The location was under construction, presumably because they had recently been purchased, but that's a temporary issue and part of upgrading the business. I've been to the Herbal Nail Spa in Renton and they do a fantastic job, but this location is awful. I got a pedicure (which was great!), but a different technician did my Gel-X and she should not have been doing that. She lacked the skills, and worse, when I said something about the tips being applied crooked, she shrugged and told me that "my nails were crooked" and that's just how it was. I had asked for a basic straight stripe design, and the design was applied poorly. Again, when I said something, she told me it was because my nails were too short. The nails did stay on without chipping or lifting for two weeks. I think they would have stayed longer, but I couldn't look at them any longer (I actually used polish at home to paint over the bad design!). I went and had them removed at the Renton location. It's now been 10 weeks, and the damage done to my nails when they were applied is almost grown out. I've had Gel-X applied before with some minimal damage, but the aggressive filing before these were applied was over the top. I wasn't going to leave a review because some businesses go through a hard transition, but I emailed the Herbal Nail Spa through their website, with photos, to let them know how poorly the technician had done, and I didn't hear anything back, so alas, public review it is.

I was in a hurry to get my nails done over on the Eastside, and walked into Geisha Nails for a…read morequick shellac manicure. First impression was-- YUCK. The decor was grossly outdated- not to mention ill maintained. Paint on the walls were peeling, the equipment on manicure tables were dirty and unwashed. Even the towel used to dry my hands were spotted and yellow. As for the manicure itself-- it was rushed (massage was only about 20 seconds per hand) and the color uneven. The worst part of the experience had to be at the end, where I was charged $40 cash for my service. First of all, their service menu clearly lists $30 as the price for a shellac manicure. Second of all- another sign on their door clearly lists that they accept Visa, Discover, and Mastercard. I finally ended up having to buy something at the restaurant next door just so I could pay. Considering I saw the owner of the place driving a Mercedes and carrying a Gucci handbag-- you'd think she could afford to renovate the place a little. Major EW. Never again.

After receiving a wonderful but expensive shellac treatment in a shellac-only boutique, I decided…read moreto splurge on another for a night out. My first shellac manicure was affordable only because I used a deal from an online site- what normally cost about $65 went down to $30. The shellac was perfectly done, but I felt the manicure part (filing, buffing, shaping the nail) was lacking. I called Geisha Nail to find out the price and at $25 I thought I had nothing to lose. At the very least my nails would look good for a few days and I would get what I paid for. Jennifer at Geisha Nail did an amazing job. I'm looking lovingly at my nails as I type this review! The process took over 45 minutes, and she was clean, thorough, and exact. I requested my nails be short since I chose a dark red and she shaped them perfectly. A few things to note: *this is actually a salon. The salon is small, clean, and homey-absolutely no frills, and seems to be owned/managed by a Russian lady and frequented by the Russian community. While I was there every customer that came in seemed like a repeat and they were all Russian- just a neat thing to notice when comparing the "regular-end" nail places. *there are only 2 mani/pedi work stations and Jennifer told me she works part-time-so it is best to set an appointment *I also got an eyebrow wax by the manager and she did a great job of evening them out in no time.

The ladies were so nice, they gave me tea and some snacks to munch on while I waited. Got an acrylic set shellac with a signature pedicure. Manicure set turned out great as well, did a pink cateye which turned exactly how I wanted (picture doesn't do it justice). Will definitely come back.

Ok, so I just came home from getting my hair done by Jerre at this salon, and I have to say, in all…read morehonesty, that this is the best damn haircut and color I've ever had in my whole life! First of all, this is a lovely, homey salon that used to be an art gallery. They still incorporate art pieces on the walls, and there's a fireplace against a wall. Hardwood floors. Rooms, ante rooms and a deck through some French doors. The staff couldn't be nicer and I felt at home here immediately. Jerre is a veritable artist. I've never known a hair stylist like her: she truly takes the time to analyze your hair and listen to you, what look you're hoping to achieve. I've never had a stylist take so much time to work with you so you get the results you want. And, my god, what a fabulous new hair style and color I got! I feel like a totally different person. I really like how Jerre said I could return within 2 weeks if I wasn't thrilled with my color and/or hair cut and she will change it. But I AM thrilled, so it's all moot. And how cool, to be guided outside (on the deck) to see how the color was in natural light. The color is phenomenal. Three colors were used (a darker under-color for depth, and a top color with lighter highlights). The cut is phenomenal. My fine hair looks and feels a ton fuller, and thicker, and healthier. I'm being told I look a lot younger. Who doesn't want to hear that?!!!

The experience was not. The haircut turned out great, highlights were put on a bit sloppy and I have a huge streak on one side of my head. The appointment started 20 minutes late. No apologies were given. She checked her haircut work rather thoroughly. I found her attitude a bit brusque. When I was leaving she shouted a rude remark about "stay on the road". I did tip on the regular price. Maybe this is why a stylist that obviously has some talent has to have a Groupon to attract clients.

I've been to numerous salons where my nails do not last even a week without chipping and peeling. Since I usually get gel polish manicure and regular polish pedicure I expected the nails to last at most, 2 weeks. The only reason I don't give it a higher rating is because I made the mistake of making an appointment on their online system. I even got a confirmation text but when I showed up for my appointment the next day, they said the tech I booked wasn't working that day and they had no one who could take me. The "funny" part was I had completely forgotten all about the appointment and made it all the way home from the same mall and had to turn around and rush back over to make it on time. Better just to walk-in and not rely on making appointments on their system.
