    Alcatra (roast pork)

We discovered this restaurant after some social media post. Located in Kailua with limited parking (2-3 stalls) at the restaurant. There are metered street parking available. We were pretty excited to try out the Portuguese food here since we were heading to Portugal. I am writing this after my trip to Portugal. Reservation is a must as spots are available one month out. Must be popular! The restaurant's ambiance and decoration felt so cozy and homie feeling. Service was excellent. We ordered a variety of dishes to try. Here are my thoughts about the dishes. - Linguica assada: sausage on fire, such an amazing presentation. Not much of a sausage eater, but my partner liked it. I thought it was a little bit salty. But not bad. - Cod fish potatoes croquette: I enjoyed this appetizer. Crispy and flavorful. Also quite filling. - Portuguese soup - a little on the salty side, but pretty good. -Vinha d alhos- shredded pork with a savory and vinegary taste. I liked it. - Alcatra (roast pork): shredded pork was so tender, flavorful too -Fisherman's stew: There was a savory and sour taste to the stew. I like that it came with a bread ( kind of like focaccia). Soo good dipped in the stew. -Pasteis de nata: OMG! The best part. This dessert was so fresh, so crispy, and so delicious! - Vinho verde (green wine): I don't usually drink alcohol. But I'm quite amazed how good this wine was. I can honestly say that the food here is excellent and delicious. The taste and flavor is as good as the food in Portugal. Definitely a must try!

Cute date night place in Kailua! Very romantic vibes and I love how it isn't too loud like some places. The big downside for me was that we were seated right where the AC was blasting so it made the experience not as enjoyable. Thankfully I brought my jacket but even then, I was freezing. I was looking around to see if we could move somewhere else but they don't have much two seater options; the best one was the table against the wall so it avoids the AC... another small downside was our server's attitude. She kinda seemed like she didn't want to be there. She wasn't the worst but a more friendlier, welcoming attitude would of been nice We ordered a decent amount of food: Bolinhos de Bacalhau (Cod + Potato Croquettes), Salt and Vinegar Onion Rings, Caldeirada De Pescadora (Fisherman's Stew), Alcatra (Pot Roast), and Pasteis De Nata (Portuguese Custard Tarts) The two appetizers were one of our favorites! I don't know how they get it so light and crispy and paired with the herb mayo sauce (from the croquettes) gave it a nice tanginess. The entree portions were huge! We could of easily shared because we came out super full. I was pretty shocked by the amount of seafood the Fisherman's Stew came with and for $30, it was so worth it! I definitely recommend adding a bread basket to soak up the extra soup (they only give one) or I wish they had rice to pair alongside with it. You can also tell how popular a dish is when you look around and see almost everyone eating it! I wouldn't mind coming back again but they do get booked up so always best to make a reservation ahead of time

Located across Kailua Elementary, Faria is quite possibly one of the best restaurants on the island. The prices are fair and the food is spectacular. Faria offers great Portuguese food. I've never thought I'd enjoy food out of my usual stuff I eat. PARKING Street parking was what we found. There are a couple of stalls right in front of the entrance but I do suggest parking outside RESTAURANT Clean and dimly lit, but you can still get enough light. Kitchen and the restaurant are is clean. Waiters and staff is super friendly and will guide you to the right dishes. Our party did enjoy the different types of cocktails they offered. The restaurant is casual so you don't have to dress fancy of you don't want to. FOOD I don't I disliked anything here. The BOLINHOS DE BACALHAU was so good. We could have easily eaten 2 orders with our party of three. Salt and vinegar wings were super crispy with lots of flavors. Pot roast was great too. You might wanna order the bread basket to scoop up all the goodness on the bottom. My wife had the whole Bransino fish which was crispy and also packed with flavor. The Piri Piri chicken with potatoes. The chicken had excellent flavor and it was tender. The Piri Piri sauce, that comes in a chicken bottle was a nice addition to all the dishes. Nice and spicy addition. We could've poured the entire bottle out. If I was asked to invite Gordon Ramsey and introduce him to one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in Hawaii, Faria would definitely be in my top 3.

I took a detour out of my normal town foodie routine and ventured to Kailua for a birthday meal at Faria with friends. Our party of 7 was seated at a large table and had the pleasure of sharing several family style appetizers, salad, home baked bread and delicious entrees. It was my first experience having Portuguese cuisine outside of friends homes growing up, and they definitely curate a cozy, family environment that is welcoming to small and large groups alike. Our server was incredibly friendly and explained the entire menu including specials to us in a way nothing short of artistic. The best part was everything tasted as delicious as it sounded!! Will come back for sure to celebrate something special, if we're ever out of urban Honolulu.

Came back to Faria for my birthday, I love this place. Just as charming as the last time, and this time we were seated at an intimate table near the bar. We ordered a bottle of Aviana, Portuguese red blend wine. Pão Caseiro, their House Bread Basket severed with a savory butter and sweet cream. Sardinhas, a sardine skillet in a garlicky tomato sauce - phenomenal. Sardines are imported from Portugal and have this rich and salty umami flavor that complements the acidity of the tomatoes. Alcatra or pot roast, my hunny picked this entree. In not sure what I was expecting, it's more than a simple pot roast over mashed potatoes though. It has this rich gravy from the roast that added an extra delicious layer to the dish. Caldeirada De Pescadora aka Fisherman's Stew - a MUST. We came back specifically for this stew, think cioppino, but not. And for dessert, I don't know! It was a special of the day, so it wasn't on the menu! Imagine a crunchy French toast, cubed and rebaked like a bread pudding, topped with a little scoop of ice cream. Amazing. If it's a special not on the menu, get it. We did the same thing at our first visit, with no regrets.

I had the most wonderful time at Faria! The restaurant is absolutely breathtaking! The restaurant is beautiful and inviting! Feels like home, but exudes elegance. I love the sardines can and spam cans, paying homage to its roots. The family portraits tugged at my heart, and the signature Portuguese roosters made me smile. Even the bathroom is gorgeous, and equipped with little thoughtful toiletries such as hand lotion, mouthwash and candies! The staff is unbelievably friendly and kind. The service was memorable, as everyone worked hard to provide a magical experience. Our server took great care of us, anticipating our every need. The food is delicious! My boyfriend and I loved the salt and vinegar wings. We inhaled them. As a seafood lover, the fisherman's stew was an absolute dream. The tomato-y herb stew actually healed me. My boyfriend loved every bit of his pot roast, down to the last drop. If we were hungrier, we would have gotten drinks and dessert--I guess we'll have to come back! Only downside is limited outside parking, but plenty of street (metered) parking nearby. We will be sure to make a reservation and continue to support this local business!

Dinner in Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i... My dentist is quite smart and keeps up with trends such as new restaurants. She read an article in "Honolulu Magazine" about Faria and said that reservations are booked months in advance. I had to check it out... I made reservations online via the Toast app. It emailed me 4 times - once on the day before the dinner and 3 times before the dinner on the day of the dinner - about a modification to my reservation. It looked like the time changed from 6:45pm to 8:45am. I called the restaurant to verify. They couldn't understand the "modification" and didn't see any change on their side. I screenshoted the email and sent it to Sheldon. When I got to the restaurant, I showed it to him and the owner. They contacted Toast where the situation will be monitored. PARKING: there are 3 free stalls right in front of the restaurant. I found a free parking spot on the street in front of Kailua Library. There are metered street stalls along other streets that are free after 6pm or so. SERVICE: Hit and miss. The receptionist was very personable - as was the bartender and the owner. The servers were a bit off. One gal would say she's bringing takeout boxes, but got distracted by the other server who ended up bringing the takeout boxes after we were asked again. ENVIRONMENT: noisy with muted lighting. I felt calm, but a bit sleepy. Maybe it was food coma? Anyway, I had to stay alert because the place was packed. I thought that someone would bump into our table! Everyone was talking and I felt like I was yelling, especially when I had to repeat myself because my dentist couldn't hear me... LOL! We liked the decor - and appreciated the numerous rosaries at the entrance... and candles for local chefs! FOOD: we shared the bread basket which had 3 types of bread and 2 kinds of butter... yummy! I ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes and cabbage. I liked the tender beef! The potatoes helped to balance out the savory gravy. (I had to drink more water than normal.) I took leftovers home! We also got the Portuguese Custard tarts. The Custard was very soft - like a thick cream. The crispy crust was excellent! It was a great foodie adventure! I'm glad that I got the chance to try a relatively new local small business!

After an amazing trip to Portugal we were excited to hear we could be transported back through this culinary experience. Faria definitely delivered in ambiance, decor and a plus with Fado music humming in the background. Their pacific-Portuguese fusion really transports you as a local, plantation keiki and world-wide traveler. Service was top notch, the family host walked around the dining room engaging with guests - true to Portuguese hospitality!

I got the high star rating after visiting. We ordered the BOLINHOS DE BACALHAU, SARDINHAS, SALT & VINEGAR CHICKEN WINGS, SALADA DE BACALHAU WEDGE, GRANNY PEREIRA'S PIRI PIRI CHICKEN, & CALDEIRADA DE PESCADORA and everything was wonderful. The chicken was good in itself, but the piri piri pepper sauce made it exceptional. Oh, also ordered the PISTACHIO RUM CAKE, which was excellent!!! The ambiance was an upscale version of grandma's house with classy music. Service was friendly and accommodating. The experience took us back to Portugal. The highlight for us was Sheldon, the bartender. He made a mean old fashioned right up our alley. Boozy and balanced, which is not easy. I can see going back, sitting at the bar, chatting with Sheldon, ordering cocktails and pupus. Parking...they have a couple of spots in the front, otherwise, street or the paid lot around the corner.

My husband's cousin highly recommended here, so we decided to try! My husband(according his mother, he has 5/8 Portuguese blood), his cousin, her husband, and me came to 6:30 p.m. reservation(this was only available when we tried to make reservation) and inside restaurant was packed!! It's not small restaurant but packed!!! I and my husband arrived couple minutes earlier and got our seat immoderately but I got a cold ac wind, so move to another chair(but same table). Then my husband cousin and her husband arrived and when he sat his chair, he felt freezing cold, so he asked our waitress to change the temperature up and wind direction but she told him they cannot because their kitchen is too hot and for that it keeps like that temperature. That's why they set up blanket for each chair. But I saw looks like returning guests have thick jacket, so they know how cold this place is. We ordered the bottle of wine "Carm Family Estates Douro Tinto Organic, Portugal" for cheers. And "Linguiça Assada // This Little Piggys On Fire", "Sardinhas // Sardine Skillet", and "Pão Caseiro // House Bread Basket" for appetizer, and "Granny Pereira's Piripiri Chicken", "Alcatra // Pot Roast", "Vinha Dálhos / / Garlic Pork", and "Bacalhau a Bras / / Cod + Potato Gratin" for main dishes and to share. Anyway, we tried to order "Conservas// Tin Fish Board" but already sold out! Our server said only three serving per day and we just missed it!!! Oh, man!!!!! Everything was sooooo delicious!!!!!!!! Chicken is so tender, both pork are so soft and flavorful, and cod,,, that's the winner!!! We shared all dishes and so satisfied. But we still had space for the dessert. He shared "Arroz Doce // Creme Brulee Rice Pudding", "Pasteis De Nata // Portuguese Custard Tarts", and "Pistachio Rum Cake" with espresso and herb tea. Yummm! Can't wait to back here and try another dishes! All the staff are so friendly and nice.

We came with the intent of taking our friend out for their birthday but sadly they had to cancel. Greatest thing was tonight turned into date night. This place seriously never disappoints. We got the vinha d'alhos and fisherman's strew. This is our regular order (yes we have tried other things, yes it was delicious too) and just as always, the food was awesome. We tried the crème brûlée rice pudding and ordered the pistachio rum cake. The desserts are wild. So good that I really consider stopping in just for the cake. The service was awesome as usual. Ambience is so chill but upper scale. We're so happy we don't have to go far from home for food we love. Also, the birthday boy didn't show up but I still got to take home some birthday cookies! Such an awesome experience each and every visit.

Service was really great and food was good! If you're looking for a nice family owned restaurant with a really warm atmosphere this is a great choice! I had never tried Portuguese food but enjoyed my experience! If you're in the area I would definitely try it! Prices are a bit high, but I think the overall experience makes it worth it!

A nice celebratory dinner with my daughter and soon to be son-in-law. Faria is a quaint, warm, welcoming restaurant, that to no surprise has become a difficult reservation to secure. We were seated promptly, waters brought, drink orders taken, and menus and the evening specials provided. We tried a myriad of different dishes including the House Bread Basket (good but pricey), Garlic Soup, Fisherman's Stew, Garlic Pork, and Red & Green Shrimp Pasta. Our plates were licked clean. Don't leave without trying their infamous desserts. The Lemon Cheesecake was good, and the Crème Brûlée Rice Pudding was our favorite. Sadly they were out of Custard Tarts. The Open Table online reservation system asked if we were celebrating anything, which we were....my daughter's wedding; however, neither the hostess or server(s) ever mentioned it. As such, I withheld one star.

You wouldn't even think there's a place like this in Kailua. I first came with my friend for dinner and I came with my mom for brunch after her dentist appointment, because I wanted to show her what became of the beloved Four Star Chop Suey decades ago. Brunch menu was not the usual breakfast items that we were used to, but I ordered what I thought she would like best. We had Breakfast Hash with potatoes, sausage, cheese, eggs, bell peppers but the sauce was a little spicy for mom. There were ingredients in the sauce which maybe was too much for mom. I'd order again. Our first appetizer was the Wagyu carpaccio- topped with cilantro (the menu said dill but I saw/ tasted none), fried capers, and caviar. It was surprisingly light and refreshing, basically a meat salad. A beautiful start to our meal. Our second (yes, second) appetizer was the escargot and bone marrow. This was our personal star of the show. A complete 180 to the carpaccio. This was rich, heavy, and decadent. The tomato added a nice balance of acidity to counteract the fatty bone marrow. The escargot was cooked perfectly, no chew but soft and buttery. One of the best bites of my life. The salad it came with was just we needed with it. After this, there was quite a wait until our main entree. A fire dancer came, and danced on the bar counter. I'd say we waited a good 20 minutes until it came out. But we were only impatient because we had plans after dinner. Our main course, which we shared, was the King Arthur- beef Wellington with a side of crab legs. The crab did come out during our appetizers which I appreciated. I only ordered this because I never had beef Wellington before and really wanted to try it LOL, my partner said it was better than the one at hella kitchen! The waitress also talked us into ordering a side of Mac and cheese, and thank GOD she did. It came out piping hot and saucy. There was a slight note of truffle, but it wasn't overpowering, and a nice crust of cheese and breadcrumbs on top. Everything was delicious and generously portioned. You definitely get a bang for your buck. It's a hefty buck but it's so worth it.

Live jazz music was a plus. Food was really good, especially for the portions of it. At the end we couldn't even get desserts since everyone was stuffed but happy. Best dish of night would be the Black Truffle Risotto. We would definitely come back just to get this dish alone. It could have been a 5 stars experience if one of our servers didn't seem to rush things to clear up the tables. Got asked a couple of times if dish was done tho the person who ordered that was in the restroom.. and was asked to pass the utensils to her in not a very nice tone.. Our main server however was very nice and helpful.

There wasn't much of anything other than the single rickhouse area, so when we went back in 2025 it was nice to see how much they had expanded. A nice, full tasting bar, plenty of seating area (outdoor and indoor), and an expanded rickhouse. The employees are friendly and give great recommendations. Definitely loved seeing how much they've grown in the 4 years since we visited. They had more expressions to try this time around, which was great because I got to do a flight of their releases. My wife got a cocktail which she enjoyed. This place is definitely a good vibe for any whiskey lover visiting O'ahu!

The night we went there were 2 musicians playing great music and taking requests. One even had a trombone! There are lounge couches, high tops and picnic style tables, some indoor, some outdoor under a tent. Nice local art on walls. We loved the craft cocktails especially the Old Fashioned. The tasting board of their different blends was great too! Taco night was some darn good home cooking ! Carlitos is a family run business and you can tell they really care about the food. We had the pork tacos and the pork was amazing! The refried beans were some of the best we ever had. This distillery is fun for couples, families, and groups of friends. There are also some games around for little kids, who were hanging in the outdoor tent. Definitely worth a visit !

They don't have parking so you have to find street parking. We went to go visit today, Wednesday. They open 8AM to 9PM everyday, and we got there around 10AM ish. Upon entering, you enter through the short wooden gate by sliding it lol. Was all confused because signs said "the Garden to your left, Boardroom to the right", so we kind of passed the entrance, going around the corner, and noticed that there wasn't another entrance on the other side, and that's when we figured the short wooden sliding gate was the entrance lol as you walk in, it's an outdoor establishment, lots of seats everywhere. With this yelp elite experience, we got to have a pizza and a dole whip. They have a menu posted up, and you order at the truck. They don't start serving pizza till 11, so we left cuz we was too early, and wanted to take advantage of our yelp perk, so went to go run errands and came back around 2PM ish. We got a pepperoni pizza, vanilla dole whip, and I ordered a maitai. Pizza was good. Dole whip was good, and Maitai was good. Everything was good! I loved that we got to make our way here to take advantage of my yelp elite perk because if wasn't for this yelp event, on any other normal day, we would just pass this place, not even knowing what this place has to offer! One thing about this place is that it's hotttt, if u go in the day. And for me, alcohol and hotness does not go together lol Since they open till 9, I would think it's probably cooler when sun is down. Love pet friendly places. We got to bring our jellybean with us. Cool spot to chill, have a few. Shout out to Eric for taking care of us. Awesome customer service. Only had him working all morning. Go check this place out. Don't forget to tip :)

The ordering counter and cashier is right as you enter along with thr pastry counter. Same deals with thr kapolei location you order and find your own table and put number so they can find you when your order is up. Inside is airconditioned with around maybe 10 tables and chairs some seat 2 others eat 4 and they also have outside patio seating back and front. The parking can be challenging having maybe 10 -12 spots in their lot and some street parking . Their Menu is a bit more limited than their other location. Sandwiches.. pizza and other stuff oh and coffee. The only thing that wasmt as good as their kapolei location was they didnt have the thin crispy salty cravable fries they only had small bags of chips available The food is always good and the service was real good. The staff gave you an impression where they really valued their customers with greetings with a smile and happy goodbyes. As always a great experience with a great casual setting..fair pricing (nothing is considered "cheap" nowdays) ..good food and friendly staff.
