good work, but her prices are very high. I had a bridesmaid dress altered here in May 2017, and all I had was the two straps tightened and taken in. It cost me $50. Another bridesmaid had the exact same work done at a high-end tailor in uptown Dallas, and it cost her $18. I confronted Victoria about this price difference, and she refunded me $13. Overall, I paid $37 to have a small alteration done. The alteration was done correctly, but just beware, you might have to challenge the prices! read more

I was referred to Fashion Alterations for my wedding dress by a coworker. The lady was super friendly, took measurements quickly, and 2 weeks later my dress fit me perfectly. I thought the price was fair (between 100 and 200), however my sister was charged almost the same for her bridesmaids dress even though it required way less alteration. Also, they didn't call me when my dress was done, I had to call them. Overall a pleasant experience though. read more

My parents have been coming here to get their alterations and tailoring for over 10 years. This is the only place I trust with my clothes. I had an awful experience at a wedding dress "specialist" in town--she wanted thousands of dollars to hem a simple dress and insulted my appearance! I'm so grateful for the experience I had at Fashion Alterations; they were so nice, did exactly what I wanted, charged me for one hour of work (well under $100), gave me a reasonable time estimate, and had my dress done earlier than expected. I have had them do work for me for a number of years and it has been consistently excellent and reasonably priced. They have done many small jobs like setting the hem in my slacks and replacing a zipper. The also replaced the lining in an old but very expensive suit and the replacement was as well done at the original. Today I got back my cashmere sweater that they had sown suede patches on its elbows and it is good for another ten years. read more

Avoid this place if you want your alterations delivered on time. Last Saturday Nov 12, I dropped off two pants that needed to be hemmed shorter. After being quoted $20 for each pant, I explained that I needed them by the following Saturday, to take on my Thanksgiving holiday travels. I agreed to the price only after I was reassured the pants would be ready in a week. Went in today, a week later, and the pants were not ready. When I showed them my ticket that had today's date for pick-up, I was told to wait for them to call me. It should be the other way around. Traveling on Monday, will have to look for a place to do a rush job when I land for my holiday pants. read more

I brought my dress here to be altered for the second time after the first alterations department at a different location completely ignored what I had asked for. Already nervous to have the dress re-altered I was greeted by Fashion Alterations by a sweet and attentive team. My experience from the get go just from walking in the door was already 10x better than the first. It took no time to fit me for my dress and the seamstress knew exactly what to recommend and suggest. It was ready in the exact amount of time I was told and was SO affordable. Almost makes me mad that I wasted money at the first place with how affordable it was. When I tell you this dress from hell (This wedding has been the worst) could not have looked any better, it can not! I wanted to cry with how beautiful and well fitted the dress was and it was exactly what I had asked for. Exactly what I needed. I have been altering my clothing for 30 years in multiple cities with multiple seamstresses. Being new to Austin, I tried this shop. They spent 15 minutes pinning 3 garments-a hemming of shorts, two blouses that needed shortening of the shoulders, and one button on a jacket sewed on. I was told to return in a week. I returned 8 days later to nothing accomplished. Then two days after this, someone calls to ask what I wanted done to my clothes. She said she had no idea what the pins inserted in the garments meant for her work-"Where is the lady who pinned my garments?" " She not here". When it was finally done, I had a friend pick up my clothing. It was $160!!! And the shorts were the same length as when I brought them in. That leaves one button sewed on and 2 seams each on two blouses for $160! I not only will never return, I feel this group of dubious seamstresses looted me!
